  1. Aww bloody hell Darryl mate I'm sorry to see what's happened here. Particularly so for your wife and family, who suddenly had armed police officers tromping about her home and her man treated like a bloody criminal. For those who do not know you. Darryl here is one of life's true, natural Gentlemen. He may not have a plummy accent and a silver spoon up his arse but, he is as straight as a dye in any deal he does and his willing kindness towards helping others who need a bit of help make him a true gentleman in my book, superior to those bluesuited fiddling b*****ds who are currently r
  2. To be honest your best bet might be to hang on till you are straight with your accounts again and put your £150 or whatever into a pot for a proper rifle. There's a chap here selling a .177 cal. TX200HC carbine for, I think, £250 rifle only OR £300 with a scope. As an owner of one of these in .177 I can assure you this is a brilliant air rifle that can hold its own against a PCP and this one for sale looks a mint condition bargain. All the best with your search. Simon
  3. Hi Andy. The HW80 you have has an HW90 .22 barrel on it. Remember? So effectively you have the same spec barrel on all three guns, in three different calibres. HW spring rifle barrels are choked. I assure you. Now both of you, play fair and nicely together. Or I'll come over and outshoot the bloody pair of you and your dads' PCP with THE LONGEST, UNCHOPPED, CHOKED, AND CHRIST ALMIGHTY HW80 .22 you will ever see and you'd wish was yours. And Andy. You do know your stuff....99% of the time! And that's good enough for me mate! End of. Simon the Pianoman.
  4. Hello bribri. Hmmm No such thing as something for nothing, or something good and cheap in shooting. 50 to 150-quid is not very much with any hope of buying anything up to much. So, assuming you are an experienced and capable marksman, fit to hunt live animals, your best bet would be to look on the second hand/for sale sections on the web and look for a quality spring rifle that won't need a repair job. That'll get you started shooting well for not so much outlay. £300+ will get you a very nice 2nd user Weihrauch HW77, HW95, HW97K or Weihrauch HW80 spring rifle. Or Air Arms TX20
  5. Then clearly Craig it worked for you and that's good . All I'm trying to say is this is not a guarenteed, nailed-on, surefire mod to ensure successful improvement in accuracy. It didn't work out for me with my previous HW80 barrel and that's why I will never have one chopped again. Regards mate. Simon
  6. What have you been doing to yourself now laddie?!! Get well and back out again soon Archie. Good to see you and your fascinating avatars here again..just not quite in the state you are currently in. Speedy recovery mate Simon
  7. My compliments Elliott this is just what air rifle hunting should be. I've often had a wry smile to myself about doing that with a prized rifle Skot. But, it doesn't do to be too precious (says me who bloody polishes and oils everything to perfection after every trip out). And as Elliott says, a good wipe down with a gun-oily rag soon puts a shine back on her surfaces. This is great shooting with your HW77K Elliott. Doesn't it look fine in the HW97 stock! It's fantastic to see what another fellow can get out of this most accurate and beautiful-performing spring underlever of all.
  8. I'm living in Pontefract. West Yorkshire, Lewis. I shoot over a lot of farmland at Wentbridge and Kirk Smeaton just a few miles from my home. My lady lives in Wiltshire so, I travel down as often as I can there. (Must get over to see Davy and Wurz and go shoot with them next time). Incidentally I learned to fly and got my PPL from a club at Teeside Airport. (Now Durham Tees Valley I believe.) I did a lot of flying over Yarm, Barnard Castle, and Sedgefield was often my approach location descent vector from northern border flights. Is that more or less, your area? Elliott you'd be most
  9. I would be in shooting heaven to own a couple of Prosports in .22 and .177. But, I'm lefthanded and deemed gifted.... And thus, discriminated against So for serious accurate shooting, I make do with a Weihrauch HW77 .22... Beats em all! :toast: :toast: Regards Simon
  10. Now then young Daz your're just being flash with such a fine coll ...Hang on a minute here! How do you get along with your R/Hand Prosport? Or are you an ambidexterous kinda guy???!!!
  11. As with everyone else above. I guess you should feel happily assured HW97k! Simon
  12. Hi John. If you really don't need to do it, don't chop it. You know, I'm thinking that maybe, some guys chop their HW80 barrels and swear the gun's brilliant for it because, they are not skilled enough marksmen to notice their rifle has now begun deviating it's shotfall from true zero. Whereas, to some of us who can produce genuine one hole groups at considerable range, the effect of any accuracy lost in our rifles is very accutely felt! I sincerely don't want to sound smug or bigheaded about my standards of shooting but, Weihrauch spring rifles are something I know a bit of something
  13. Well that's something else new to me in this sport that I've now learned from here. Bullpup-design PCP Thanks for the pic Graham. Simon
  14. No responses? Respectfully. Bin it and get yourself a really top springer like a Weihrauch or Air Arms. You sound like a decent fellow who knows a thing or two and anything from this cheap rubbish is like as not, beneath you. Regards. Simon
  15. Is there an example of a Bull-pup PCP I could have a look at? Never seen one before. Simon
  16. Welcome to the section Mike. But a bit confused and curious by your intentions??? Bullpup rifles have their magazines and breeches operating directly behind the pistol grip, within the dimensions of the butt-stock. The British Forces SA80 rifle is the best known example of this type of action. But, that's a military assault/battle rifle. How do you intend to go about converting a PCP air rifle to similar workings? Best of luck in your search/project anyway mate. Regards. Simon
  17. You are a kind pair Mike and Mary. £70 quid for this....no, that is just bloody immoral. The welding alone would make any attempt at restoration futile. Makes you wonder why it was welded this way in the first place. Barrel mis-aligned due to releasing it back under spring tension? Whatever, your gift will put this unfortunate episode to an end. Regards and best wishes to you both. Simon
  18. Wow, sounds very impressive Simon. Would love to see that. What ft/lb is it kicking out? I take it its .22? Hi Elliott. It's an HW80 .22 and produces 20ft/lbs. on my licence. And that is all the absolute power a spring air rifle really needs. She has given me some fantastic shooting experiences and I will never part with her. At normal air rifle ranges she hits very fast and hard. I've missed rabbits that have been very alert, who have moved lightning fast at the instant a shot from a sub-12ft/lb rifle is fired and they are out of the way before the pellet reaches them. Not with this
  19. To be perfectly honest I've heard a lot of complaints and dissatisfied feedback over the years regarding Gunpower as a company and their stealth rifle. Enough to ensure I would never go near them or, it with a bargepole. S410 Classic will make a great hunting rifle Micheal but, only if you find a very nice, clean and well looked-after example within your budget and you are really happy all round with it. You are under no pressure to have anything by lunchtime today so, relax and have a careful think before you part with your money. Regards. Simon
  20. Craig this MFR of yours is a delight to the eye...mainly cos it looks like it's almost swallowed the bloody thing!
  21. Nice one Wasted! Try that Simmons White Tail Classic 6.5-20x50 you have on it and you'll be a very satisfied man indeed! The HW77 will match anyone's shooting. Especially with a quality scope like that on board. Regards. Simon
  22. Micheal... NUMBER ONE. If you are strapped for cash, there is no such thing as a cheap Rapid 7 or Gunpower Stealth on a budget. All you will end up with is a buggered-up basket case that won't last 5 minutes and will cost you dearly to fix right...if at all. NUMBER TWO. Since when was this landowner a connoisseur of your preferred shooting equipment?? THREE. You've got the permission. That is good. Now set yourself a full day's shooting with whatever you have to begin with. If you can produce decent 1p groups at 30 yards with it, a decent bag should easily fall to you with it
  23. If anything Stuart, a good tuning kit should enhance your rifle's inherent accuracy and cocking/lock time with a smoother firing cycle. I admire Diana, especially their underlever and sidelever rifles for their care and build-quality of their designs and finish of their looks. I'd really like to try out a 54 Airking. Post up the results when you get it back and set up . Nothing wrong with PCPs but. they just don't excite me. They really are no more accurate than a top quality spring rifle and frankly, a fair few of them look a bit bloody ugly by comparison. The Theoben Rapid 7
  24. I'm well John thanks mate. The weather in the North has been absolute shit for shooting so not been out as much as I'd like. Still, what bit I've had has been rewarding. Andy has secured a decent new permission I'm itching to get a shoot over in decent weather. Is he doing the work on the ' for you? He's a bloody wizz with springers is our Andy. He recently tuned my HW80 and smoothed and sweetened my HW77 superbly. Love em! I'd really enjoy a meet up and a beer or few with you and Davy and Chaz next time I'm down at Helen's without having my time organised! Best regards mate. Sim
