One of those chaps might be me Phil? I expect a chap these days would go for a PCP on ticket nowadays. But I am a lifelong dedicated spring rifle shooter and that means I shoot a beautiful HW80 .22 I've owned on ticket since buying the rifle new in 1998. It was professionally tuned by a now defunct RFD and runs at 18ft/lbs. It also had the breech transfer port reamed out by a thousandth fraction of a whisker. This delivers the power to the pellet with no piston bounce and gives a beautiful smooth firing cycle. She doesn't bark or over-recoil which ruins many an high powered springer.

Bit sad to see some of the good chaps from the old crack here are being hampered with age problems getting in the way of shooting. But great to see yiu here again Tim with Mitch, Jimmy and Phil, I will never let my Pro Sport go. Jimmy and Phil know all too well how long I yearned for years for a left hand version until Jimmy came to my rescue, out of sheer kindness with a PS beech stock he'd beautifully modified and shaped for me. I still have it Jimmy and treasure it. Now I'm back out shooting I am going to look for a decent second hand .177 Pro Sport to permanently wed it to. I t

I've been out of the airgun scene a long time and the last I remember of MTC was they were an independent company importing scopes under their own branding. I'm somewhat surprised and not a bit disappointed to see MTC are a part of Daystate. British airgun manufacturing companies seem to have the sort of contempt for their customers as British Leyland had the British car buyer in the 1970s. I hope a direct email enquiry to MTC proves fruitful. I find Tony Belas enterprises are not so quick at responding to complaints and enquiries as they are at taking your money and forgetting abou

I've seen some wonderful wildlife moments like badgers and deer with their little fawns at dawn and dusk shoots. But never once saw a large cat like a panther. That's not to say they don't exist in the wild in the country. So who can say what they have seen? Haven't heard if any lambs or sheep have ever been killed for food by one. They might have been an obvious food source for a large predator at large.

PIANOMAN'S NEW EYESIGHT. BETTER THAN EVER BEFORE.
pianoman replied to pianoman's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Thank you so much Jon. That's very kind of you to say that. It's been a frightening experience to find you can't shoot agai for poor eyesight. I cannot say it strong enough. Look after your health and your eyesight. It is so precious. Weather's a bit poor this Easter here but, I'll be back out with my rifles again soon. Take care Jon and thank you again mate. Simon. -
Wow that's now looking amazing Jimmy. A bit surprised to see you using Tru Oil when you warned me off using it in favour of Tung Oil. Personally I love the deep lustrous shine of Tru Oil. Seems to really bring out the deep beautiful patterning in the wood. See how well it's brought out the grains in your walnut Pro Sport stock. .177 Air Arms barrels are absolutely fantastic for accuracy. I was loving that session with Phil's TX200HC I had at our meeting at my cottage. If yours is anything like it, you have an absolutely fabulous hunting/sporting rifle here. Please don't sell i

Hello Mitch old chum. It's been a while since I was last here. See they haven't thrown you off this forum for your unvarnished and honest airgun reviews then! I think a lot of us have had more than our share of woes and upheavals and things do change for lots of us. Mark here is going through his health worries, I've had failing eyesight and couldn't see a bloody thing properly to keep shooting. It's the same with lots of us older chaps who aren't getting younger. Maybe some of the lads of yesterday have sold their guns and taken up something else? And there are one or

Hi there. Best to contact MTC themselves for further specs regarding this scope?

Thank you so much Phil. Very kind of you. It's been a frightening time really with my eyesight but, I am so thankful to be able to shoot again as well as work. Cheers mate. Simon.

PIANOMAN'S NEW EYESIGHT. BETTER THAN EVER BEFORE.
pianoman replied to pianoman's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Hi J Hi Jimmy old mate. We have a lot to catch up on. I'm getting an impression you have been through tough times these last 6 years. But it's a positive sign you are still here and posting up your latest Pro Sport purchase and the other guns you fancy the look of. It's been a hell.of a frightening time with my eyesight starting to fail and Helen's health not been great. Message me your news when you can Jimmy. Helen sends her love to you both as do I. Simon. X -
Still got mine and the stock you adapted for my Jimmy. I have very special memories of you, Phil and Little Hunter that day you spent with us here. But honestly, l don't know why you keep buying Pro Sports and then selling them on and buying again. Especially after the real beautiful ones you've had before??? I really recommend the TinBum tuning kit for the Pro Sport mate. Absolutely fabulous kit in my Pro Sport .22. Simon.

Have to agree with your point about tactical looking air rifles and the unwelcome attention they can attract. We are under enough scrutiny from certain authorities that just love to suck the jam out of the doughnut.
-
Hi Jimmy old friend. For this sort of money you must have something that equals your marksmanship standards at the very least. Are these really up to the mark? Hope so. Best regards mate. Simon
-
Dear Mark. Very sorry to read of what's been happening to you. Sincerely wishing you every best wish for a speedy recovery and a return to your shooting enjoyment. Best regards. Simon/Pianoman.

PIANOMAN'S NEW EYESIGHT. BETTER THAN EVER BEFORE.

By the way. Sorry for typos. That's due to pudgy fingers on my phone keypad! Lol!! -
Dear lads. Gentlemen all. I've been out of the shooting Arena for a long time. Over 6 years now. The reason was failing eyesight due to onsetting cataracts and general degradation of my eyesight due to age. I'm 66 now. This meant I could no longer focus my scopes to shoot to a high standard of accuracy. As I am a professional artist and illustrator this has been a very worrying time for my career and my shooting has had to take a long backseat. Imagine trying to shoot a 30 yard group with totally unfocused scopes and the target blurred and you have an idea what it's been like. Howev

Definitely kapur! Reticle has shifted off its gimble. But a new one. This has had it.

Looks nice and tactical Jimmy. How's it going mate?! Love to you and Nicola. Simon and Helen.

Comparison hw100 verses the huntsman revere
pianoman replied to walker smith's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I cannot speak for the Huntsman Revere but,,,,After spending a chunk of cash on my Daystate Huntsman Regal .177 with a company called Airtech who made a superb regulator and tightened up the workings and cropped the barrel to perfection that PCP is a beautiful gun that should've been the case in the first place. I wrote to Tony Belas as head of Daystate as to my results from what work I had done on my Huntsman Regal and what I thought of the crap Harper Valve system that held the performance of the thing up poorly. Never got an answer back. Hmmm... But it's funny how -
Cheers Jjm. She's still shooting just brilliantly well. As accurate as any .22 PCP l have ever shot with. And no dive tank required! I haven't been tempted by another rifle to come even close to this one of mine. Best regards. Simon.

I can vouch Villaman here had the sort of experience that would put anybody off Daystate for life. Including myself. I still have my Daystate Huntsman Regal .177 but that's because I had to get an AirTech regulator made for it before it performed as it should have from the factory. The guy at Airtech made a masterpiece of a job on my rifle but it cost money to do. God knows what the prices for such work would be now??! But, if you have bought a Daystate that is working out superbly for you, well done and congratulations on finding a great rifle. But Mitch and me were not so ha

Hi Jimmy old pal. How have you been?? You never change mate. You buy a stunningly beautiful looking air rifle. It's the cat's whiskers on performance. Next thing..... you sell it! Then regret it. You never change! But then again, I sold my HW97K .22 plus a brilliant Hawke Endurance scope to Mark. And I really regret doing it. But hopefully Mark is still getting the spirt that rifle deserves. It's been ages since I had my beloved HW77 .22 out. My Pro Sport is getting the pest control on my permissions. But I miss my days and nights out with my HW77. Still one

Thank you so much Tom. I spent ages fruitlessly writing to Air Arms asking why this flagship air rifle was not available to us lefties. I finally got a reply to the effect there was no commercial value in making it thus! Considering that, so I believe, the head of Air Arms was a left-hander and 1 in 3 are left handed I found that to be unsatisfactory. There followed a very brief run of left hand stock/right hand action rifles. But I say again. Only a brief period of production rifles. I didn't manage to snap one up before they were sold out. That should have told Air Arms something

This is my Pro Sport as I reshaped it for my left hand shooting. It has been a faithful hunting companion for some years now and has the lost filigree and acanthus leaf scrolls redrawn and carved by me. There is nothing like owning and shooting with an astounding quality rifle that compliments your shooting as much as this gun does. I know Air Arms have finally released a new left hand production Pro Sport but , it's come somewhat too late. I'm more than happy with what I now have here.

Lead Ban Disaster - time to get busy.
pianoman replied to JakeFury's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Some years ago when zinc tin pellets started to emerge and the talk was of a possible Happy alternative to lead ammo, there was a number of lads who were starting using them. My mate Andy Ruane here swore by the ones he was using. Fine. Then came the accuracy issues the other lads reported. The last finding was, that tin ammo doesn't conform to an air rifle with a choked muzzle. That means possible damage to the muzzle rifling which will scupper your rifle accuracy full stop. If this talk of banning lead pellets for zinc etc, gathers into reality I'm not going hunting anymore. Not wit
