Blimey that's a posh job mate! Makes mine look proper off the moor! Lol. How tricky is that to set?
-
Are you able to pop up a close up pic of that set up please jd? Sounds a better/simpler set up than what I'm doing.Cheers, Jamie.

I believe Glen is working on something, but that's of no use to you right now. To be honest, I don't think you'll learn much more by reading about it than actually knocking some up and just giving it a go. It will help you greatly if you can find a straight run where they are darting between places, they're motoring when they do this so will hit it nicely, rather than it just ambling. The other main thing to take into consideration is that your trigger that holds the whip down must be able to release which ever direction the rats are traveling from. Also the more sensitive you can make t

Sounds good, I know it was the original way to use hazel, willow etc, but it's not really the best thing as it takes on memory quite quickly. The fencing stakes I'm using in the pictures are cheap as chips, but even they take on a memory. Some have bought cheap fishing poles off the bay I think?

Dont ! lol,....you use the 'duffus', dont you ? & the 'trapline', and i take it you have a few 'talpex' ? ,.....sounds like youve got everything you need, then,.......lolAnd the Fenn scissors! But.....oh bugger, your probably right.

Your right, the kits are back up! £25 20 traps, pliers and 70 triggers. Hmmm, do I don't I? Never used one, seen one.

Nicepix, unfortunately I know gamme vert all too well, she drags me around at least one every time were over, not like we haven't got enough ruddy garden centres in this country!
-
I think that's what Glen made some squirrel snares out of he sent me down to try, quite probably better than the standard brass o use.
-
Snow? What's that then? Lol I get on alright with the traplines, really useful under patio slabs etc. Also like them under fence panels. Have used them to winkle out a few who were playing silly buggers with the duffus. Seriously wazzes me off when a badger walks off with one though.

If your after crows, ditch the Larsen and knock up a ladder trap! Empty it at night and get them feeding well a few days before putting in the door and extra slats, you'll catch every crow for miles. They're deadly. Last job I used one on, put it on the old wooden flat bed trailer used for carting in bales, parked it in the field behind the maize clamp. Used to scare the shit out of me going in at night and knocking them on the head, first day or so there would be maybe hundred or so. Remember though as you thin them out to leave one or two or they'll shy away as they suss something is amis

Mine I set on the beats same as rabbits, but that's because in this instance they are not running flat like they would along a level surface, they are bounding because of the grass. Loops are about two and a half inches, ish?
-
At least you can still add pics! Lol
-
Well I was told to make some new flag wires tonight, but longer ones that we used to use on farm jobs because of the long grass. So I did as told "as you do" and knocked up fifty eighteen inch ones, but instead of using the fleuro tape tied through the loop I dipped them in signal red hammerite, well the top six inches. Popped one out in the field and walked back twenty yards, they show up lovely because you're looking for them, but wouldn't if you weren't. Very happy with this as I don't like advertising where my traps are. Would pop up a piccy, but can't because of the bloody automatic up

Thanks Matt, really appreciated! I think we're going to be fine as I'm going up to Dartmoor today to take up traps on a couple of jobs a day or two early. Next thing you know I'll be buying a 4x4 again and taking on farm jobs again NOT! Lol

I seriously can't wait for the call to say the spectre is ready to pick up, in the meantime time though tinbums sorting my , and I'm torn between tx and ps. What it's like to be a tackle tart.

:feck: Totally! I'll do you a favour and take her off your hands! These damned springers are addictive, their breeding in my big gun cabinet.lol
-
Good job jobbed there! Not being funny, but you don't actually leave them hanging from road side fences do you? If we did that down here it would make the red top rags front page. Lol
-
Great job fella! I'm being nagged at the moment about getting the beds ready, keep telling her, I've got to get all these bare root Apple trees in first. Nearly there, only eleven left now. We did get the garlic, red and white onions in last week so it's not that bad. She also got up another greenhouse on the weekend so its not Like nothing's being done. Also, even down here were still getting sharp morning frosts.
-
That's interesting, I was getting on lovely with it on several forums, then I was forced into a schedule upgrade on the weekend, now I can't access gallery through files, so can't post! @#$%&!?

Cornish will save the day if your stuck mate, I'm sure Cheers, D. Um, probably best we don't go there! Uh hum, if you know what I mean, where's the whistling emoticon when you need it.

She's been over and sussed out what's what, as usual the grass is getting away. So there is some urgency. She managed to get twenty traps in, but there's quite a bit to sort out so we will both gave to get stuck in next few days. Trouble is were short of traps as we've so many jobs on the go at once, flat pack can't get any out to us till middle of next week. Almost called bethel and then thought, nah, we will scrape by.

Well I took an interesting call this morning from one of the dairy farms I used to do moles for back when I was still doing them. He's just paid one of the local Wyatt Erps nearly £1500 to rid the farm of moles using gas, soon as our gas man got on his horse and left town with his booty, the farmer got the contractors in to roll the fields "not cheap", surprise surprise quite a few of the fields are now blossoming nicely with fresh hills. Calls up Wyatt Erp and says you need to get back tonto and get this finished! Ah, he doesn't guarantee his work, merely charges per canister so this will b

Well I'm a lazy sod and never clean mine, only rub off different soil types between jobs, BUT she who shall not be named regularlyfinds traps in her motor with moles in varying degrees of decomposition. My boy and his family refuse to get in her motor after one incident!!!!!

Sounds great! The only other thing some have tried is adding glycerin to give mouth feel! I have not as I wanted to stat as au naturel as poss. My thinking is that if it appears "thin" then numerous things can be added at time of consumption to address if necessary.
