Air rifle humane kill range

To be honest, and with the greatest of respect, I cannot possibly comprehend how a computer programme can accurately give you every variable from shot to shot. Other than Si's experience and get a reasonably close-to-the-mark avarage perhaps. But not the whole deal. I know only one way to get a shooter's accuracy sorted with the best computer in the world. The one between your ears and behind your eyes. Put a rifle to the shoulder, sort the breathing, trigger pressure and hold; and start practicing on a target. It's the best method with the best computer of all so far! Simon -
Hahaha! Andy, I just knew he'd be back with a Chinese junk!

How did I miss this?? Sorry John but, yes, they are amazing scopes and I hope you got sorted out with the 6.5-20X50 spec. Regards Simon

Accuracy problems, some HELP please gents
pianoman replied to redeye jedi's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Anybody had similar issues with anti tamper devices? Could one of these things cause this? -
So pleased to have been of service to you SS. As an alternative to licking your hand every few shots, try using a real leather glove. I always wear one on my leading, supportive hand as it has just the right amount of grip with a bit extra cushioning. But if my suggestions are helping improving your shooting, that's thanks enough mate. I like the look of that V-Mach muzzle brake and cocking handle you have too. I like my foresight and lock-up unit as fitted standard, as I like to refit the rear sight and shoot with open sighta, as well as a scope. But there is a German made silencer with a

Accuracy problems, some HELP please gents
pianoman replied to redeye jedi's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Hi Dom. I don't shoot pre charged rifles but, this sounds clearly like you have an unstable power/muzzle energy issue if your ammo is grouping fine then, going wild and you are running out of air in the cylinder much quicker than normal. I do know that the higher the muzzle energy from Pcp rifles, the more air they draw from the cylinder and thus the fewer shots per fill. A chrono test will only serve to record the levels of deviation taking place. You could try phoning a good airgun dealer in your area and explain what's been happening and arrange for him to make a thorough test of the -
Nice to see this Peter. Reminded me a lot of the times I had as a young lad with me dad. Cheers fella . Simon

Hi penguinhunter and welcome here mate. Jesus I hope not. Mixy really flattened my shoot last year. But you really must get yourself a try-out with a Weihrauch HW77. Calibre doesn't matter, .22, .20 or .177, it's all the same with this beautiful rifle. ATB Simon

Air rifle humane kill range
pianoman replied to North Wales Hunter's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Hi Jono. BSA Meteor was never a real powerhouse hunter but a darn good little plinker. You need to have your rifle's power checked out with a chronograph. If it is producing around 10,5 to 11.3 foot pounds muzzle energy, it's good for hunting up to about 30-35 metres range alright but, the next thing to consider is you, the shooter. You must never shoot at a living creature beyond the range at which you are able to GUARANTEE a clean headshot on the brain. Ask yourself this honest question. If you had to bet £1,000 of your own money on the MAXIMUM range at which you can put ten shots fr -
Great read there Silentshot1! 45-metre Crow shot and a 35-metre rabbit! Wow! Nothing to prove with a shot like that mate. There is nothing to beat the Weihrauch HW77. For sheer accuracy with tough durability alone, this rifle truly deserves the title "Airgun Of The Millenium" and not that over-rated, bottle-swallowing ugly stick from Theoben. Whether she's 22 years or 20 hours old, she'll shoot a storm with blistering accuracy straight out of the box and NEVER pack up on you. I'm interested to read yours likes Air Arms Fields though. Definately going to try those in my own

Air rifle humane kill range

No apologies necessary Matt bud! I left out details as I figured I'd be merely teaching grannies to suck eggs by now! As long as a post or thread contains workable facts and not twaddle, that's the main thing! All the best Simon -
I'm an old-fashioned, dyed-in-the-wool stickler for correct English and this modern-day text gobbledegook that people seem to use, far too readilly it seems these days, is just another poor bloody show of the mass-illiteracy that abounds today. There is no need to precis or abbreviate words and phrases here and if I was a mod, I'd happily delete threads or responses that were unintelligable! As it is, I get to a point of switch-off and go elsewhere about this section. I'm not going to be so arrogantly pig-headed as to dismiss good posts and threads just because they contain a few spellin

Air rifle humane kill range
pianoman replied to North Wales Hunter's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Aha a misunderstanding I see! Okay Matt. Reading it back... I made no reference to actually supporting the hand as the usual application of a shooting stick or bipod means the rifle is rested directly on these devices. With a spring rifle this clearly does not work; that much we agree on. What I meant was the spring rifle, itself, is supported by, or rested upon the palm of the leading hand only. Resting it, alone, on bipods, sticks or any solid rest is not recommended, because of the 2-way nature of a typical springer's recoil. It will bounce against the firm, undamped surface of a solid -
If some thieving ferral animal tries to burgle your home and he's carrying a usable weapon like a crowbar, we should have the right to defend ourselves and our loved ones by all and every means necessary. Including lethal force. Good to see a Judge take the right line for a change Shame he wasn't presiding over Tony Martin's case.

All the rifles you mention really are not that heavy Adam. To hear some people, you'd think these were made from billets of solid lead! But...my boy Josh is only 14 and a small-framed lad and he's happily shot with my TX200s and Weihrauch HW80 and HW77 without problems. I have all the rifles you ask about and the very best is the Weihrauch HW77. Mine is the full length .22 and it's virtually recoiless and as accurate as an air rifle is possible to be. The TX200 and TX200HC carbine is very good indeed. Especially in .177, it is honestly superb and there's no noticeable weight diffe

For my tuppence worth. All my rifles are recoiling springers, including FAC tuned HW80 which can wreck a cheap scope. I've used 2-piece Sportsmatch double-screw clamp mounts for years on all my rifles and never had a single problem of movement with any of them. The beauty of the two piece mount is the fact you can adjust the spacing between them on the length of scoperail, to better ballance the weight of the scope, with the weight of the rifle to maintain good overall ballance at the shoulder and forehand. Single-piece mounts do not give you this degree of control; other than a firm c

what is the most quiet airrifle straight out the box
pianoman replied to fazerman's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Hi Tony. Air Arms TX200 and Pro Sport are fairly quiet straight from the box, as their bull barrels contain baffles around the actual bores that act as an in-built silencer. Perhaps bull-barrel pcps' like the BSA R10 and AirArms S510 work the same way? Otherwise, unmoderated pcp rifles tend to go with a fair old crack. secretagentmole. Gas? Pcp rifles are charged with air and air is all they use mate. Gas is the combustable vapour from a liquid propellant; like petrol, butane or propane surely? Simon. -
TRU GLO SIGHTS??.... Say no more! Ooooh...'bloody great pig just went past the rooftops!

Unbelievable is the operative word with you here Steve laddie. After all you've just been through with AGF members accusing you of scamming and lying the arse off them; to vehement denials from you. And here you are; proudly telling the world how you've shafted your own brother out of his HW97K for a Hatstand pile of bollocks. I'd have loved to have heard the bullshit you must have spun to con that out of him. Because I'll never believe in a million years he made the first move with all his wits and intelligence about him. Either he's a total numpty with no idea of what he h

Great write up and pics Millsy (whaddya mean "getting tired" of your write-ups?? NONESENSE!! Keep em coming!) Nothing like getting a new rifle "Blooded"! Seems all my rabbits have headed up North to your way or, down South where Si and Davy are shooting. Nothing doing much here right now. ATB Simon
