  1. i have a lakie bitch with a smidge of pat,she is mental...but an outstanding worker!i would make sure that you introduce it to ferrets early and do your utmost to get on top and stay on top,if you give an inch they take a mile, very head strong dogs with prey drive to match, dont let it forget that you are the boss...all the best mate

  12. i can see exactly where you are coming from but i am just worried about the going to ground thing
  13. i have just had to give a friend of mine the best dog i have ever owned.the lakeland bitch in question was mustard on rabbits and exelled on rats, the problem was that she started going to ground.now that i am thinking about the coming ratting season i am without my best ratter.i have just read an interesting thread on whippet x terrier matings i quite fancy this may make a good ratter .your opinions will be gratefully recieved.if the feed back is good i may be looking to buy one if anyone has one for sale ,preferably working but would also consider a pup thankyou for your time
  14. i did not know it was as simple as that good job my lurcher aint quick enougth for old long ears lol Know its not mate why not read the link at the top ??? here it is anyway http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2004/37/contents thanks mate its hard to teach a dog the difference between rabbit and hare
  15. i did not know it was as simple as that good job my lurcher aint quick enougth for old long ears lol
  16. if out bushing for rabbits and a hare was flushed and caught by running dogs how would you stand in the eyes of the law
  17. How old is the dog mate? Do you mean direct daughter or line bred to sooty sam? she is 11 years old ,direct dauhter
  18. my dad has a daughter of sooty sam .i am not a follower of fashion dogs but this little bitch lost an eye at 12 months old did that stop her no!she works with ferrets, lamps, bushes both in and out of cover, kills rats in an instant and is as game a dog as i have seen.i am not saying that this is because of her breeding and i am not saying it is not.i personally keep lurchers but if whippets are your thing on what i have seen and it is only this one bitch so i am by no means any expert ,good honest little dog .i hope this helps ;if anyone wants to argue with me about this topic dont bother shes m
  19. why not use a whippet or small lurcher;they will mark and chase escapees more bunnies in the bag
  20. my cocker dog got across my lakeland bitch 2 years ago .the result is that i now have a cracking little bushing dog with guts and obediance and she wont go to ground.i have seen several simular litters advertised lately good luck mate
  21. you could also try some electrolytes in the water whilst you change the food.this will replace lost salts and stop dehydration
  22. if i am not mistaken ithink that topper was talking about me in his reply my accident mating was coccker dog to lakie bitch.i reluctantly kept a pup and it turned out to be a decent little busher very obedient, she will also rat although not great but i have used her for beating and rough shooting for which i think she was made for when i suss out how to do so i will put some pics of on
  23. i think and this is only my opinion(you have to say that on here before you reply or your dead)if the dog took rats from the start it would be hard mouthed on rabbits,if vice versa i think that dogs soon learns the difference between quarry with teeth and those without, yes there is always an exception to the rule, yes i know rabbits got teeth but you know what i mean lol,had many a fox dog over the years that always retrieved rabbits live to hand that were obviously started on them first thanks for your opinion all advice is recied gratefully
