serious assualt served 12 months, i was charged in 1998 but not convicted till 1999 been nothing since apart from a breach of the peace in 2000, am i wasting my money doing the course?

I am going to knock up a larson trap this weekend but instead of using mesh for the sides i was thinking about using 12mm doweling (I'm a carpenter to trade and ther's plent of old doweling lying around the workshop) do you boys think this would be alright? and if so how far apart would i have to make the vertical rods?
