  1. Thanks! it's all joined up so it's one big one to give them loads of space, but you have the option to close sections up if you want to.
  2. Got a new ferret house for my 21st birthday. Yeah...I didn't make it myself bought it off a guy who bred rabbits who made it for them, but it did take me 3 days to paint it. Its 10ft long double storey. Really pleased with it, So are the ferrets! Well made- floors are removable and covered in fibreglass so easy to clean, and the springs at the front of the cage are for the water bottles so much easier than the wires that come with them! Just need to add some more toys in there now. Here are my three
  3. My link I found this link of an amazing ferret enclosure. I wish my ferrets had that much space, and it really has been cleverly thought out. Though not sure about not having any roof at all. a bit risky?
  4. They say it's good for putting new ferrets together. Put a little behind the ears and they lick it off each other. Helps friendly bonding. And makes it easier to groom ferrets. Never heard of it stopping biting before. Handing the kits as much as poss is the best thing for that. And have them round humans, I put mine in an indoor cage and take them up to the falconry and so they have lots of people around them helped a lot with my Jill, my 'second-hand' biter who was past around a lot of owners before me, she is gentle as anything now. Just takes a bit of time...and patience!
  5. I thought one of my ferrets was blind for ages as never looked around her, nose to the ground all the time, and shy when working to get her back out of the burrow, very jumpy to noise, but not so sure now. As long as you use the same noise when going out to her/feeding her I think she would be fine to work as they usually go by smell/sound underground anyway. Only prob you may have is getting her out after. Practice in the garden with plastic tubing and using a sound getting out and keep at it. Don't suddenly grab her as she comes out otherwise she may stay down. Could be just age. Good luck!
  6. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ferreter/ferretrescues.htm http://www.britishferrets.info/index.php?p=1_22_Ferret-Welfares-Rescues-Boarding-Hotels-Associations or RSPCA: search for your area. http://www.rspca.org.uk/inyourarea?p_p_id=branchListing_WAR_ptlListPortlet&p_p_lifecycle=0&p_p_state=normal&p_p_mode=view&p_p_col_id=column-2&p_p_col_pos=2&p_p_col_count=10&_branchListing_WAR_ptlListPortlet_national=include&_branchListing_WAR_ptlListPortlet_region=North I hope you find him. Good luck.
  7. If you can see fleas/mites on the rabbit freeze it first saves you having to de-flea the ferrets after. But otherwise shove it all in. I have a jill and a jill kit, usually feed them a leg each over night then dry food often and small chunks of beef/lamb/chicken/fish throughout the day but only enough for them to eat there and then stops it hanging around for the flys.
  8. Would have loved one, but just a little too far for me. Good luck finding them homes. I'm sure you will there's a guy selling sandies for £50 near me! Don't know who's buying for that price!
  9. Definitely right above! Yeah Ferret litter tray usually really overpriced-£10 and often aren't used if not big enough http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/cat-litter+trays/wilko-cat-litter-tray-large-assorted/invt/9532740/?source=134_4 Wilko- £1.75 for the large. Though above says fasten down as they will have fun tipping it over- make sure it can be removed completely though to get behind as they always have some fun aiming behind the box!
  10. I think the best was 6 but we usually take my boyfriends Harris Hawks with so that usually slows things down as not netting up the holes means many escapees.
  11. One of mine used to do that. I put in a litter tray and every time they went I moved it into the litter tray and really cleaned the original area so it wouldn't smell, after a couple of days of doing this they got the message and moved over to using the litter tray. Good luck!
  12. My family are planning on getting a running type dog from a rescue centre. They won't be working it, but I have my working ferrets and I'm a little worried about them. All of these types of dogs in the description says can't be in a home with cats or small animals. Do you think that it would be possible to have them around each other as many dogs will be older so prob set in their ways. I don't want them going after my ferrets all the time. Obviously I wouldn't put them together but don't want the dog trying to get into their cage if he was left out in the garden, etc..
  13. Thanks 'allenyeates' for the kind offer. PM sent. Would love one of your kits my Gill is looking rather sad by herself. And 'tote' I didn't see my Oscar before my family buried him and don't really like to think about it, but I think they killed him with a shovel and at least the family admitted it and haven't left me wondering if he will ever come back.
  14. maybe on: http://www.field-sports.co.uk/ferrets.asp ?
  15. I'm not a guy, and there's nothing wrong with being 'soft' I always get very attached to any animal I have had be quail, owl, ferret or cat. But this ferret in particular was extra special to me. Great worker and beautiful natured. I can definitely say I have never felt so sad in my life; he was irreplaceable.
  16. Apparently 'showing interest' though don't know what they expected obviously going to show some interest being a ferret. I couldn't hate anyone more than I hate them right now.
  17. I don't know, it wasn't our direct neighbour, was a few doors down and didn't seem to know we had ferrets by the time we had made contact he was already dead. .lots of people don't understand ferrets and think of them as aggressive, I'm always trying to convince people otherwise. Oscar was the most gentle ferret I've ever met.
  18. Just got back from my holiday; my parents were looking after my ferrets to find out my beautiful ferret Oscar escaped from his cage and someone killed him for being in there garden where they have rabbits. Was so upset and heartbroken just wanted to share with people who have had the same happen to them. In memoriam to all our little guys out there who are no longer with us.
