  1. OTC, The last two nights have been lamping with the rifle, rabbits at all distances from cover, When the rain finally abates will be ferreting and night time long netting, watch this space as they say for statistics.
  2. does usually outnumber bucks 6/1. 6-1, , well lastnights was 20-1, the night before was 18.5-1, wish i had been keeping tallies of gender ratios before not just tallies in general for customers, will do from now on, just out of curiosity.
  3. The last two months i have been almost exclusivley on rabbit clearance, during this time something has become very obvious and that is the ratio of does to bucks, to the extent that i am now quite suprised when i get a buck. Last night i had sixty only three were bucks four nights before that i had a hundred and thirty odd, only seven were bucks. Now personally i have never seen numbers as high as they are this year, every doe is milky and got between five and seven in her as well, i dont remember ever seeing anywhere near as high a ratio of does to bucks as this year. Anyone else experienci
  4. Hi Claude, where roughly in cornwall are you, and welcome.
  5. Sorry if i am being slow, but what is going on with the hunting chat, it went all modern and had a bit for people who wanted to be really serious, now it is back to the old one, please could someone enlighten me as to why it keeps changing.
  6. That will set you back a bob or two, deffinetly worth the money though. The 6.5x55 is a very popular choice i am told for long range target shooting, certainly out to 600 yds down here on the military range, not that affects me as i probably could not see let alone hit a target past 300 so not a chance at 600.
  7. whats the pros and con of the two.243.6.5x55 Both very flat shooters, but 6.5x55 out to a greater distance, 243 marginally cheaper ammo and most shops will keep a wider choice in this calibre, but 6.5 is readily available in most places as it is becoming very popular. Obviously the 6.5 has a much greater knock down as you can use 156 grn head, but will also take a much lighter one for a fairly hot fox round. 243 a little less recoil and quieter, i bought two steyr pro hunters one in each of the calibres, both s/s synthetics the only difference one has a swarovski on top the other a sch
  8. Ricky npp, i was a tackle tart, i bought every rapala etc etc, the more expensive the better, but only one ever got wet, rapala j 13, blue and white, bass love them. Anyone know anybody that wants to buy a collection of top quality plugs and lures in A1 condition.
  9. I have a 243 and a 6.5x55 both very capable but on big fallow or red in the rut i think the latter has the edge, it has very low recoil but deffinetly needs a can, unless you like your ears to bleed that is.
  10. As Sako said, but also Norma 100 grn sp worth a try, can be very good in some guns.
  11. Good post and a great picture, when things go fubar like the first buck sure gets the old adrenalin going, i was right there with you for a moment. all the best MT.
  12. All the best mate, best wishes from me and FPO, HAVE A GREAT ONE.

  15. Are you sure your quite ready for that sort of power, . Very nice job though MC. iSNT SUFFOLK FLAT THOUGH. :thumbs-up:
  16. You ever tried going the other way ?, we drove the landy down to Gibralta, £60 to fill up here, £47,ish France, Spain £40,ish Gibralta which is British, well until that shithouse bl.ir finally finishes giving it away £30,ish, something a bit fishy there me thinks.
  17. BRNO for me to, tasco milldot, parker hale mod, whole set up less than £300
  18. Talking of using for dispatching, any idea what sort of ft lbs this would be in .177 at say 18" from the muzzle, . Had a crossman for the job but like MC says having to fork out for the capsules was a right arse ache.
  19. Used to have a theoben fenman profile, shyhedua skeleton stock in .177, very pretty gun, did not perticularly like the very sudden almost snappy firing cycle though. Sold it at the same time as my rapid 7, now that was a very useful tool. Last week bought one of those bsa tactical xl,s in .22, fired 250,ish shots, yesterday packaged it all up to send back, couldnt shoot for sh.t with it, so no use to me being a pesty, , oh well live and learn.
  20. Take a canoe, have fun all you boys from down here, see you in THE pub when you get back.
  21. YOU MEAN BARRYMORES A LEFT FOOTER, NO WAY.
  22. Never a truer word spoken, remember feeling the same myself not long ago, remember recieving a load of crap to, stick with it, generally it is worth it, (honestly).
  23. Not on an air rifle unless it was really pushing down on the barrel, if it were a full bore then it could have affected the barrels harmonics, but in this case wouldnt have thought it a problem.
  24. Little loyd i know why you really want to hang around up on the downs, you wouldnt be thinking of buying some NV now would you. Always used to be a prime perv spot, especially by the suspension bridge. Was told anyway.
