  1. Nice mate you got a good deal my vets charge £70!!!! .. I went to get mine done yesterday got there and the f*ck*ng vet had called in sick so ive rebooked for next week.
  2. Ive got the same problem on the moors were i live mate really dense gorse with rabbit runs in but you cant get to the holes....ive not thougt of a way round it myself yet, i geuss the rabbits in it are lucky feckers. .. Burning it or getting a mate with a tractor to cut it down are the only two options but if it aint your land then there's no way around it.. if its like whats down my way you'd be there strimming all day.... which aint no good ATB Ben
  3. Nice mate..There a hell of a lot of rabbits out minions way
  4. Lucky there chap mind you ive always foiund hobs bigger off less than jills when lost/escaped.....
  5. well done again mate you seem to be doing a lot of cracking ferreting and must have some bloody good experianced ferrets as your always out good on ya mate Ben
  6. Nice cage mate youve done a good tidy job there also im liking the crazy spider-ferret in the first picture looks like they have a right good time
  7. i lost my oldest jill 'fleet' on sunday.. i'd been going back every day to check for her but nothing, on monday i found a very big hole where we had been ferreting that either a fox or sniffer dog from the land oowner had dug which had retrieved the rabbit that the ferret was layed up with but the ferret was no where to be seen .. so three days had passed and i continued to been check every day. and now im sitting here having I just got in from looking for her. went out with the lamp a took a food bowl to shake, searced for about hour and a half all over the fields and moors around.. it
  8. Yes Ferrets love egg when i occaasionally feed it them i crack it and put it in their feed bowl ...and personally i would also say that heaving 1 rabbit a the hutch with two ferrets would be fine to last for 2-3 days on its own.
  9. yeah you use them with long nets to stop rabbit re entering the hedge further down bacially you have them coming strainght out from the hedge untill it meet the longnet which goes around the burie if this makes sense mate
  10. Hi im thinking of getting my 1st lurcher maybe a pure collie x pure whippet. would it be any good for lamping and ferreting????? or would something with less collie be better?
  11. 'Chances are it would bolt rabbits, They wont know wheather it's friendly and only wants to play with them!!' 'Do you prefer rabbits not to bolt then?' theres a big difference between a ferret that works a whole bury and shows knows what its generally doing from instinct flushing the rabbits out from that of a ferret that just lumbers into the bury half paced and happens too bolt a rabbit because of her smell or because a rabbit anticipates the ferret may attack it. basicallly what im saying is that sometimes The ferret may not actually have too stand up to a rabbit and properly bolt i
  12. Best split them off mate , about a week or so ago i split mine off as the young Hob decided to go into season early and make the jills life hell
  13. ive been tempted by these before but after advice i decided that it would either be too cold for the ferrets on frosty days and in the Sun it would be too hot so i went for a wooden one.
  14. I use the double box from d n d timbers wont get anything as light, comfy or as well made in my opinion but it comes at a bit of a price http://ddtimberproducts.com/page6.htm atb Ben
  15. Totally agree with The one All ferrets will get the general idea of working but there's a big difference between a good sharp working ferret that covers the whole set and a ferret that just is a bit more steady aint as sharp and doesn't work the whole set and overall aint a grafter. Ideally buy a ferret of a mate who you've been out with a a bit and seen the parents work so you know they're good working parents this will give you the best chance of getting a ferret with potential.
  16. ah sorry mate I didn't read the picture 'caption'
  17. Well done matey you seem to be getting consistantly good bags but i only counted 31 rabbits
  18. Sounds like what they were doing is completely out of order , if they didnt have a warrent then they shouldnt have been on your property and defiantly shouldnt have taken the ferrets on their first check, maybe they've checked up before without your consent if thats the case then tell them to stay the F*ck of your land and get in touch with the police to force them give to Give the ferrets back as they took them illegally .... or they have just conviscated them until they see an improvement, allthough it seems very rare for the to do a random spot check they may have had 'tip of
  19. unexperienced ferrets, being too noisy while netting up ands wind could all be reasons why the rabbits aint bolting.. but its soundso me as though they might not have been rabbits in the holes you worked keep giving it a crack though
  20. Hell i never thought a ferret could take down a chicken must have been hungry like... soumnds like its been lost and will probably tame down after a while but will be feisty at first.
  21. for the fist day and a half she wasnt that bad i dont think you quite understand how rapidly it occurred in a matter of 3 hours i went from being confident she'll pull through to ok this will be my last goodbye -at 11.30 at night.. i only brought her inside as a precaution at first it even seemed like a bit of an overkill just for a ferret that was spending more time in bed that usual and that i hasnt actually seen swallow food for a day,-just to clear things up it wasnt as simple as you might just think, bascially she would carry loads of food to the corner of the court back and forth like a
  22. They usually are when you won't pay for a vet. Also it was by no means becuase i wont pay, god no, i value my ferrets just as much as anyone does... its really not worth arguing about but basically don't make inaccurate judgements about me and be so argumentative your no help to anyone on here
  23. They usually are when you won't pay for a vet. mate thats f**cking uncalled for i've just lost my most promising Kit i think ive learnt my lesson im gutted....I dont need tw*ts like you who relish an argument to make thngs worse do me a favour and keep it so you self
  24. [ I'm not a particularly confrontational person, but neglect lights a fire under my arse. His ferret took three days to die, and you think it's defensible that he wouldn't take it to the vet ? Yeah, go you ! Mate i did not neglect the ferret in any way you can f**k right off my post if your gonna be like that make my blood boil ,................................ one of the few things ive learnt from this post is that theres a hell of a lot of tw*ts on here and next time i simply wont bother.. thanks to the people who take consideration and gave adive etc ...... Ben
