  1. A gun cabinet will last a lifetime and if your thinking of FAC in the future, do yourself a favour and by a big one now, then you won't have to mess about again buying another one and fitting it... Also I couldn't think of a worse place to have a cabinet... Red hot in the summer freezing cold in the winter. Damp problems, and crap access. Last thing I want to be doing 4am after a long nights shooting is clambering up a ladder through a loft hatch with potentially a few quids worth of gun...
  2. Mine doesn't get cleaned often... Every 50/60 or so rounds of it's lucky, on my last batch that I was trying out the groups started to open up with a warm barrel, but this new load stays tight!
  3. CC, I'm interested in what makes folk say the .222 is more accurate? Not all .222s will be more accurate than all other .22 centrefires? If I bought a .222 and a .223 in the same outfit, is the .222 guaranteed to be more accurate with say 50grn Vmaxs? What makes a calibre more accurate than another? Surely it is down to each individual rifle, setup and load? Genuine questions...I'm here to learn!
  4. Alsone I think they are both great calibres and you are right it is personal preference, having shot a .223 and a .220 swift all winter long I can say that IMO it makes no difference as to where you hit a fox, you either hit it right or not, they are the same bullet and a couple hundred fps faster doesnt make a difference if you hit it slightly wrong..Its going to run.. 99% of the 128 foxes we shot this winter was sub 250m (lamping) and I can point and shoot to that distance with my .223, it's nice and quiet, more efficient, see them go down easier and more than enough stopping power...An
  5. I might have a go at the cheapo way in the morning... Is it a case of just measuring the drop or rise at two distances and let a calculator do the rest? Without adjusting my setup these loads are shooting about 2 inches high at 100y so I'm guessing there are zeroed somewhere near 200... Hopefully find out in the morning... What sort of groups are you getting with 29.0s?
  6. I think I could be the extractor claw when I pull the bolt, but don't know why this is the first time I have seen it. Rounds felt ok to chamber...maybe the case is sticking and needs a clean... The 29.0s shot great aswell, but not quite as good as the 28.5s and I thought it wouldn't hurt to back off the max load slightly... Have you put yours through a chrono Tremo?
  7. So after shooting some steel at 240m the other day it became apparent that my reloads are much slower and drop about 8 inches+ at that distance, whereas the 40grn vmaxs I had left was shooting spot on.... So I thought I would load another ladder of different weight powders using some 40grn nosler bt's....Using a new set of digital scales! Starting load of 27.5 then 28.0 28.5 and 29.0 Made sure the conditions was almost perfect, used a smaller target, measured out my 100y and got some much better groups and they was shooting much higher, indicating that they wasn't hanging about like m
  8. I own a .223 and have shot it side by side to a .22-250 and a .220swift..... My Opinion of the 3 is that the 22-250 and the swift are considerably louder and kick a little harder than the .223, and they use a lot more powder for the minimal gains in performance that they offer. I think people read to much into ballistics charts and believe because one calibre shoots marginally flatter to 250m, its better... But ballistics charts don't give you the feel of recoil, the decibel reading or the cost of more powder.... One thing I can say for a sure is you wont shoot any more foxes, or any
  9. I paid double that for my pup out of Romeo by the time you add fuel in, and his performance from his first season alone was more than worth it... Your pups REW. Do with them what YOU wish... No ones making anyone buy anything... Good luck with them....
  10. Nice one REW. If there is a pup that doesn't winge, keep that one LOL... Good luck with them
  11. He's turned into a cracking looking dog.
  12. And the falling dream, followed by the bounce where you nearly hit the fecking ceiling lol
  13. The running dream where you need to get away fast or catch someone but your legs will only go at walking pace. Or the punching someone and it's like your arms won't move fast enough... I used to ride a lot of sports bikes and was quite fast on the a roads, but was never any good at wheelieing, I've had the dream where I can wheelie like a champ a few times lol....
  14. Sorry mate I read that wrong, thought you said you want to produce pups with wind to burn.... You though about Romeo? He puts some into his pups
  15. I doubt you will produce pups with wind to burn from a bitch that lacks a bit herself. I think a coursing bred dog would put more into the pups than a pure..not just stamina... Good luck with what you choose bud, keep us posted
  16. Have you thought about Ryan's Oscar mate? He's a decent all round dog with a good lump of saluki in him.
  17. My coursing bred mutt really opened my eyes. So much to offer. I didn't really know what I was buying at the time to be honest. But I can't believe more lads don't use them for all round work. Blistering speed, incredible stamina, lightning like strike, mental prey drive and surprising responsive, very intelligent too. Physically sound and can handle a days graft. Mine is a good guard dog too lol... I think the mythical true alrounder for me would be a top class coursing animal crossed with either a bull or cur lurcher out of a line of sound genuine grafters...
  18. My wife's mate comes round to do her hair and when she tells a story everyone in the story keeps turning around..
  19. It's personal preference, t3 lite in stainless for me!
  20. Tomburras your post made me laugh! "Single ass clap"
  21. I can't help but loose respect for people when they tell me they believe in ghosts or God... I almost feel as though they are trying to insult my intelligence... if something unexplainable happens to me It might freak me out for a bit, but I will shrug it off as something that had an explanation, although I might not ever know it... I think some people want to belive in it to much so as soon as they see a shadow "it's a ghost". I think the brain goes a bit funny after a trauma or a loss of someone close.. Other times drink or drugs is involved... Then there's good old fash
  22. I know the feeling! It's all worth it!
