  1. Always makes me laugh when you tell the client they can come up the u bend and you can visibly see them clench.
  2. Great Post Fish. Not often you get to see the two live together for id purposes. Classic features of nose shape and distinct, or otherwise, ears. Cheers.
  3. Thanks for the feedback guys, and yes it may be a strange question to ask, but i am currently outside of the rural scene and i hear varying info as these three replys show. As previously stated we work within the domestic, urban and commercial sectors and very succesfully, taking work from and having success where other more established firms have failed. Rural work was one of the initial reasons for starting the buisness, but we found these other areas coming to us first. All advice is welcomed, good advice is used. Thanks again
  4. All boots wet, jackets wet, dog wet and we all smell.

  5. I am a one man band pestcontrol company based in West Sussex, mostly working in the commercial and domestic areas and wondered what rates we are or aren't charging for various services in rural locations. We carry out rodent control, rabbit control, all the usual suspects and moles. I was thinking around £10 per hour with discounts for permissions. What do we think? I can already hear "HOW MUCH!" Cheers
  6. Well guys, I bagged my first mink, much of the info and technique was gleaned from here so a big thanks to you all! The client is well chuffed. He was caught using a double ended mink/squirrel live trap and boy was he swearing when i checked it this morning. Dispatched with an air rifle on site. The bait was prawns and cat food. One and a half weeks wait. The fenn mrk 6s and covers were not successful so we have removed them, but kept the live traps in place as another mink has been seen. We have recently had very swollen rivers and streams, has this increased chances of a catch? Thank
  7. We have a young cross who's training needs a little assistance. What do we think of training collars? the good the bad and has anybody got one for sale. Not sure on the shock collars, but the spray and or bleep collars i would be happy to use, unless you know otherwise.
  8. Cheers guys, I guessed it would be the mk 6 and during my research i got details of a mink raft as endorsed by the Game and Wildlife conservation trust. So i will invest in a pair of fenn mk6's and bone up on my tracks identification and diy skills. Thanks again.
  9. Ok, i have been asked to trap a mink for a friend and i have read the posts on mink. I have fenn mrk 4's with boxes to cover them and live squirrel traps will these be big enough or will we have to invest in mrk 6 fenns. I want to help the guy out if i can as this may lead to other work. Any input will be greatly recieved. Cheers
  10. The old saying you get what you pay for is very true, cheap Chinease made traps are made of poor quality steel and the springs are a joke. Compare them with a good quality, british made piece of kit and there is no comparison. In the long term they will last a lot longer and give you good service. I have just ordered a fox trap from Bethel Rhodes anybody got experience of one? It looked the best option and best balance between quality and price. You know it makes sense, "Buy British" i feel a campaign coming on!
  11. As you have said the duffus traps are best for a straight run, but should you find that bend or a t junction the traplines are good for placing at each entrance, plus they are very small compared to barrels. Must remember to push the front end into the bottom of the run when you place them otherwise the smart b*&£ers will back fill them. I use a few, but my main trap is still the duffus.
  12. Hello everybody Brand new and shiney to the forum and the posts i have checked out are really informative. Sign of a good forum. I started my own Pest control company a couple of years ago after a couple of redundancies in construction and an interest in Field sports. So far 95% of my work is urban and domestic based and i want to get back into the reason i started down this route, my love and interest of the outdoors, conservation and Field sports. I shoot mostly in an urban enviroment, legal air rifle, for work and have recently aquired what i believe to be a bull cross lurcher 11months
