  1. Some Lurchers are obviously cleverer than others, for instance collie/grey. Some owners have their lurchers trained to a high standard of obedience. But they could not do the job of a gundog like a gundog could (there maybe a freak one out there somewhere). If you watch the dvd's of field trails, these dogs are excellent at their job. Its a bit like using a chiwowwow as a fighting dog instead of a pitbull. (again there maybe a freak one who jumps down the pitbulls throat and chokes him to death) So yes, saluki grey would be shite(as a gundog) But they certainly aint shite on hares, Horses f
  2. I dont know anything about Red stags, but some 25 yrs ago, I had my 3 quarter grey, quarter saluki. Big 29 inch, strong dog and very fast and very experienced. He had always held every stag single handed. I pulled up at a gate, opened it, flashed light up. Long thin field that run alongside the road and backed onto the forest. 60 foot in front of me was a herd of around 20 plus Sika hoping over the fence. Immediatly I noticed a large stag trotting in front of the does, nudging them to get over the fence, I watched this stag for around 5 secs. The dogs slip was tight, and he was ready. The sta

  7. I got caught by balifs on a brigde with handline, when they asked what I was doing, I told them I was flying my kite, and it sunk in the water. They didnt find it that funny. Mad thing was I always caught and released trout.
  8. More a patridge thing that surely..........not saying you wouldn't get any, of course some would come of roost early but the vast majority wont be. I'd find that a strange thing to do to get many numbers of pheasants when roost shooting them would be more effective. Whatever the case its still worth 2 barrels at about yards...... You love it Lab reel em in
  9. I hope everyone enjoyed my thread. It was supposed to give an insight into the bygone days to how it is nowadays. 20 or 30 yrs ago, life was some what different, no mobile phones, no internet, old cars, (bedford vans, vauxhall vivas, marinas, ford anglias). Very much like HEARTBEAT on the tv. There were no drugs. If you were lucky enough to discover the countryside, you looked after it. No one drove through fences or in fields. If you got caught, You took what came. Yes I admit I cut the fences when I was 18, But there was no need to kill my pride and joy car for lamping few rabbits on heri
  10. Mine has big can of princess pilchards or can of rice pudding in morning. Night time he has asda frozen mince with veg. Roast dinner on sundays. Keep meaning to go to makro and get him some chicken. Seems to be ok on this. This is roughly how I fed my dogs 20 yrs ago as well. Its probally come on a bit since then, so im always up for hearing peoples views and new things.
  11. where do you work then mate,?they arnt running from you they are runnig from fines cos all law is on keepers side, dont beleve your own bullshite mate?goto local pubs where these poachers drink if your so brave, no poacher is running from a fine on this ground I f*****g hate the plod and I don't need them to come and sort a poacher neither do I feel the need to shoot dogs or trash a blokes motor, I have taken my share of beatings in the past ,given a fair few too but fact is poachers run or hide they don't front up to the keeper unless they have numbers on their side. wish all keepe
  12. I think its if you go off road, some highway law. but not sure. Ive searched google before and have seen that people have been hare coursing, got a driving ban, dogs destroyed, motor taken. What if you take a glove that is used for hawking, and say the hawk flew off and never come back. the dogs were for flushing.
  13. I take it your a keeper I have my own game farm.... nice, could I ask you what you would do if you caught couple of lurcher men lamping rabbits on your land. away from your stock not bothering anyone ?
  14. I certainly wouldnt put a loaded gun to their chest, smash their motor up, Beat them up or call the police. I would let them tag along and if they were alright people, invite them back. Of course you would....maybe slip them £50 quid for fuel to get home eh!!! only if they had fat labs,on a lurcher forum Here we go again prickymick...............if i seen your mutts i'd just shoot them....they be better off anyway.. long way for me to come just to take all your birds keeper wanna be,,but you nd your fat labs couldnt catch cold, never mind me nd the poision corn trick on

  19. I expect half the keepers back then are dead now. And you could say you made it up. Wouldnt stand up in court. But yeah be carefull what you say.
