  1. Yes, thats looking the way forward. Originally 22lr was our first option, but mostly out of ignorance of what a Shotgun(s) could also do for us. We need a bigger cabnet!
  2. Wants to outlaw DIY!

  3. Yes, it reads that way but not meant to read that way but hey that's the problem with off the cuff posts. {just edited the post}. John John nobody else jumped in and the info you gave was a great help and a starting point that has encouraged us along a route we felt good for us. Thanks for that and dont be discouraged from doing so in the future by knockers that seem only to pick holes! Positive points and critisism is welcome, down right rudeness in the face of helpfulness can go elsewhere!
  4. what are you using to dispatch the fox in your live traps just now ? At present we take the trapped fox to a local guy for dispatch and disposal, but the issue is reducing the stress to the fox whenever possible and dispatch on site.
  5. One last query! Are all these different sizes of shot, in there respective guage, available with a SGC?
  6. Thats great! Thanks for taking the time to give such complete replies. The points covered have shined a light onto alot of the areas i was not sure of! So it seems flexability is a Shotguns strength, but i still see the point of correct tool for the job. Thanks again Maybe a pinned post would be in order and John's post gets my vote.
  7. Could anybody shed light on the different types of cartrigdes out there i.e.shot sizes and different specific uses for cartridges. The reason for this is we are deciding whether to get a shotgun for our pest control buisness. We have briefly looked at the .410 option, possibly moderated. Its uses could be humane dispatch of a Fox in a live trap and general pest control on the rural jobs. Or are we barking up the wrong tree altogether? All input greatly appreciated!
  8. Blame the council,British waterways, the coalition anybody but themselves bud. well done to you for letting the kids know, plenty of times you just get "F%*k off"
  9. Well done bud! Somebody with good news at last!
  10. From what i can see they work on the ancient design, where the twine pulls him up onto the roof of the tunnel, is that right?. Its interesting and substitute the poly pipe for clay one and its a classic going back to Saxon times. Trap collector will know more. Only problem they may not be approved for use, so could be dodgy ground.
  11. Gutted! bought one NEW before X Mas. £60:00 is a bargin guys, if it doesn't go give me a PM and i may still be interested. I can hear it now " What do you want with two of em!"
  12. Peanut butter is good, but what is it feeding on to naturaly bring it there and give it time to get used to the new object i.e. trap or move every thing around so its all a new envviroment.

  14. I was told they were escapees from a private collection around the Chertsey area in the 60s. I can vouch for the early morning screaching, breeding like pigeons and the pushing out of our native birds. Never eaten one, but can see why fishing flies would be changing colour!
  15. Fifteen, over park and flat on my back on "White Lightning" Youth of today don't know their born! Merrydown these days!
  16. I have just jumped on board and it looked pretty good. The results on Google searches are quite impressive too.
  17. Hello Lugsy, Problem is somebody near you will be very protective of their area and clients as they are hard to get and even harder to keep. My only advice from a Southern softie is to enrole in some courses, read everything and on a part time basis throw yourself into it we all have had our first mole, rat, mouse etc. job, its just making the leap. As i say do it part time at first as you will muck up now and again, but learn from it. I've said it before and i don't work for them, but the individual courses from killgerm are pretty good and its little bits at a time. Best of luck mate, th
  18. If the dog is good with visitors indoors i.e. rolling on back, waggy tale, great with the kids etc then play the distracted and very apologetic owner and show the old bill its sound, if its yappy, nippy and generally angry keep it out the way and be apologetic etc. Hopefully its all hot air from the owners and if you paid the vet bill etc then commonsense should prevail. Best of luck!
  19. I have a hw35 i have recently cleaned up and i want to furnish it with a set of open sights to finish it off. She shoots well and keeps my feet on the ground when it comes to changing back from my pre charged. So anybody know where i can get a set? Thanks

  22. Mine was a lucky one, we were clearing a warehouse of feral pigeon and they were dropping out from a hole in the cieling, external access blocked up and making a mess on the stock below. We set up a feeding station and they soon got used to using it, but crack off a shot and back up the hole the others went. I saw two heads peeping out for the all clear and waited for them both to drop out and start to feed. Crosshairs following one on the dip, squeezed off the shot and bagged the two with one pellet. The cleaner was still working in the offices and confirmed she only heard on shot, but tw
  23. On a golf course, away from water, sounds like a gassing job. We all had our first job once! Search the posts on here they are fairly sound. Best place to look is the pestcontrol section though.
  24. "Help me, help me! Get off the f*&king floor, stop laughing and help me . . . please!" Lets have a Chav section on Hunting Life . . . .please!
  25. I have a client in the sticks who has a problem with squirrels in the loft. They back onto woodland and the little grey fellas have been running riot all over the show. The loft isn't the problem as i have cleared plenty of them , but when i walked out into the garden and woods there wasn't a single one to be seen ( 11 o'clock bright sunshine) yet the client is addiment there are masses. When are they at their most active i.e. dawn, dusk. I was planning to set up some traps (covered fenn 4) and a feeding point to pick them off with the airgun.
