  1. Given the large numbers in the handling classes, judging the handling, is there a need for the judge for the judge to be taking time to run their hands over the dogs? Would it help speed things along if the dogs took a lap or two and were walked into centre indivually, stood up and went back in line
  2. It may be worth while when drawing the names for heats, writting out the heats on something that can be pinned up, ticking heats off as you go so people can see there races coming up and be ready for their heat. On Sat Dessie's stopping the racing at 1.30 to run the showing on time, then finishing what racings left after. Its not an option that everyone will be happy with, but its worth trailing.
  3. This show will now also have qualifers for the 2013 Five Nations Lurcher & Terrier Championships both taking place at Birr.
  4. This show will now also have qualifiers for the 2013 Five Nations Lurcher & Terrier Championships both taking place at Birr.
  5. The dogs aren't allowed inside the pub, unfortunately. They open the side bar for the dog show, keep a good fire lit in it so you can go in and out for a bit of heat. The pub has the usual range of hot food, the stew usually proves popular after the show. Unlike previous years it doesn't give snow for this show so there might be a bit more room round the fire.
  6. Yes, you just show up on the day to enter, its showing only, there's no racing. Its always a good day with plenty of prizes
  7. There will be a meeting of the NI Lurcher Racing Club after this show. All questions/ suggestions for the club will be welcome.
  8. Dessie has asked me to let you all know he will be holding his annual Christmas show on Saturday 22nd December, at Hall's Mill Inn, Lawerencetown, Co Down at 11am. All the usual confirmation classes for terriers, whippets and lurchers. There is no racing. Prizes include a turkey for best terrier, whippet and lurcher, and lots of bottles of wine for grabs. Great day for spreading Christmas cheer and catching up with friends
  9. I was delighted for Poppy getting a 2nd in the child handling on Sunday, she wasn't too fussed and would rather have had the crisps! It's a very generous substitute, Albert, thanks
  10. Good luck to all the competitors! Paul is very grateful for your support, Albert, and fingers crossed for the right outcomes all round that weekend
  11. You always sum up the day so well, Margaret Poppy was delighted coming from the child handling ring as she got a pink rosette. I didn't take my own dog with me so thanks Darren for letting her barrow Paco. I was so pleased at how well the Kristian's dogs done, was nice to see a good turn out of bull terriers.
  12. There will be two free to enter classes at this show, terrier dog and terrier bitch classes, for members of the IWTF. The proceeds of this years raffle, prizes to be announced later, will also go to the IWTF.
  13. Terrier, Lurcher, Whippet and Strongdog Show Lawerencetown, Co Down Names taken for racing from 11am Racing classes: Whippets Under 21“ Under 23“ Over 23“ All race dogs must be muzzled Showing starting at 1.30, details of classes to follow Will also get postcode up soon Hot food stands in attendance, trade stands welcome Hope to see you all there
  15. Its becoming a bit of a Shane's tradition for people to leave things with you Margaret, though thank goodness it was a dog this year and not a grandchild..again!
  16. No truth in it, Dessie got 1st and 2nd in Russel dog class, my dog got 3rd. They were all dogs. There was a wee girl walked into the ring with a bitch and was asked to wait to the bitch class. I'm guessing that's what he's referring to, which has nothing to do with the standard of judging.
  17. Do you mean the child who entered her bitch into the dog class and was asked to wait to the bitch class. Surely that's not a reflection on the judge
  18. Well done, Keiron and team! Running a show can be a thankless task, your hard work and generosity ensure it isn't the case for you guys!
