England Selby game fair
rapidjenky replied to surrey lass's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
they were really good to me, let me run my pup from half way down the course on her own as she was only a pup for a bit of fun and it was free, thought that was nice of them. the actual racing was a bit of a shambles, no one really knew what was happening and who had won which round etc, was all a bit chaotic. i mate i walked down and asked if there was any chance of giving my lad a run, the woman looked at him and said no he isnt a lurcher. like i said he loves the lure and runs them at every show i take him to never been a problem before.what was the worst that could happen, he comes -

England Selby game fair
rapidjenky replied to surrey lass's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
went today, was just like any other show. it was ok better then sitting at home. thought the lure racing was a joke, all i wanted was to enter my bull for a run and they wouldent let me, tossers. said if i wanted to run him to put him in the fun run! would of shown some of the so called lurchers up anyway but all i wanted was to let him have a run as he loves it. most of the stalls were over priced but it was a walk round and kept the missus happy. -
looking for a sly way to transport ferret....
rapidjenky replied to patterdalejoel's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
when i was a kid we always used cloth bags to take our ferrets out with metal rings sown in the sides for breathing holes. i never ever had a problem but i would only ever use a box now. i also had a ferret i used to carry around under my hat on my head lol, it used to curl up and go to sleep while we walked around. -
i feed a lot of fresh lamb heart mate. never had a problem.

slowing down but i wont be stopping. i have my permission to do as i please and keep the guy happy so instead of taking everything i can ferreting, shooting ect ill just go steady with the dogs. take the odd few here and there. keeps the guy sweet, keeps me and the dogs going and wont hit the population very hard as once the cover is up the dogs have very little chance and there isnt much open ground left. mines mostly crop fields and rough ground for the pheasants. the other is a few grass fields with loads of cover to allow the bunnys a safe retreat.

i put this up ages ago but nothing came of it. just wondering if any of the lads who make the quality cattys i keep seeing would be interested in making me one in exchange for some nice rams horn? catty would need to be set up ready to go, fitted with good bands so i can just get out with it with no messing around. let me know if anyone is interested as the rams horn is really hard to get now, well for me it is. im a slaughterman and its been months since ive seen a set worth keeping.

make sure you give them a chance mate. they probably wont have a clue to start with but no reason why they wont learn. you never know they might just click straight away but dont expect to much to soon. if you can get them out were there is plenty of stuff for them to find and with other dogs working so they pick it up abit quicker. my bull bushes for me and puts some stuff up but he wont use his nose, he just runs threw cover looking for movement. ive moved on to terriers to do the job but my mate has 2 big alapaha bulls and they use there nose and are coming on very well.
