Hi Davy and thank you mate. That's so kind of you to say!Not sure about Easter, whether in Yorkshire or down in this beautiful part of the country. I would certainly love to bring a couple of my rifles and kit down when I pop back down and meet up with you for a shot or few. You really do have some bloody lovely looking countryside here! And equally gorgeous women! The best to you mate. Simon -
I hope Bisley Gun Grease is Organic...

You seem to be having a testing day old lad! I think you will be alright so long as you haven't swallowed a great deal of it milegajo. Can anyone stump up a cocking link pin for a TX200 rifle to help our friend here? Simon -

Hi Si. Thanks so much mate. I'm seriously up for the June meet. Wurz has kindly offered me a ride up with him and I think Andy wants to go too, so that one is well on the cards. It would be a pleasure to have you over again on my permission with Andy. We had one of the best shooting days ever (was it really a couple of years ago?!!!)! Your own beautiful lady PM'd me and Andy inviting us to a surprise party for your Birthday around the time..And that's when the shit hit the fan for me and I had to go into defcon One mode! Still, I kept my rifles and all my scopes and kit. Not even God hims -

Hi Stevo! That Diana 46 is still a beautiful rifle in my eyes, and I suspect the same for Gurtwurz. He loves the lines of stutzen stocks on spring underlever rifles too! It was only just a day over getting the cash in my hand to buy the one I saw in Guns International's close-down sale....and it was gone! Snapped up by a moneybags who was buying everything up! I seem to remember Wurz had a similar situation where he had the thing almost in his hands but, there was a cock-up with delivery of it to his dealers. Still, the HW77 I bought instead has more than compensated me with what it do -
You make a good point about the standard of service here Moley. A bloody poor show, selling a defective air rifle to a good customer supporting the business, in the depths of a recession! Gamo took over BSA sometime ago and the standard of BSA airguns have suffered appalingly with declining, cost-cut build and component quality ever since. Truth is, Air Arms spring rifles and ALMOST ANY Wiehrauch spring rifle will prove itself worth any money spent, in the hunting field. Both these makers are proven, quality gunsmiths and their ranges of rifles are beyond reproach in my experience.
-
With a defective safety catch you have very justifiable grounds to demand a refund Benjamin! Alas it's true that BSA are not the makers they once were. The Supersport you have was made when the company was still a strong, all-British concern making quality products. I have Wiehrauch and Air Arms spring rifles that are over 10 years old and, apart from replacing worn springs, they go on shooting as smooth and as beautifully true as the day I bought them. They cost a fair bit of money true, but, considering the years of enjoyment and utterly reliable service in the shooting field th

That's a lovely job you've done there Craig. I always thought an HW95 or 98, dressed in a Custom Stock walnut stock and a decent scope would make a beautiful little sporting hunter. And here's the proof! With accuracy as good as this you should be able to take rabbits out at 50 metres, no problem! How good a rifle is that! Simon

Now there you go. Just what I'm talking about with you lads here! Well, Helen is no shooter but, she's fully understanding and appreciative why we shoot and the sport we derive from our hunting. She lives in Chippenham-I'm there now on her laptop; and when I get things fully turned around, I will be moving down here and sorting a house and new art studio out and live happy ever after! I'll have a word with my landowner mate so Andy (FR1968) will "inherit" my permission...and I still have some shooting when I return to Yorkshire from time to time. I've been trying to keep out hunting on my -
Dear lads. I've been absent a fair while from here as, I've been going through serious shit but, hey, that's getting put away now. i just want to post a very heartfelt and sincere note of thanks to those of you who sent me such kind messages. I'm with a very beautiful lady called Helen down here in Wiltshire, who supports my shooting (Most important ) and I still have all my rifles and scopes after a not very pleasent break-up with my ex! I still do not have a computer but that should be resolved soon-ish. So apologies that I have not been able to answer spring rifle shooting queries

Hi Lewis. AIR ARMS FIELD. 4.51MM head size .177 are the only choice for this rifle in this calibre. Others may perform okay-ish but, these perform with ultra precision accuracy from my TX200HC. If these do not produce pellet-on-pellet, one-hole groups at 45 metres, your barrel will almost certainly prefer 4.52mm heads. Good luck and try them mate. Simon

Spring air rifle shooting.
pianoman replied to pianoman's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Hi boropiker and welcome here mate. Nothing wrong with the dear old vulcan! I had one back in the day and a fantastic rat and rabbit rifle it was. However, things have moved on a bit since the heydays of Webley as a great British gunmaker!!!! Other guys will have their favourites but here's mine to be going on with. Wiehrauch HW95 is a beautifully made and accurate little break-barrel. HW80 full length model has all the heft and power for hide and static hunting. HW80K is a shorter alternative and makes perfect sense for all situations. For underlever rifles, Wiehrauch HW77, HW97, -
Spring air rifle shooting.
pianoman replied to pianoman's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Hi Chris Nope! Both are equally as accurate. That said, I have a full-length FAC tuned HW80 with a venomtech long slimline silencer on it and it's a phenominally accurate rifle. More accurate than other HW80s I've tried. It's not the power, the barrel was made by a craftsman who was in a bloody good mood I think. It is an HW80 that's one in a million. If all I was left to hunt with, was my HW77 sub-12 ft/lb .22 and HW80 FAC .22. I would still be a highly delighted man Simon -
New Air Rifle Perhaps?
pianoman replied to TGEvans's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Aww Andy Yes yes YES!! Cheers you genius of smithing you! We should put pictures up of my full length HW80...with it's Venomtech long slimline silencer. Looks like a Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong piece of rifle! But what an accurate bloody beauty she really is! 11 years old and still as good as the day she was made! Bit unfair though, asking me to compare two beautiful Weihrauchs back to back; you know I love your HW90! Can't wait! Bring them on then Andy and we'll a good day out together next week! Cheers mate. Simon -
All the above advice is spot on Tom. Really, for accuracy, you need to consider what the rifle's butt-stock gives you for head-height, as your cheek rests comfortably into aiming position. The old ideal of "Closer the reticle to the bore-centre, the better" is a sound one so long as you are getting a comfy eye line of sight and eye relief on the occular or eye-bell lens with a low mounted scope. You are not having to push and squash you head down lower to get a true sightpicture. Always mount the scope at the height that suits you perfectly, without having to move your head about into

You are definately sorted out for shooting now Jimmy! Keep us informed how you get along with this particularly beautiful rifle eh! Simon

New Air Rifle Perhaps?
pianoman replied to TGEvans's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I slightly differ with my esteemed dear friend Andy here. HW80 is THE best break-barrel spring rifle in the world. HW80K carbine is a really lovely shooting and handling rifle if you don't like the full length version (I have both in .22) HW95 makes a brilliant second to the HW80. It's a little lighter and more compact and has all the punch and accuracy of the HW80. An HW95 in a Custom Stock CS700 walnut sporting stock and a Sandwell Field Sports tune would make an incredible De Lux spring rifle for hide and barn shooting. That one's certainly on the "Dream-guns-to-get" list -
Awww you guys :icon_redface: Thank you gentlemen. Simon.

YOU FAILED TO MAINTAIN YOUR WEAPON SON! Hahahah Daryl! I just spewed coffee all over me laptop looking at that! There's another of some bloody half brained tallybanny firing a cheap shit AK47 that blows up with a cartridge ignition in the magazine! He don't half get his hand twatted!

Er...No! Ragheads will do Mike. Short and to the point. Wog, of course is even shorter, but, we cannot say that now, can we!
-
Even now, I won't go out anywhere without a shine on my shoes. I hate laziness and sloth. I walk like a fecking racehorse and I f*****g detest young guys who play war simulated games, when they could be joined up and out in Afghanistan shooting ragheads. f**k IEDs I would absolute love a tour of Helmand with my old SLR and L115. I would f*****g just break every friggin long distance kill record standing. If I was an unemployed young fella now, I know what I'd be doing!

New job and new 25 metre indoor range to run for the TA
pianoman replied to zini's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Looks good Si. I think you'll be very happy here. I had a bit of a re-union recently with my old RAF Regt. Squadron pals and the guys now serving 60 RAF Regiment as Officers. They report a lot of new lads coming in are showing signs of actual fear of firearms. (Christ knows why they join up as gunners?!) Anyway, something like this you're running is going to prove valuable indeed. Seems there are not many youngsters joining to serve, have any real shooting experienc beyond pissing about with computer games and crap like that. Good show mate. Please keep us informed of how you get along. -
Actually... I was at Duxford airshow a couple of weeks ago. And I did see a long haired twat wearing an RAF No 1 Best Blue jacket with jeans and a T-shirt... And I gave him a look of death!

Nothing beats a well-sorted HW77 like mine in the hunting/target shooting field Fry old lad! That rifle is a German masterpiece. But the Pro Sport has all the accuracy you need for hunting wrapped in a beautiful design of its own. Spring rifle shooting to me is a bit like classic cars to some others. It's an old, established design concept, it's beautifully simple and it's been improved and polished up into some stunning examples. The HW77 is one example and the Pro Sport is another. Both worth owning and enjoying All the best mate. Simon

I would have a Pro Sport any time, any day. Air Arms never made it for us left handed riflemen until recently, that's why I have owned both the left handed TX200 .22 rifle and a .177 HC carbine for the last ten years or so. They are beautiful, superbly accurate and incredibly consistent rifles that hit what you aim them at. I wouldn't have my collection without them. But the Pro Sport has it in the looks department by a marathon mile. It is a stunningly beautiful rifle and it's as accurate as it's possble to get. Definately one on my list when I've got the cash to spare. Simon
