I have used both, the .17 is a cracking little round. Very fast, flat and accurate. Devastating on bunnies at greateer distance than the .22. I have heard its not so good in a wind, but have not tried, so wont comment. All I can say is its a great round, try it, I'm sure you would like it. As previous, there are cons, its noisy, very noisy compared to a .22 and it does cost a lot more. However it wont richochet the same as a .22......something to consider depending on your ground. I will always have a .22, for the noise factor, the cost of the rounds and they are fun to shoot....very good rou

Wouldn't shoot a roe with it, not if you were intending it for the table. .270 makes a fair old hole in them. Better on the bigger boys. My shooting buddy uses one, he uses home loads, dunno the deets, but I will get them for you. Uses it mostly for reds and sika. I have seen a fox that he shot, when his .222 was in for repair....nasty mess. All the best Wullz....

Pure bred grew, Kellistown Chico, brought over from Ireland...complete jessie....basically a big rug that sleeps, eats and sh@tes....but would not swap him for owt. Great dog, but no chance of making a worker out of him....unless you were after squirrels or cats. His pet name is Troy....not chosen by me either.

I used a 55 grn mate, great round and a brilliant all round calibre, hope you get on all right with yours. Hope you put in for roe and vermin on it....

6 pointer mate, misleading photo! I'll get one of the head up after its been cleaned....

Sounds the business, get in there and find out who owns it and be nice to them! Just watch out for who accesses the place, we had some little shoites destroy our hides last summer. They broke them down, must have taken a decent effort, chucked all our feed bins and seats in the quarry as well......good job we were not around. We will be watching out for them this summer.... Let us know how you get on mate, best of luck!

No bother mate! We got onto that land through the farmer, we did a good job for one farmer and he told this fella and he asked us to do something for him. We did and have been on the land ever since..... If its a disused quarry, find out who the landowner is and approach them.... If there is water lying, more often than not, you will get ducks on it at somepoint, we just make sure they come back by feeding...we feed avery week, 2 or 3 times a week and only shoot it once a fortnight.....gives it a chance to settle. Dukcs just know where water is, especially if its sheltered and

It'll work alright, we do exactly the same thing you are talking about. We have built some hides round the sides using old pallets and some big posts...works perfectly....just keep feeding. We get all manner of ducks, plus we get canadas as well, they are a pest (ha!) as they scoff mountains of feed.... If you have any questions, would be only to happy to help!

Hi, went out for a sit last night, were planning on waiting out for a fox and doing a few rabbits as we waited. My mate took his .17 and I had the .222. Anyroads, we had 4 rabbits in the bag and were having a bit of gab when we heard this fellow barking in the field over the back...took a sneak over and there he was, chasing a yearling buck round the field......walked into range and the .222 took care of the rest - nice one! Did regret leaving the roe sack in the car though....it was a fair drag back.... regards Wull....

Is it windows explorer or internet explorer thats causing the bother?

Is The Grey Squirrel Killing Of The British Song Bird
Wullz replied to Catcher 1's topic in General Talk
Same my way, massice pressure on the wee things. My feeders were out all year and I never had to fill them!! Birds are really low in numbers. We have all the usual tree-rats, corvids (all types), cats and sparrowhawks too...loads of them. I see one regularly in my garden, sits and looks at me...not timid at all. I reckon its the magpies...deffo. Problem is we are in a semi-rural location and if one of these nancy pants do gooders sees me either trapping or slotting a bird or 'nice wee squirrel' in the garden, then I am for the high jump! I have put anti-squirrel things on the feeders and try -
Same thing happened to me on.....my auld staff found next doors cat mouching about my garage. (Had two injured sparrowhawks in there in cages.) He dealt with it most severely. The noise was amplified as you can imagine, so they knew what had happened to Smarty(!) and reported me. Luckily the plod who was involved is a mate and a shooter/fisher, so when he arrived he told them the law on the matter, if the cat wanders onto your property, then it has to look out for itself. You have nothing to worry about mate, they cant have it both ways. Right to roam and you have to protect it as well? No dan

He's a cracker, would love to take him on, but I think he would do for my greayhound and the missus would do for me (new baby due end of March). Belter though, I'll have a word with my mate, he has an 14 year old staff that I bred, he may be looking for a replacement.....

Poor fekkers, I landed there a couple of years ago on route to a wedding. It was the worst landin ever, very windy place....plane was all over the shop. There was a stag do on our plane and there was not a cheep out of them. Everyone had a white knuckle grip....my mrs didnt want to go home on the plane, she was desparate to go home a different way. Thoughts go out to the families.......very sad.

Here is my Webley Senior air pistol in .22. I dont know the exact model or year, maybe someone on here does? Its in brilliant condition, hardly a mark on it, blueing is complete and there are no scratches. It has slight chewing on the front screw head, nothing really, I guess the person who gave it to me must have had the .177 fitting for it at some time and damaged the screw changing it over. Lovely gun, nice and solid in your hand. I'm looking for around £150 for it.

Nice one Billy, charlie, deer and rabbits too, good bit of permission to get back. I have access to a 9 holer over here, but its shot to bits, we have started using a 17 on it. It's the only way to get near them. There are another couple of courses right next to us, never considered approaching them. Might do now tho!
-
NIce one Billy.....good shooting, out the shoulder too? Brave! I would have got pelters if I had missed it!
-
Nice one mate, good to get off the mark. We will be out after them next week.....nightshift plays havoc with sport!

Somebody buy this, it'll do a great job. I have had a MK1 Pajero now for 11 years, easy to service, bits are cheap and they go on and on....cant praise them enough...tough and reliable!
