  1. Looks a handy type Roy! Good luck with him!
  2. You will have some fun with him davey!! Fingers crossed he picks a few up for you mate. No better feeling than seeing your pride and joy do what he was born to do, especially if he does it well!! Good luck
  3. No sorry. I bought a new one recently to go on my .223 but wasn't enough mag for what I needed... I remember thinking it would be a perfect scope for anything out to 150 yards IMO.. Equal quality to my mates s&b...
  4. If the vets prices was reasonable there would be no need for insurance. And because there IS insurance available, vets rape you with their prices.... They both work in each other's favours. Scammers..
  5. He's a beauty!! Should be able to run too! Best of luck
  6. Are there calibres that are more accurate than others? Are there any calibres which are known for being less accurate? Any reloading wizards out there ever struggle to find a good load for a particular rifle/calibre?
  7. I did the same Cedric but found the pipe insulating to collapse after a few outings?... I cut a neoprene mod cover into strips and used them to build the height up... Wrapped it up neatly in black tape and covered it with a bullet holder thing...
  8. Personal preference would see my .22lr with a quality fixed 6x42, a second hand leupold would fit the bill but you might struggle to get one with a mil dot ret which i think are ideal for the lr, one thing is for sure, if you buy a new hawke for about £100 it will be worth £50-£60 a week later, but buy a second hand leupold or similar and you will get your money back, even years later... objective size is not everything when it comes to a nice bright picture!
  9. Me and my mate have hawke scopes on our .22lr's and his one shifted zero by 4 inches the other night.. Wasn't knocked, just shifted by itself, the scope is still fairly new and not seen much action... It has put us both off the low end hawkes, although mine still works as it should... They are also a bit big and bulky for a little rabbit gun, although I have a soft spot for the meopta 7x50, I think the most practical scope for a .22lr would be a 6x42 with mil dot reticle... Each to their own but I think 6x mag is perfect for 20- yards.. Any more and you struggle to see the close ones a
  10. Do hornet cases taper from one end to the other? I'm sure the bloke who ran the reloading class I went to yesterday said something about having to full length re-size for and calibre case which tapers?...
  11. Sorry if I have missed it somewhere Ian, but will you stick with the .17hmr or go back to the .22 hornet and reload again....? Or something else?
  12. I'm not a "birdy" but found this today at work.....Could be a parrots nest for all I know...
  13. Pics to follow using the same rounds with the mag wound down... When this wind pisses off!!
  14. Went to a "reloading class" today. Felt reassured that what I have been doing so far is correct and safe... Things that stick in my mind are that apparently the lee beam scales I use are not the best, although the rest of the lee gear is very good.. Showed him a pic of my group (last pic I put up), he said it looks ok, was told to disregard the flyer and that the other one that wasn't touching could be my shooting. He said stick with my load for now and try shooting the group with my magnification turned down.. Then start playing with the distance from the ogive to the lands, ( can't r
  15. Really surprised me how much difference the temperature of the barrel made... Learning folks!
  16. Shot 3 groups of 4 rounds today using the 12 I loaded at 27.8 with the full crimp... At 100m... First group was ok... but a tad low and left.. So 2 clicks up and 2 clicks right shoud get me bang on....Then this happened... It really threw me off for a minute, It could of only been that my reloads are shite, or I was not letting the barrel cool enough?...So started again and waited 10 mins between shots...Which proved to work... I'm sure with more tweeking I could do better but shooting 1 inch groups is good enough for me, half inch better than the vmax's I u
  17. all I am saying is it's a good job someone used pures at some point or none of these dogs today would be what they are without saluki blood in them and I think it needs to be reintroduced now and again as some fresh blood and it is going back to the base of what made all of these dogs good to start with Maybe if you feel you "need to reintroduce saluki blood", say by putting a pure over a coursing bred bitch, then maybe the bitch isn't worth being bred from in the first place? Like I say I'm not the most experienced on the subject to say the least... But like Jamie said the hard work has been
  18. If you had a top class coursing bred bitch... What would be the benefit of putting a pure saluki over her? Surely you would play it safe by using another very well bred dog which was doing the job..? Probably me not knowing f a about anything, and admittedly never seen a pure run..but I always thought that someone might use a pure if their bitch lacked wind... Or was just an average bitch and hoping to get lucky?
  19. Thanks folks, I've loaded a hand full at 27.8 and put the full crimp on them....Results to follow...
  20. get a second opinion from another vet...
  21. "I hope my next wedding is as good as this one"
  22. Me and my shooting buddy have shot 117 since September. Averaging 5 each night and have never blanked. We shoot chicken farms, sheep farms and arable crop...There is no end to them! Farmers wife phoned us two weeks ago, she found a half eaten lamb in the middle of her field but it was one from next door. We pulled up in the field that night and within a minute our fox came through a hedge and made a bee line straight to the lamb, he didn't make it. Also saw a fox laying down 10 yards away from a group of sheep and some young lambs the week before but it was not on permission... A bit o
