Good stuff, enjoyed it? -
Am I right in thinking that Welsh Collie and Welsh Sheepdog are a totally different breed?
-
I’m sure my bitch pup has Welsh Working Collie in it ?

Welsh sheepdog sells for world record £27,100 - BBC News WWW.BBC.COM Twelve-month-old Kim smashes the record for the world's most expensive sheepdog. My mistake £27,000

Saw a TV program where a Border collie working bred pup went for £22,000 at Auction.

Good on Roast Tatties.

FFS I’ve just bought a load of Rosemary plants for the garden.
-
Anyone do this? Rosemary - if dogs get thorns or scrapes. Boil some rosemary in water, let it cool and soak the dog's paw in it. Wash the wound, leave it in the water for about 10 minutes. You'll see an almost immediate improvement. If the dog licks to dry his paw, rosemary is a painkiller, is good for digestion and also removes parasites. Also anyone have any natural health remedies that they use.

Cheers Phil , probably end up more of a nightmare but we'll give it a go.
-
I'll be doing that alright, be an early morning start.
-
I'm not expecting miracles I'll give it a go with her , nothing to lose really and might have a bit of a laugh at the very least.
-
Good shout, I'll give that a go and see how we get on. I think breaking the training down like that and taking my time is the way to go. Just want to try different things with this pup not just lamping and ferreting like I've done previously.
-
I'm trying to train the the pup to be steady using gundog techniques, its going ok in the garden LOL. Sit, stay , heel off lead, retrieve and stop whistle that sort of thing. She's just under a year old and I've not really done much with her apart from the obedience and stock breaking. I understand its so different when in the field with distractions etc . I'm in no rush with her and I'll see how she and myself progress because I've never ran a long net out at night either, plenty of times ferreting but never at night. I'll be using 2 x 50yards quickset in one basket from les Nelson. Probabl

I guess so be a good learning opportunity for her , its not like I'm depending on the rabbits to live.
-
TBF I thought as much, I'll definitely be having a go through the day I like the sound of that.

I've got a lurcher pup I'm bringing on and i don't really want to go down the lamping route with her like I have with previous dogs, I'm at the point now its quality of the catch more than the quantity if you get my drift. What I'm thinking is a bit of mooching/bushing and possibly some night time Long netting with her. Do you guys use a dog for long netting at night, is it useful or more a hindrance using a dog or is just fables from some of the old time writers and I'm a total romancer?

Thanks Mooch, she’ll get a fair crack and the signs are looking good. You are 100% right about him not continuously breeding his own dogs but he likes to be involved because he’s dog daft. Enjoy your season mate and if you bump into Jeff give him my regards? -

Tbh I’ve never had a Lurcher so agile and so responsive, early days yet though. I will see how she goes this season and if anyone is interested or even if they’re not I’ll post an honest account of how things pan out. -

Exactly my way of thinking. Get past the spin which tbh he doesn’t really need to do and give one go ? -

I’ve never met Jeff but spoke to him on the phone, so can’t comment how he chooses to live his life and wouldn’t anyway. Yes he is eccentric but thank god we are all different it would be a pretty boring world if we are all the same. I have a bitch from his ‘type’ not directly from him though but he likes to still be involved with what’s going on. I don’t buy into his sales pitch but I like the way his dogs look and are put together. She has a good temperament and is intelligent and quick learner. The only problem I have had with her is she is a bit nervy but she is getting there and improv
