  1. As above works perfect , just had a new collar and comes with a few spare batteries. Open to offers on this one Cheers folks
  2. THe THL phd genetics student are u(not having a go -but none of us have a crystal ball)-might breed right good dogs if put to a dog that is an outstanding finder-wouldnt do it myself though. only way summert like that would be worth breeding to an outstanding finder is if it was outstandingly wrecklessly hard then maybe just maybe it would be worth a punt but note i said maybe Absolute bollox!
  3. As said a dog that can be dug week in week out and not take too much punishment, Also like dogs with a good nose that gives a good strong mark that doesnt mess around in earths with nothing at home.
  4. Basically as Paulus said, it's always a good idea to clean any cuts up as soon as possible after a dig, I carry diluted hibiscrub, clean water some metacam and some gauze, then I will clean the dog up basically straight after a dig and give it some metacam then keep the wounds clean until healed and they always heal up nicely with no problems!
  5. If you need to add bull into the mix to breed better pups then you shouldn't be breeding them at all, Do you really want a dog that you can only dig a handful of times a season? Plenty of good dogs about that aren't bully! Give me a clever dog with a bit of brain over a gormless numb bull x that just sits and takes punishment, the clever dog may not look as cool or tough but I know for sure that it will be getting far more work!
  6. Only problem with having a beard is when you go to buy 12 bottles of bleach and you have used your I.R.A voice etc already and the time has come to use your womans voice you need to cover it!
  7. thrush -- i just picked it up ... i think bradley walsh makes it what it is ... He does, this one made me laugh!
  8. I know its been said but i thought its him from the hangover straight away!
  9. Nice to see some decent lads in the game! Border your a Gent, that's how it should be lads come together and help each other out!
  10. Exactly what I was trying to say pal! If its bred right and has the heart it should all just come naturally, We can't make them into workers, we can just get them into the best condition and ready for their possible job in life..
  11. very good reply whippet99. the only thing different that we would do is to use a garden fork instead of the spade the young dog can see the quarry and work it without getting too much stick. this is also great for teaching young hounds to mark. I personally don't like stop ending, if anything I would only let the dog see slightly behind the shovel and not get any stick, Just letting it know its their and smell up close, ragging a dead fox is good just to get them interested. The thing I don't like with stop ending is that it can easily ruin a dog, Every dog becomes a hero when you b
  12. I'm not too fussy just as long as the fox is out one way or the other and the jobs done, but if I'm totally honest I do enjoy a good dig. One thing I don't want is a dog that will come off if the fox won't bolt. I'm guessing by just a bolter you mean a dog that won't stay? As said I do like a dig but I can't control what's going to happen because half the time if you don't walk over the earth like Elmer thud, the fox will want to bolt before the dog has even had a chance to say hello! I do see the plus side to a dog that will just bay and maybe stay a short while, they are very handy in cer

I wouldn't go for the razor wire mate, as much as I would like to see the scumbags get a bit back you would certainly get some stick for it. It seems that people stick up for criminals more than the good guys, as the good guy always come off worst!
  14. Read some really good topics on here in the past, as well as some very comical ones I tend to get a few laughs reading topics on the lurcher forum, so much testosterone flying around there.. I love it when the die hard bull x brigade turn up on a topic. I hope to read many more great topics and less of the daft ones , but that will be hard with the amount of keyboard warriors joining.
  15. I don't really like to call a terrier a worker until it has done earthwork but that is because that's all I really do with my dogs, earthwork is their jobs so that's what they get. I however get bored of seeing endless Working terrier for stud ads that just turn out to be working rabbits, and the constant litters of pups bred for ratting / rabbiting I'm sure just about any pup from a litter of pet dogs would work rats, It usually takes a special breeding to produce good earth dogs but its getting harder as so many litters are being fobbed off as workers from untested dogs that once saw a
  16. Mines the Russel dog in my avatar, hes 6 yrs old and has never put a foot wrong great finder and stays til the jobs done, And has a very good nose the sort of dog you know where you stand with if somethings home he will let you know, Infact had a decent do with him at the weekend in a massive stack of bails ended up bolting two from it, Had to climb a bit to get him into the bit where he wanted to be which was fun as it was very icy and slippy!
  17. Im sure one that suits will turn up sooner or later pal
  18. If you could count 16 - 25 Is 9 you knob. If I was 15 -25........ Give alimac a had is 10 Wh the fek has a pea brain naw And you were a shoot manager Want to lern to count first cunty bolacks. Ha ha You should learn to spell fella!
  19. you make it sound so simple, And it really isn't all that simple, It's good to get out and learn the ropes from some decent lads who know how to do it the right way and in the process you can learn what to look for in a dog and the type you want. And it's not just digging a hole, If the lad hasn't had a bit of guidance he might not know how long to give a dog before starting digging or even locating the dog can be a task, Atleast if he gets out with some lads and learns the ropes he will learn how to sink a decent hole and not trench or ruin an earth.
  20. I find it funny with the whole real tree look being turned into casual wear, I was at a fur and feather auction the other week and the amount of folk who turned up in full real tree camo was crazy! I would prefer to have the right gear for the job in hand even of its more expensive, I don't go and buy my strong stuff gear, bellman and 4x4 etc to look the part as I don't care what other folk think, as long as the gear I use is up to. The job and I'm getting plenty of digging I'm happy.
  21. Well done lad! Sounds like you dont have a clue, its because of lads like you who come out with stupid comments like that, why the game is looked upon in such a bad way.Someone stick a muzzle on this lad!
