Air arms pro sport any good ?
pianoman replied to Rapidroxy's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Chaff. It was Ken Turner who designed and developed the Pro Sport. I have a lovely Pro Sport in .22. I had to reshape the butt cheekrest and grip of the stock as I'm left handed. The only thing wrong with the Pro Sport is Air Arms bizarre refusal to make a dedicated left-handed version in production. That's the only negative I can speak of it. But, the Mannelli walnut stock is easy to sand and shape with a bit of careful work and can be turned into a really comfortable handle for a left-handed shooter like me. Other than that, it is possibly the finest underlever spring pi -
Filthy fat perverted bast@rd, I hope he gets his arse shredded.

Something's not right when a man has to give up something he loves and enjoys . Hope you are alright mate.
-
Good God! This is the same Malcolm Barnard. No mistaking him for someone else?

Sports match two piece mounts every time for me. These will give full adjustment and thus, far more precise scope placement for perfect eye relief than one-piece mounts do. Simon

Properly put and straight to the point for all of us here Jimmy. Alas, the RSPCA and sections of the public are ignorant of the care and concern for shooting in a humane and highly responsible, professional manner, those of us who make up most of the active air rifle shooting community conduct our sport by. It's all too easy to blame an airgun shooter for acts of cruelty like this. So we get the blame. The trouble is, there are morons out there who can, just as easily as we can, buy any airgun on a whim to cause trouble with it. And we get tarred with the same brush. The

One of the greatest, most accurate spring underlevers ever devised by the hand of man. Mine is a .22 and beyond price and never to be sold. I've had nothing but fantastic summers and autumns of great shooting with it. Simon.

Get an FAC and a nice, well sorted .223 if you want to shoot foxes. But NEVER with any air rifle. Airguns are not for foxes mate.

The recommended muzzle-energy punch for FAC .177 air rifle tuning is about 16 to 18 foot pounds of energy, as a general rule of thumb, if you are to combine increased power with effective accuracy. So, your average .177 pellets would not withstand the blast of 100ft/lbs of energy blasting into the thin skirts of your average diablo waisted pellet. Probably, these will shatter and just get spat out in fragments. Certainly they would just skid over the rifling grooves without properly spiralling along them and lose all gyroscopic spin stability. The pellet would just exit the barrel and zi

Fx streamline .177 laminate x barrel !
pianoman replied to vizlauk's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Blimey Sean, do you really need to sell it? If you can keep it alongside these two new ones coming, you could have an incredible trio. Selling a superb rifle ultimately leads to a bit of heartbreak and regret. More than the money you get back. Best regards mate. Simon. -
Arguably the finest spring piston underlever of all Mark. That said, the HW77 is a masterpiece of simplicity and accuracy in a different form. Not as pretty, but just as incredible to shoot with. Best wishes for continued great shooting Mark. Best regards. Simon.

Bloody Hell Jimmy, you have some fluctuations in your fortunes my dear pal. You won't be long without a gun mate I'm sure. Sounds like you have something nice and special coming in anyway. God bless and fondest love and best wishes to you and Nicola. Simon and Helen.

YES! As well as all the above replies. Nab it fast!

You can have genuine pellet on pellet accuracy at 35 metres with a variety of spring rifles in both .177 and .22 caliber. But the pleasure of shooting them, to me, at least, is how a spring rifle handles, feels and shoots as it delivers that level of accurate pellet placement on to the target. For me now, it's my AIR ARMS PRO SPORT .22 That rifle is just about perfect as a sub12 ft/lb spring piston air rifle can get. Mine has been tuned with a TBT drop-in kit and fettled by Tim/Charlie Caller here. Beautifully smooth to cock and shoot, accurate as it gets and full-on power for hunti

HW95. HW85 are pretty lightweight springers Jimmy. But to be honest, an HW35 ain't what I'd call heavy. Maybe a lightweight PCP would suit him better?
-
I'd love a run round an HFT course with my .22 HW80. Accurate as any PCP but, one small snag for the rules. It's on ticket and too powerful. Oh well.

Depending on what you require to be done Bryan. Sandwell Field Sports are brilliant with Springers generally. Plenty of excellent tuning kits available. And tuners of course.

DIANA MAUSER K98 OVERVIEW PICS.
pianoman replied to pianoman's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Nice HW77 Mark, was this once Jimmy's rifle? One of the features I love about the HW77 full length rifle, when I first bought mine, is its handling and very much like the Mauser K98. Especially with the early Mk.1 stock that Jimmy refurbed for me. Now I have this Mauser K98 proper, I'm totally sold on them. I will definitely be adding the .22 version as soon as l can. Just a tremendously good fun rifle to shoot and really collectable as classic pieces of air gun and rifle history I reckon. .And despite what some reviews on YouTube have said, this rifle has more than enough -
DIANA MAUSER K98 OVERVIEW PICS.
pianoman replied to pianoman's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
It's a truly beautiful, solidly made rifle Jamie. You are most welcome to pop over here and have a shot or two with my guns. The rifle is hefty at a shade over 9lbs unscoped. And the point of balance is nose-forward by a good 9 inches ahead of the trigger guard. I'm going to run her in with a tinful of ammo then look to getting her tuned, if Tim/Charlie Caller can help me with that? It twangs like hell but it is a seriously accurate rifle and deserves refining. You will love it I'm certain mate. All the best Jamie. Simon -
I don`t think i`ll ever buy another PCP.
pianoman replied to mark williams's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I have two PCPs and that will be my lot. Unless of course, some maker brings out a truly beautiful classical, bolt action hunting rifle with the cylinder fully hidden in the forend. Yes they are accurate, recoilless and ultimately forgiving of a lot of bad habits in handling. But, you miss a lot of what makes shooting a pleasure with these things. Composing the shot, building a gentle, finesse in the hold and pressing the shot off. Nothing more satisfying than a clean, humane headshot at distance with a top notch spring rifle. That HW97k and Endurance scope you have is a deadly, blis -
DIANA MAUSER K98 OVERVIEW PICS.
pianoman replied to pianoman's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Hi Mark, thanks mate. This is what your purchase of my HW97K has been turned into.... The scope is a BUSHNELL SCOPECHIEF 4-14x50 AO. It's clocking on 20 years old but still is very accurate zero and holds it throughout any amount of recoil, and very good at range finding just reading off the markers on the focus ring. I've used it on every new rifle I had to test pellets, but, it's staying put on this Mauser K98. This Diana TO6 trigger is a recent development from Diana, and it is seriously lovely. Right there with the Rekord and Air Arms CD You can adjust first stage take up, -

When can we expect you down then Jimmy?! Get one of these mate, you will absolutely love it! Doesn't matter what calibre. It's a feckin' masterpiece. Handles and feels exactly like its 8mm original sister. Trigger's seriously, out-of -this -world good! .303 Enfield Mk3 or a Garand M1 rifle would be superb. They could build them on this 460 chassis. Cheers buddy. Simon. -
DIANA MAUSER K98 OVERVIEW PICS.
pianoman replied to pianoman's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Here's a few pics of the Diana Mauser K98 in .177 caliber. The rifle is starting to bed in now and today's shooting produced some lovely raggedy, single hole groups at 30 metres. This rifle is a springer. There's no gas ram in it, despite some reviews saying it is, that's crap! It is,l believe, based on Diana's brilliant 460 Air Magnum underlever. So this rifle will tune up to FAC level, 16 ft/lbs output. Perfect for a .177 air rifle on ticket. But, as it is now, it has all the accuracy and power you need to make this a really effective, accurate hunter. And that's what I'll be usi
