anyone ever had a dog with no stamina??
feed the bear replied to scotty2306's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
LOL............ If a dog doesn't posses stamina, just like speed, no amount of work will improve it that much. Yes, hard work will get a dog to its running weight, fitness levels but hopefully everyone who runs a dog has their dog to this level before the season starts.... Heard it all now.You cant improve a dogs stamina with hard work. sigh........ OK, I'll explain as if your a retard, see if that helps..... Usain Bolt, fastest man on the planet, at the peak of his fitness, agreed? Do you think he'd win a marathon?.... Now think about it before you jump in..... He is at p -

You didn't run the dog in plough though, it went in it from the stubble. You ain't gonna stop it I'm afraid, comes with the territory of running in the winter.... Inevitably the quarry will use everything it can to evade capture and if that means dragging your dog though plough, fences, gates, trees, rivers..... then it will. If you don't want this to happen, do what most on here do...... just write about hunting!!!

Most cameras will catch a dog running mate...... You need to learn more about technic rather than throw money at a camera. You need as fast a shutter speed as the light will allow to freeze the photo. Your camera really needs to have a manual setting so you can set the shutter speed and aperture yourself. Also, when the dogs run past you or are running, move the camera with them, its called panning I think (been a while since I've read anything to do with photography) so that the camera is actually moving at the same speed so to speak as the object which is handy in low light. This will make t

Wasn't advocating use of an electric collar, you don't need to inflict any paint to be firm. Don't be patronizing, it's got f**k all to do with being 'big' or 'hard' or any kind of gender division, love has it's place. . . . .. . i love my dogs. But do they love me? Who knows. . . . . . . i can't exactly ask them can i? They may lick my face, jump on me and come for attention and snuggles, but that is exactly what they would do to the alpha dominant pack leader. . . . . the same leader they would kill / drive off and replace if he became weak. I think you hit the nail on the head with re

I love watching him run down the beam towards his quarry..... Made even the more sweeter since I got him one of those head lamps.... fits him perfect.... I just drive in the field in my 4x4, chuck him out the window and watch him lamp an entire field himself....... great -

the scottish lads are referring to triple wire fences, stone dyke walls ,thick high hedges and hares that are very well educated , due to the fact that us scotsmen do infact GET out there in the feild OFTEN. I have seen quite a few saluki drenched dogs not make the grade in this enviroment.no offence meant but as for turning off the pc mines was off and my dog WAS OUT TONIGHT ,WAS YOURS just an opinion of mine.atb Benny My post was not aimed at you Bendrover. And just for the record i was out until 11.30 pm walking the fields. My little faithful friend at my side.... fair doos

Spot on mate. I think Buttermilk got confused - no one was comparing their and her way of doing it and saying one was better, worse, or shit (other than her), they were merely highlighting the potential problems or dangers, which was what was asked for as advise, to which she then got defensive and proceded to discount it all based upon her personal experiance Don't be so utterly patronising Ideation....just because you can string a decent sentence together and use grammar properly, it doesn't make you the oracle. I didn't get confused or defensive....and I never said anyone's

The "heal" command is taught from an early age and adhered to on or off the lead, although personally i favour teaching it off lead. When walking next to cover, its pretty obvious from the level of noise when the dogs are about to flush something a bit bigger. In my experience very young pups (which is what the thread was initially about) will have a natural air of caution, allowing time for a distraction such as a whistle, to avoid a situation in which they may injure themselves. Again as i said as Spider matured he was restricted when and where it was necessary , nothing super speci
