With noiseless are we talking about not barking as Big G mentions or also about the excitement sounds as seen by over enthousiastic dogs? And if the later is also the case why is that? Function or just a preference?

Does anyone know of pick axe lines

Not everything can be explained. -
Lets be fair, the DJT is also a lot about looks. The dog is shaped to a image the creators thought they should have. Shape is a IMPORTANT selection criteria for the germans where with the Pat/Fell work is most important and the rest will hopefully follow. Let us look at the canine gladiator the Pitbull, do we think they would cull a undershot Champion or Grandchampion? Or even considder not breeding him/her? Would the Pitbull be the dog it is today? And lets not forget that most undershot dogs are undershot because they have a extreme strong underjaw compared to dogs with a normal bi

Have seen bulldogs, staffs and dogo's with undershot mouths that where/are 200% workingdogs and would not think twice to breed from them. Only concern would be if the undershot mouth is undershot too much as this would weaken the bite.A little undershot is even considert to be more powerfull then a scissor bite. Overshot is a bigger fault as that weakens a bite, I would never breed from a overshot dog myself.

No, but it depends of what you want from your breeding results. Do you think the mix will give the character you want from the offspring? Reproducing (keeping the working qualities)on the other hand for the generation after this cross might(can) be difficult.

Friend of mine had done it. As far as I know 100%, and no side effects heard of.

Specially when you buy it from ebay. In Germany a lot of sellers.

Yes works on a B&F colar.

LOL, no not really [BANNED TEXT], do not even in the same country is that you mr stevens? lol

If the dad would quith I would cull the whole litter. If it was 2 to 3 weeks after the mating you can give the bitch a injection so all pups would be driven out.

Northern Lad are you reading this from a book or are you serious?KC papers tell idiots what they want to hear, show people NEVER NEVER put the proper breeding of their champs for all to see, they would be afraid some competitor would know what way they crossed this and that line or particular dog to some particular bitch to get some show shite champion or champions. They always stick in one or two wrong ones in the peds when selling or registering, the pups may not be even from the same litter. The serious working terrier man(not the fly by night men)can trace his peds for years and years all down

If it is for your own use, only breed from the best one and cross with the best you have access to. Linebreeding or inbreeding does work, but make sure the dogs in question are worth line or inbreeding from. And always keep in mind that not only the good things will (hopefully)be preserved, but also possibly the bad things. If not really a lot of knowledge of the line of the dogs and their individual ancestors, use the best outcross you can find.

A undershot jaw(if not severe) is not a problem at all. A undershot jaw is mostly caused by a strong underjaw. In showdogs breeding generation after generation only for scissor bites they get another problem. They select out all dogs with a undershot jaw or parents who gave undershot pups. This results in a big increase of inverted canines. This means that the big underteeth point inwards into the palate. This is caused mostly by a narrow underjaw. If you use your (good)worker with a undershot jaw well and don't overdo doubling up those traits, there is no problem at all. Some in Pitdogs e

But they expected probably what we all expected, a negative view on matters. And if you don't have the people around who can explain things well, you can do more harm then good. So who knows, better that they kept them out. -
these were bred black to black for many years ..Why would it have to be crossed with a russell??Seen many first crosses and they should if both parents are (pure) in the sense not already crossed come black or red years ago thats the colours they produced..Nowadays if you put a pat to a russell you often get russell coloured pups..So it stands to reason both parents were of x bred stock Spot on Donny, black is and always should be the dominant colour, if you cross black over white you should get all black. Why is everybody always assuming Russel in it if a Pat shows white spots? Lo

If you keep in mind that a hunter will NEVER sell his best dog or he must be in money trouble or calling it a day. But he might have another good reason, maybe just the dog that is spare.
-
But even a repeat mating from parrents that produced a super litter is not a guarrantee that the repeat will give the same result, it can even be a significant let down.
-
i think what happens alot is when two lads have a dog and bitch out of the same yard and think by putting them together they are keeping the line going while the yard owner would of never mated them . thats why i think proven stud dogs are as important to working terriers as lines are .thats my thinking anyway The quality of the individual, and then preferably strengthened by a good strong pedigree.
-
yep blood / pedigree are vital to a working dog and some are well thought out matings for the good of the job , BUT everybody you ever know that breeds a litter will allways give you a valid reason (in their opinion) for doing so .its up to you how much you get sucked in . sort the wheat from the chaff Agree

Think(but can be wrong) that the topic starter meant more the overly horney people for a certain line of dogs. Loads of people focus on anything from their prefered bloodline, good or not, hear somebody still say in the past "maar het bloed is goed"(the blood is good), and this about a curr of a dog. Fact is that YES pedigree matters with reproducing your workers, as the more you know, the better you are able to pinpoint certain characteristics. But you always have to keep an open mind, and blood only matters if the dog in question is also a true repressentative of that blood. Frank70

ABSOLUTE BULL S**T. FROM THE BREEDING SIDE OF WHAT YOUR SAYING. IVE SEEN THE BEST OF TERRIERS GET SICKENED BY ITS QUARRY AND COME AWAY AFTER A FEW HOURS OF DIGGING, THERES LIMITS, WHEN THE QUARRY CHARGES AND CHARGES NON STOP, AND IT NOWS IT CAN BEAT A TERRIER, WHICH HAPPENS WHEN THERES BIN A FEW FAILED DIGS ON IT. I WOULDENT CALL THEM SECOND RATE WORKERS IDE CALL THEM A GOOD WORKER THATS ACCOUNTED FOR ITS SELF. YOU CANT BREED FROM A OVER HARD DEAD DOG. JUST MY OPINION. Looking with a Gamedog mind at it, I have to agree with that last centence from Daniele Santoni. But saying this, I am lea
