  1. Well I went to see the pups tonight, have chose a lovely brindle bitch, as for the patents, the mother ( lab ) has 6 ftch in her family, she used to work until she was shot accidentally in the leg and has a slight limp but can't run too good now, the dad is not a full grey, has bull and whippet in him but the breeder just put down greyhound. The one I chose seemed very interested in the pelt, even when I hid it away, so hopefully she may make a good marker dog for with the ferrets.
  2. Thanks for the pms guys, am going to see the pups tonight, gonna take a rabbit pelt with me to see if any get enthusiastic over it. Will let you all know how I get on.
  3. Hi, just wondered if anyone's a full member on preloved, if so can you pm me the contact details for this ad. http://www.preloved.co.uk/fuseaction-adverts.showadvert/index-1034286856/a0d3c3e4.html Thanks, Scott
  4. Any fresh, raw, unprocessed meats are great. Stay away from pork, as it contains too much salt, try asking your local butcher who may be able sort you out with some offcuts of meat that they just chuck out.
  5. Love the first pic, looks to be saying, "keep away from my mate, or I'll have ya" lol.
  6. Just had some good luck, just been up in the loft, only to find 18' of waste soil tubing left from when the plumbing wad redone in the house, has even got a 90deg. bend on it. Gonna get the jeye's fluid out in the morning and give a good clean, then after the ferrets have been fed they can have a go down the tube. Will let you all know how they get on.
  7. Am gonna get two runs set up and connect them with some tubes, hopefully with them being young they'll see it as play. They ain't too bad at being picked up from the floor, as i have them roaming about the garden most times when I go to see them, one gets a bit jumpy when you start to lift him but hes getting better. Only had them both 5 days but they I think they are getting used to me as I constantly talk to them so they get used to my voice as well as my hands. Thanks for the info guys and not shooting me down for being a newbie, lol.
  8. Hi guys, I have got two 8 wk old hob kits, and was just wondering if anyone has any info on the best way to get them ready for working. Should I get some drainage tubes so they get used to going down holes, or will their natural predator instinct tell them what to do when they pick up a scent. Also what would be the best age to get them started, I know about 6 months for working but should I start them now with training?
  9. Thanks for the offer, but a bit too far for me.
  10. Generally I wouldn't go for inoculations for ferrets, unless you live in an area that has had an outbreak of distemper. A pet/rescue ferret forum that I go on has a list that gets updated regular with outbreak areas.
  11. Hi guys, just wondered if anyone in N.W. cumbria could help me out, I've got two kits and am going to work them when they older, (only 8 wks old) and am just wondering if any one would be able to supply me with a couple of rabbits a week for them, am willing to pay and travel frequently between Carlisle and Workington. Thanks, Scott.
  12. Hi guys, I'm gonna be getting my two ferrets on Wed. The two I've chose are brother and sister, both are not going to be used for breeding, so should I get the hob castrated later this year, then have the Jill sorted after her first season? I'll be having her taken out of season by a proven vasectomised hob or by the vets implant. Any info on timing etc would be great. ps, they are both 8 weeks on Wed when I collect them. Thanks, Scott.
  13. Is happy to be a new member

  14. Hi, have just joined, my name is scott and I live in gretna, have currently got 3 poley mitt ferrets, all hobs and only 10 weeks old. First we have Zhac, then we have Shadrac, and last but not least we have Cain, the little bugger, Am not working them yet, due to their age, but am very interested in it, but would need someone near me that would be willing to show me the ropes. Scott.
