  1. A hearty welcome young fella. Now, you can see there are a few angry fellas here who've had bad dealings with a certain individual and his brother and, well let's say they would happily shoot the pair of them is an understatement! So don't take it personally. A proper introduction with your name and where you are from, in the first place, would have helped save you this rather embarrassing entre. Sorry for your rather bumpy welcome! Simon
  2. Hello mate. Coming late on the responses John but, that was a great read and pics of your lovely permission. Now isn't that just a perfect way to spend a couple of hours of an evening. Out with your spring rifle, (and your dog, in your case) and no worries about it's reliabilty, running out of air, or accuracy. Ahh just fine. The walnut stock you've got is a beautiful cut of timber John. Air Arms do source some truly gorgeous strains of walnut for their rifles. No mistake. Your permission looks lovely too. There is a magic, just stalking by your fieldcraft with a superbly built, wel
  3. As with the above very sound advice. I always build my spring rifle accuracy on a 25-metre zero. That enables me to shoot at all ranges very accurately with an understanding of my pellets trajectory for hold-over or hold-under range calculation. I prefer using Metres to yards as they give very precise range-difference measurement results when you are calibrating your scope with your rifle and pellet. Start with a measured range to 50 metres using 5-metre increments and you'll soon be shooting right . Simon
  4. ANDY! NO MORE KEBAB!!!. We are shooting tomorrow and your arse has been through enough. I'd like to shoot a few rabbits... not see you feckin' gas em!
  5. Mike seems pretty certain of his accusation. What makes you so certain of your post Mike? The word here really is, if you are a genuine fella, you'll be made very welcome and accorded respect. If not, you will be sussed out very quickly and called out. There's a lot of this shit been going on and it's natural for people to feel angry. This is the same bloody lowlife breed that used their own little girl to create a plight of loss, that had kind, decent people wanting to help out buy "her" a new rifle. Except, it turns out, thanks to a switched-on, honest dealer, what rifle was wanted
  6. That was a great read Craig. You should do more write ups mate . Amazing how the actions of newcomers to fieldcraft read. Were we that inept when we started out?! ATB Simon
  7. I can well understand your anger Ulverston moocher. So, as I'm not the cliquy, f****r that's holding anyones cock here, I wanna ask this newbie straight up. Killer 11. Are you this David Graham scamming f**k brother of Steve Graham?. Or are you a decent lad who'se been unfortunately mistaken for someone else? It's simple to answer mate. Either you are or you ain't. And if you don't answer, then your accusers are right! What's your ANSWER laddie??
  8. Hi Tony. I don't want to add to a perfectly good answer from Mark but, the Police will take the view that, this CAREER air rifle is a cat.1 firearm, that can be merely adjusted in power.... It's no defence whatsoever for your mate to say; "I've been good and only shoot it on the sub-12 ft/lb power setting". The maximum power output the rifle is capable of, is the benchmark the Law uses to determine legality for ownership or the level of offences with air rifles. There are decent guys who have bought and shot with a sub 12-ft/lb from a reputable dealer, and STILL have been caugh
  9. Hang on... The Flashing Blade...!? I'm still astonished you are old enough to remember that one, Don Alonzo!
  10. Hiya Paul. Aye lad, I went out with my .22 HW80K as I've had a brilliant shoot with it the other night and wanted to get back into hunting accuracy with it again. Had a practice session today and the bloody oily barrel slipped out of my hand and slammed home shut. Bust! It's gone north. Bent upwards in the breech block. Just bloody thankful it didn't wreck the scope, stock and cylinder face. It's very kind of you to let me have your spare .22 barrel mate. I'm going to get a new barrel from Hull Cartridge just as soon as I can afford it. I think they are about squid. I'll try to
  11. As I understand it Mark, it seems the measure is to keep our under-18 year old children and their mates from gaining easy, usupervised access to dads air rifles. There was a fatal accidental shooting here in West Yorkshire last year with a young lad who got hold of his dad's air rifle (AA S410 .22 I think it was) and shot his younger brother dead with it. This is what is to be prevented. The police are not insisting on FAC Firearm levels of security. Just a secure place where kids can't get access to them. Gunsafes are a good idea though, as there is always a chance of a burglar about. You nev
  12. Welcome to the section Mazing. Well shot and a good read mate Simon
  13. Never heard of Shrike as a scope maker but, a google search might provide the answers you seek, if no-one here can help with a bit of background info. Of course, the best way to find out if your scope is compatable with your air rifle, is to bolt it on, zero it up and shoot with it Pianoman
  14. You are not wrong about your HW80 being the rough weather bramble beater John. Had my FAC HW80K .22 out yesterday with Andy over and the winds absolutely blasting the fields. Still, it flattened two rabbits at over 40 and 30 metre ranges from two near oblique angles against the winds. Andy whacked a couple of rabbits on his mooch about with his HW90 Gas Ram. When you need to shoot very accurately against some bloody hard weather, the good old Weihrauch spring and gas ram rifle still rules the roost in my book. Simon
  15. Aww yeah! That's a Wurz-post! Thanks mate, it's a great read! Good to see you taking care of a young lad. Not easy as they truly have the patience of a nano second. I'm going to take you up on that offer to come shoot with you one fine day and do some mental-distance long range shooting with your right-handed Prosport. I'll swear it could match your Weihrauch HW100 for long range precision accuracy. There's just nothing better than a rifle at your shoulder that talks to you through every shot. Great read and pics mate. Simon
  16. As with Darryl. I have licensed FAC level air rifles as well as sub-12 ft/lbs rifles. So, I keep all of mine locked in a police-approved steel cabinet, bolted to a supporting wall in a secured, lockable room in my house. Sorry no pics. I don't have the I.T know-how, and I don't want my firearms security arrangements shown on a public forum anyway. Simon
  17. Great stuff, Tony and John. No pressure or hurry but, you lads put some great shooting into your trips and it's good to read about them. You both write very well. I know what you mean John about the prosport and 100 variants of amazing accuracy it can hit a fly's botty at distance....but it's great to read all the same. You have nothing less than a masterpiece work of the air rifle maker's art now. Tony, if fuel wasn't such a b*****d price, I'd run up' M62 to pick you up from Hull and bring you over for a good day's shooting with me and Andy and get you home again pal . Go
  18. Mary empty your message inbox please? I've been trying to PM you about your visit to my shoot here. Thanks. Simon.

  19. Yeah, I miss Si and Davy and the regular lads comments and hunting posts. Be nice to read something from you Tony. A write-up from Wurz on a hunting sortie or two, or generally how he finds shooting with his new Air Arms Prosport would be nice to read..sometime..you know. Simon
  20. FPS is what I meant. Goddammit! Thank you Andy. Don't know what I'd do without you! Simon
  21. Just having a joke Banjoman. No insult inferred or intended. Sorry.
  22. Craig's point about power and field craft holds a lot of truth Peter. A consistent 10 to 11.5 Ft/lbs output makes for a far sweeter accurate shooting rifle than 12 or over, quite regardless of the legal schmeagle. Fieldcraft really is as important as the rifle you shoot with. But, just as importantly I think you both sound like your confidence has taken a bit of a knock. You've got the best kit anyone could buy, sorted, And yet... there are misses at what seems give-away ranges and the rabbits you see are wary as hell and they are off at the merest hint of someone being there. Time fo
  23. Thanks Simon for your good wishes and sound advice, I do lack a bit of basic coaching but i'll get there The new stock is now fitted as standard on the HW95, I don't know about any other models, it is still only shown on the Weirauch web site fitted to the Lexus 95. It's unfortunate we live at different ends of the country otherwise you would be more than welcome to give it a try. I remember you saying that you use SFS, have you ever had a gun tuned by them or if not would you consider it? Best regards Andy Hi Andy. Short answer. Yes I would have Tony Wall tune m
  24. BSA Ultra needs a TENCH reg to get the best performance out of it. Very accurate though. BUT, IMHO AIR ARMS S410 makes the better rifle.
