  1. its been said before a owner/ breeder can put any price they like on their animals the question is will a buyer meet the price? I know of some lads fixing the price at top dollar for their animals but should a right lad come along then sensible money changes hands. In the same instance seen inferior stuff in my estimation being knocked out for ludicrous money. Stock is such a variable that it would be difficult to put a benchmark price on even dogs of the same breed. A lad buying a dog should pay what hes comfortable with if the price doesnt suit then look elsewhere.
  2. Big gangly pups always look ungainly and awkward until they learn their trade. Its a commen misconception that tall dogs cant getdown quick enough to strike . Seen dogsat the top end height wise that will strike while going a full tilt.
  3. Some folks keep working dogs as a hobby/passtime. Others have them as a way to supplemwent income from breeding and studding. The serious stockman has a programme and goal of improvement and usually falls in the middle of the two types of owners. A good stock man usually has years of ownership/ working his stock , observing others charges and copious amounts of research. Tried and tested lines play an important role in breeding programmes , there is always the element of luck involved but homework usually bares results.Time spent improving stock in itself deserves its own rewards be they pers
  4. Plenty in North West Bosun, last couple of years they've been turning up occasionally within 500yds of my front door in Salford... Seen two in my freezer not far from Salford, Road casualties of course.

  6. Finished for the season now.One of my quietest seasons i can remember late start and early finish .it didnt get off the ground at all. Now two bitches in season and the quarry paired up all over the place, So not really sport for the big lad..Having said that seen plenty of half and three quater grown hares about all season . Hope its better next season Have a good Summer Boys ATB
  7. Plentyof lads from Northumberland / Durham area up and down every week to Yorkshire and further on sure one or two could sort te pup out for you.
  8. If dogs were meant to be herbivors instead of carnivors they would have completely different tooth configuration, their digesteve and metabolic systems would be totally different. Look at the prevalence of allergies e.g ear infections, skin conditions digestive disorders found in dogs fed mainly the complete feeds that are composed of vegetable/cereal matter. Raw meat fed dogs eapecially working breeds are far less prone to develop these conditions and disorders..
  9. Depending how many breeds are in the sire and dam, the pups could throw back to any of them. Colouring is also down to dominant genes even generations back

  13. Old age is when your brain can still process information. at 100 mile an hour but it takes your body a hour to catch up .Then when it finally does your brain has forgotten what you were thinking about and moved on.
  14. Thats being as naive as Desertbred,if we are talking percentages then the thug will outmuller the graceful one,yet many a fox slayer owns saluki ancestry, they run further, longer and dont suck the life out of their catch either. You boys have seen kc registered sofa surfers called UK salukis how many have seen the stuff out in ROO that work for a living? Not many i would guess and you call me nieve LOL
  15. Saluki guard dogs ay ? Dunno about that but I'd say they may do a good job alerting the neighbours after the intruder flicks its nose and the dog howls like a falceto werewolf at 100000db!! You really havent got a clue about the breed have you? Ive got a couple here now would really like to see you flick their nose They may want something more resilient to a flick of the snout I suppose its where you learn to handle your stock and who teaches you ,Folks that want to flick dogs in the snout need their cobblers tickling with a size 10 i suppose that would be resiliant enough but

  21. Get a well bred working saluki pup it will guard your house and stock also as well as get game and fox.
  22. Greyhound or whippet are there for the initial burst of pace so why would anyone want to substitute them with Saluki? if you want more hunting ability and staying power thats why the Saluki is there. If your hunts are over rough terrain and quite lengthy runs then Saluki gives the added value.
  23. i was originally told the COHA had a seat on the CA and that the new set up of AWL would be on the commitee, That is what we were led to believe at the time Trenchfoot and Skycat attended a meeting with Mr T Bonner in London. It was intimated that the seat would be available. Certainly fractures within hunting branches is not the way forward but a failure by CA to give a voice to all factions of dog work in the formulation of ongoing actions will result only in strengthening the hands of Lacs and Antis . Its understandable why younger generations are reluctant if not directly opposed to suppor
