Hello mate, Fix the traps down and place slate or ply under them to stop the traps being moved and tunneled under, then give them time to get accustomed to the trap, revenge will be yours!

My nieghbour is having their sweet chestnut tree trimmed and some sizable branches/ logs are comming off. Already saved a great Y section for a catapult! (43yrs old and still got my priorities right!) Good fire wood? Good for anything else? What makes good fire wood?

There is a book " build your own traps" that has details, i had a look and can't find mine, but that has details of ladder traps. I think fourteen acre has it or try the good old libuary. I have made loads of stuff from it. Must find it again!

I don't do so many moles that i have to record where i have put them or i have a good memory, but an industrious mole catcher told me he places all his traps whithin 4 meters of the field perimeter and markes them with binder twine, so he only has to remember which field and trundle round them. The theory was most mole runs are towards the edge and hedge / fence lines, it worked for him!

Its public attitude, and politicians today are sh*t scared of rocking the boat for the majority of their voters. I see it every day. . . ah look at the cute, furry squirrel holding its nuts in its hands . . . . . until it gets into their loft and partys, then its "get the bast*rd thing out, i don't care how you do it!" Meat hasn't come from a living animal its come from tesco, the public have lost touch with realities in life and politicians have to toe the line. Lets face it who in politics today is going to say "We got the hunting bill wrong, lets do a u turn!".

Rodanator can only be used for collapsing tunnels in the UK, not for killing moles and for ages now has been tottering on being banned altogether. Check out some of the vids on you tube and as theres always some nervous laughter going on as you cannot be sure which part of the tunnel is going to blow.

Place the traps, bait them as above them leave them, as our soft southern rats have a fear of new objects in their patch. One way to over come this is to move everything around in the area you place the traps, that way its all new. As for dispatch an air rifle or good air pistol will be most hummane.

Just checked the pinned post at the top of this section and the Herring Gull has been removed from English and Scottish general liecence and the black backed gull is in. Seems daft as its Herring gulls down here that are the niusense, but there you go! You can apply for a special liecence, but lots of hoops to jump through.

Sometimes the young have pied look especially in flight, also i have been told a deficient diet will cause white patches. Is she feeding them white bread? Cos theres nowt good in that.

I would leave it a couple of days and return being doubly careful of how you are setting up. No light, no grass or surface material it's wised up to to you. If you can locate the fortress, its nest, then that will have its main runs. Looks like you'll have to work for this one!
