  1. Sounds like You have the same history as Me, we have kept Bull Terriers for more years than I care to remember. Stepped away from the breed due them having health problems. So we have gone like You completely different. We purchased a collie x greyhound 4 weeks ago. Like You he was clean in no time dry threw the night since he has been home. Sits, stays ect ect . I cant believe how easy he has been. I am still normally at the stop nipping My hands at 6 months old with a bully let alone sit, not a chance I have an old kennel dog who we could never get clean so thats why he is in a kennel. Eve
  2. Thanks for feed back, how big do you think he will make, He is 19" tts at just over 14 weeks. He was 15" at 10 weeks when we picked him up, so an inch a week!! How long does that keep up. Even the vet commented when he went back for his second jab at the rate he is growing. I would like to do a bit of mooching with him for rabbits when he is matured. I have a 30 acre permission, all of empty paddocks. What should I be doing with him at this moment. He has mastered sit, stay, get on, and is retrieving indoors. Been out of the lead and didnt stray to far and came back when called. I would like

  5. Great looking dogs on here, I have just bought My first ever lurcher, He is a 14 week red merle 5/8 Greyhound x 3/8 Collie and cant wait to get out and about with him next winter. Justin
  6. Cracking looking pups, and great to see them mixing with kids right from the get go, in My mind it just makes for a well mannered animal.
  7. Mum looks to have it all under control, a huge great litter good luck
  8. That's what i call a proper bull terrier!! The show bred ones are just ruined and hideous looking compared to this one! I would love for You to explain Your findings,If You are to breed a K.C registered dog You should strive to get as close to the breed standard as possible every time. It took Me over 15 years to go from a flat headed bitch, that was upright in the stifle, weak in the pasterns and had no top line at all, to what I am proud to own from constant traveling up and down the country looking at litter`s and what different stud dogs could bring to My line, reading pedigree after pedi
  9. As I have only owned a lurcher for two weeks, I will show You what I am used to, all Bullys breed by Myself, all had plenty of sucsess up and down the country in the highest lever of shows. All stupid and great temperaments Justin Dorothy.bmp Patch.bmp Star.bmp
  10. Cracking little pup, I have the same cross here He is only 12 weeks old and looks very similar to Yours Justin
  11. how come you only ever hear or see in the paper or on the news of staffordshire bulls bighting kids or even killing??? all them toss*ers walking around with there tank tops n through streets with there staff 30 yard in front of them.. why??? is it cool or something?? not saying you are one of them mate but them kind of people our going to make us have to have a license and insurance to own a dog soon.. Hi mate no I am a forty year old man, no tank top and looking tuff, Your argument answers itself. Dogs need to be taught and trained to be a social animal. There are loads of little sods rou
  12. Personally I think it may be a little foolish to 100% trust a dog with kids, having said that both My daughters grew up in a house full of Bull Terriers, a minimum of 4 but often up to 6. They both learnt to walk whilst holding a a bullys ears. I think as much as getting dogs bullet proof and put in every situation possible, in and around kids, The kids have to learn right from wrong around them also. I have never owned a Bull X Only Bull terriers and I will say they have a very high pain threshold. In My experience when other not so dog friendly toddlers came round, sometimes some little sod
  13. I`m no expert, but breed Bullys for many a year and had a few litters, non of them made Me a rich man. To do it right will cost You money. Just remember You have to feed them for 5 weeks at least 5 times a day. Good luck Justin
  14. All this silliness of people having a pop at people for having a litter for money does make Me smile, If I were to breed dogs for money it would`nt be for £200 (at best) lurchers. It would be for a dog I could earn a few quid at, because it is bloody hard work rearing a litter if done correctly. Is the bitch in whelp now? If so try to keep all new pups suckling from Mum as this stimulates Her uterus and will keep the contraction coming. This will save on a bitch from stressing and help to conserve her energy, for what matters rather than just scratch her bed up and panting. Sometimes with a
  15. NIce to see something full grown out of Tweedle Dum and to hear she works. I picked up My first ever lurcher last weekend. He is also out of Teedle Dum. I found David to be a very nice man, talked Myself and daughters right threw is history with lurchers and how they ended up doing what they do. I had read negative and positive stuff on them. I have to say I found the kennels in good clean order and dogs all looking well. Although I do not agree with how I was told to feed My pup, so have changed that to My own methods and in a short time is looking 10 times better. Justin
  16. some good advise given there.I am a big fan of crate training. We purchased our pup last weekend, when he came home He had never seen the inside of house, just left in a barn. So I am shocked that he is 99% house broke already. Even dry threw the night. He is then crated but will moan to go out I am more than happy to get up and let him out. As said above straight after a meal,or as they wake is the time they are most likely to need a toilet. So straight outside even if You have to stand in the pouring rain with her dont come in until the business is done, then loads of fuss. Hope I have been
  17. Seen the pic on here before, that dog is stunning and a credit to You. Thanks for the advise Justin
  18. gave Him a little bit of tripe an hour or so ago, just see how He goes. I know sometimes it can be a little hard to digest, so now just hoping He doesnt explode all over the wifes new rug I suppose its just trial and error to how much his food he will eat. Bull terrier pups will eat and eat until its pouring out of there ears. Cheers Justin
  19. Hi all I am pretty new here made a few posts. This is My first topic so would like some advise. Sunday we got our first ever lurcher. He is a 10 week old 5/8 greyhound 3/8 collie. Very different to what I am used to. Have a long history with dogs breed and showed Bull Terriers for many years. Over this time we had a dozen or so litters of cracking examples of the breed. Very different pups to what I have now. I used to feed them on tripe/beef and chicken right from being weaned. For Me when a pup left us at 8 weeks old they would weigh about 16lbs and be fed 5 times a day. Eating over a poun
  20. very nice and looks mature for 12months
  21. Pick up My first ever lurcher in the morning, it is also the first dog I have ever purchased with a mind to work it. Father-in-law has always had working spaniels and Labs. The first thing He said to drum into the pups mind is whistle commands. So I have a nice shinny whistle just waiting to be blown. So its great to see others using a whistle out in the field. Cant wait for the morning Justin
  22. Done plenty of matings with My boys other the years, always money first. Then in the case of No pups a free mating on bitches next season.THankfully My lads never missed and always had great matings. Justin
