  1. Cracking dog Malc what age did you start the fella and how old and what's the most you had with him yet. Looks a good build to him for an alsation x was it first x put back to grey or on those lines lol
  2. Did you get to see them in a hunting environment and did you find the hybrids had different temperaments by using different species of wolf, I could believe they would be hard to domesticate with people but a he'll of a hunting animal.
  3. Bird I have much respect for you and tbh your dogs are doing well but there are many ways to train lurchers and if I'm right flint08 takes all his out at 9 weeks to learn the trade as many others and he gets in the 60's with two dogs so it shows if done correctly both ways work I would love to get in those numbers but I've never had problem bringing them on younger I think each to our own but which ever way you enter them make sure you no what your doing and except that any failure in the dog is down to the owner hate people blaming the dog not there training
  4. What x is your older dog and what x is the young one, I bring em on young with certain breeds seems to bring the best out in them but a few breeds I would never do this with as they can't handle the test it gives to a young dog, alb fella
  5. Sorry for going off topic but in America they x huskies with wolves with upto % wolf in them there called wolf dogs and that's genuine ,you can own wolves over here but need a dangerous animals license and arnt aloud to x them now some wolves species can run up to 45 mph imagine x that with a greyhound to make them little more flighty and little more biddable and what a crazy hunting machine you would get just don't understand why Americans havnt done it
  6. A Siberian isn't as big as people think bitch 19-21 inch males 20-22 inch they were designed to be fast and like a saluki have plenty of wind designed to run flat out over extended periods plus in my observations siberians are faster then collies, plus thought I'd add a Siberian is of the same body mass as a collie but a Siberian was bred to be stronger with a better weight to strength ratio sorry for the long post lads just thought say my opinions
  7. The x has been done a few times now I believe, I think flint08 has done a litter and a bloke in wales has bred them by ebbw vale they'll be 13 weeks old tomorrow black and white malamute was the dam and sire a coursing grey. But tbh flint08 is the only one qualified on working ability as he's only bloke I heard who owns an adult working one the rest of us can only talk in theory
  8. Bit of a funny 1 but round by me you can bolt just as many rabbits with a terrier for your lurcher to chase and catch as lamping so why not just lamp your taking just as Many risks as lamping them around here as bolting them so I just lamp them my dogs seem smart enough not to run stupid and respect the ground there running on they just run at half pace, always done this and never in 10 yrs had a problem with injures, as long as the dog has the brain and education there fine, just my opinion
  9. All I've ever owned is beddy xS they make good dogs but a first x may lack on top end in the big fields but they die trying if you do decide in getting one in my experience make sure the beddie is the mum and if you can to a non ped whip, or a 2nd or 3rd generation 1st cross as they throw bigger if you get the right one and you won't go much wrong in my opinion
  10. One bloke mentioned that he couldn't see any difference in his two big or small has any one else found this as I've noticed a huge difference in big fields between me and my friends like said in the smaller fields my very turnable beddie is outstanding but larger fields lacked the pace on long open runs , thanks for all comments so far
  11. Isn't length a factor with height aswell adds to the stride so I believe. I was thinking something around 26-27tts a mate has a saluki/grey x 1/4 collie 3/4greyhound as got a lot better top end and suites our newer feilds well and does better then in the smaller fields where my beddie x becomes the daddy of the field lol, just looking for as much advice as possible before making my decision to rear a dog from pup to assist in future.
  12. What peoples opinion on larger lurchers over 26 inches with no whippet blood for rabbits how do they fair in the field compared to lurchers with whippet in them I've always had a beddy x whipet/greyhound but the fields I seem to be lamping recently on are larger and a think a larger x mite be some help to my beddy x as hes only 21tts, please no stupid comments just a genuine bloke looking for genuine advice thanks all
  13. hi lads just thought i'd let you lot know i picked up my pup yesturday from wales its 1st x husky/grey. wanted to say a big thankyou to brian its the best reared pup ive seen. she was 6 weeks sat i always like to hav them at that age seem to get a stronger bond and in the best shape and character ive seen at that age her strength is incredable all ready managin stairs and very clever. usualy when u first get a pup home they can be nervous, total opposite to this one lol she greets every1 and her energy levels are through the roof and already will play fetch up to 6 or seven feet lol she picked
  14. fair play mate looks a tidy dog, alot of experienced dogs with many season behind them struggle to catch that shows you've done right for him
