  1. i shit my pants first time on a fen lol. But I couldn't help myself, kid in a sweet shop...
  2. Just finished my first season on the daytime job. My pup turned 12 month in September so started him off on some easy catches on the stubbles, he went from strength to strength with each day out. Showed me some real potential. Ran him on the best land thanks to some kind invites out on permission. Seen some great runs and met some top blokes... Alteady looking forward to next season!!
  3. I looked at a few, I liked the XBolt and tikka the best. Found a tikka t3 lite in stainless on guntrader, can't fault it.
  4. She is a beauty, I've always liked the look of her...
  5. Good catch, see him kick down and throw himself at it
  6. I know the feeling davey!......Entirely different animals aren't they..........But I don't think I will stray to far from this type now...I need a new name on here lol Shame about the Fife dog Andy...What happened?
  7. Loading for the .223 walshie? Was thinking about it the other day after I re zeroed my tikka and new leupold. Used them 53grn superformace rounds and was getting inch and a half groups at 100m, which to be honest is perfectly acceptable for what I do, but would be nice to see some cloverleaf groups.....Thinking homeloads would be the way forward..... How much was the kit?
  8. Great scopes walshie, but looking through my mates 8x56, we both thought a little more mag would be best for what we do...Plus most of them have 30mm tube and I already have some decent 25mm leupold mounts, so a slight saving there too! The variable mag s&bs are rarer and more money than I wanted to spend... Im zeroing mine with this leupold vx111 asap with them 53grn superformance rounds...
  9. Better? Better at the job you need it for you mean... I shoot a .223 and love it and my mate shoots a .220 swift and he loves it.... Neither one is better than the other for the job we do... But I prefer the .223 because its quieter, has less recoil, the ammo is readily available and it is slightly cheaper to feed... He prefers his swift as it is slightly faster and flatter shooting and has slightly longer range before the bullet starts dropping rapidly... Its horses for courses, but the vast majority of foxes are shot under a lamp, which is why the .223 is the perfect tool for me, as
  10. Just bought 2 boxes of them 53grn in .223, will be zeroing my new scope asap with them... Will post up the results
  11. Exactly my thoughts... Too fine and get a bit lost when lamping at distance, and the 7x mag just wasn't enough for what I need...Would be a great scope for daytime or lamping sub 150 yards...
  12. Well, I got the leupold today, its a vx111 not a vx3...... a little confused, but i think its the older model.... I still had the meopta and so had a look through both, and to be honest, I couldn't tell much difference in the daylight at close range, maybe one might edge it in low light conditions or at distance....Anyhow, I needed more mag than the meopta had so the leupy is here to stay with its 10x mag and lifetime warranty, I saved £100 too... If the used leupold hadn't come to my attention, I would have had a new meopta meopro 6-18x50...
  13. This one I have bought has the duplex reticle, so hopefully its similar to my mates s&b.... Just been on Leupold website, there is a date code in the serial number of every Leupold made after 1972.....Says mine was made in 2007....
  14. I did a little comparison last night while lamping. I use a Hawke Sport 3-9x50IR and my mate uses an 8x56 s&b, I bought a meopta artemis 2000 7x50 yesterday which I was planning to use in place of the old Hawke.... Now, IMO there was not much difference between the meopta and the s&b, both bright and crystal clear but the ultra fine reticle in the meopta got lost at distance, and 7x mag wouldn't be enough for me to confidently shoot past 200 yards...The s&b at just 1x more mag was noticeably better and the duplex reticle was perfect, it also has a slightly bigger sight picture.
  15. Anyone on here done any of these courses? Or know anything about them? Cheers
  16. Thanks folks, I think he is 18 month old now NEcourser... Fingers crossed JD! Hopefully he runs passed that lens of yours next season!!! Yes Roy he has filled out a tad, strong dog, makes my arm ache lol
  17. Had a great day out on Saturday, Had an invite out flushing hares to a gun. I took Chief along, left my house at 3am and got back home at 9pm. Met some top blokes and was on some great land, leaned a hell of a lot too. I thought if Chief flushes one hare to the gun this time of year and I get a good pic I will be over the moon! And I still am, ill be on a high all week lol... He flushed this one which was shot with a lovely 20 bore Beretta Good to see Chiefs dam Belle, what a class looking animal. Also saw a bitch called reddy flush a good strong hare, really liked her too...
  18. Old vitara 1.6 petrol, mud tyres. Awesome little motor. Cheap, cheap to run, reliable and very good off road if you do your bit...
  19. Good info there sporting shooter, I was unaware of that. I thought the 50ft rule applied everywhere......Is there a link to share? home-office guidelines as such?
  20. Me and my shooting buddy have shot loads this season on clear frosty nights...Even if you startle one, 9 time out of 10 it will run, stop, and look back...
  21. Get a low mileage 3.0 litre auto, gen 3.... Stay away from the 2.4s
  22. I didn't have you down as a fellow chav Hutchey! But it does say you live in Tenterden. LOL
  23. .204, girls gun. .223, chav calibre .222 gods choice Im learning...
  24. Some good points there I agree with, but the pup will relate the bowl to food, and you putting food in the bowl...I think of it more like a tool... I don't like the idea of hand feeding young pups at meal time because while you think your giving the dog food, the dog might be thinking its ok to take food from you...
