  1. Go on clean up your barrels they will serve you well if looked after. Dont be put off by back filled traps it just means you are in the right place, but be more careful with covering, cleaning the hole and not leaving open to topside smells and debris getting down there.
  2. Keep up the trapping, but change the type of trap to avoid trap shyness. i.e. plastic for wooden and vice versa. Put peanut butter or chocolate spread on the traps. Try to stop up the route in wire wool is a good blocker of holes. On the subject of poisoning, many pro baits contain a mummifing agent in them that avoids the smell of dead rodents. Last resort the tin cat and definatly forget the plug ins!
  3. The latest i saw was they tested the dead birds for poisoning and no trace was found, latest theory is a freak form of lighting or fireworks on new years eve. Somebody smell cover up? Isn't that why they used Canaries down the mines?
  4. Cannot believe the dog is still alive. In its home, in its garden, on the lead, that is a dangerous dog and a potential killer. It should be pts no doubt! I am not anti staff at all, i know plenty of well loved and well controlled staffs out there, but too many macho knobs have these dogs for status and haven't got a clue. TIME FOR DOG LICENSE.
  5. Got to share this with you. Suns breifly out in Worthing, out with the dog on our local downs walk. Every body is out kids, family etc and a big commotion just outside the car park. A Lab has flushed out and caught a pheasant from the nearby bushes, running around with it, refusing to give it up and proceeding to tuck into his prize. Parents scowling and general disapproval at the embarresed owner who can do nothing but wait til he has finished. It was then it dawned on me how we all differ when i just about stopped myself from offering my encouragement "just need to work on the retreive
  6. Single malt, nothing less than 12 year old. Quality over quantity nowadays . . . . . i lie!

  16. Having had my van done two weeks ago i would have liked the opportunity to deal with it myself. Shame if he did loose his ticket, once again the wrong people paying for criminal acts.
  17. Definately soft baits like the peanut butter or chocolate spread option are best as the crafty b*%gers can flick solid baits off or deliberatly set the trap off to get the bait. Changing the types of traps, plastic and wood etc, is good also as they get trap shy if they witness a family member getting caught or having a close shave.
  18. Bradshaw and Bennett have covered us with very competitive rates and good quality of cover, its all in the detail. Not tried AXA though my renewal is due in january i will check it out!

  20. Basics guys! A dog isn't a rifle, load it, point it, fire it! The joy of working a good dog is watching it progress and everything falling into place. Trust and mutual respect are earnt and if you haven't got these then you haven't a hope. The trail should have been over a set period to really guage a result and let it settle. Talk of culling dogs on here where anybody can read it is foolish! For the record, culling the dog for that, is like taking a gun back because you can't shoot straight.
  21. is wondering why don't these f*%king lights work and who put them away like this . . . oh yeah!

  22. Sounds like a lockable drop box is what you need, not so obvious close to the road etc and resists tampering. Best of luck
