  1. Could be one of the following:

a)old muscle damage which has not been diagnosed, muscle has then healed badly leaving scar tissue which doesn't work properly like a normal muscle should, therefore hurtin like hell when dog does a bit. Muscle stiffens up after lying down and takes a while to loosen up again.

    B) arthritic condition in joints: has the same effect as the above cause. Usually caused by knocks, bangs etc, or simply over use.

You say it doesn't cause her any pain, but if she won't walk on it then it's obviously causing pain! Deep chronic pain won't necessarily give you an 'ouch' reaction when you manipulate the leg. Dogs often live and work with a fair degree of chronic pain, just like us!

I'd suggest you get the dog to a Greyhound vet: they are the ONLY vets who will be able to give you a correct and accurate diagnosis and treatmant plan, unless you can find a pet vet who also has a real interest in working and running dogs.

    Good luck.

You just about summed it up mate. I have already taken her to a greyhound vet but will do it again. He just cracked her hips, didnt seem to do alot but i will try it again. If anything it sounds like arthritic condition in joints but the dog is only just 2. Is that unusual? Any ideas on how to treat it?

  2. I know there is alot of talk about this breed atm. I was wondering if anyone had any pics of these dogs? Also any info would help i.e. what it kills, how it does it (rips to pieces or just kills it.) Also what height can they get to?

Saw Diggets black male and it got me thinking about it. Damn fine dog mate.

  3. I'm in two minds because someone told me he could have worms so i might try some worm tablets first before i spend $$$ to have a vet tell me he needs worm tablets. The two incedents were three weeks apart so i doubt they were related.

  4. He is 7 months old now and is coming along very well. I took him out this morning for a quick hunt but I noticed that he had diarerra and blood in his stool. A couple weeks ago he refused to eat for a day and vomited bile the whole day. I have only put 2 and 2 together now so any help would be appreciated. He has had all needles and has been wormed. I don't know if it is relevant but he has a very runny nose and sneezes a lot at the moment.

    Thanks

    :hmm:

  5. I found this on a site don't know if it is true but it sounds ok.

"The name Bull Arab came about around 26 to 28 years ago, when a fellow by the name of Mick Hodges, living in and around Brisbane at the time , ended up with a mistake litter of pups out of a Bullterrier bitch called Bull and a Doberman dog called Arab. Whilst writing an advertisement in the local paper to sell the pups in a hurry after work, he wrote down Bull Arab pups, instead of Bull – Doberman pups and did not even realise this until his first few phone calls that Saturday morning. A good number of people rang enquiring about the Bull Arab pups, and seeing the opportunity, Mick carried on the name for a number of years, selling just about anything he could get his hands on as a Bull Arab. A joint breeding program with a couple of other blokes soon kicked into gear and by putting together Bullterrier, Greyhound and Pointer for tenacity, speed and hunting ability, they started work on the Bull Arab that is commonly used today and still very much the type that it was when first put together 5 or6 years after the name came about." This is a quote from an article about Bull Arabs."

  6. I have heard these whippets are very game and would tackle fox before the ban. What breeding lines are they ? Anybody got one good or bad ?

If you have any idea about putting a whippet of any breeding onto a fox you need your head tested.yes a whippet is game enough to have a go,especially one from Mike Brown, but on its own you would have one very badly mauled or very dead dog. With another bigger hunting dog theres no problem, the whippet gets stuck in as well.Hope you never get hold of a whippet before you grow up.what age are you 12?

Mate no way, i know someone who had a whippet and it took many foxes through out its life on its own. It would get and minor injury every now and then but other then that i would kill foxes no problem.

  7. nice looking dog mate, what are you going to be working him on?

I am going to be working him on foxes as that is what the most common feral in my area. If i go on a trip he can get some roo's.

furryferter i can't seem to get any better pics due to size restraints on this site.
