  1. She is fed once a day, 1 tin of pedigree chum in gravy with tesco premium complete dog biscuit, do you think her diet may be linked to her fits???? If so what would u recommend feeding her???? firstly its probably inhereted epilepsy given the breed and age of the dog, Inhereted Epilepsy usually shows up between 5mths and 3 years these fits are sometimes reffered to as Oliver siezures not alot that can be done about it, im afraid. Controling the diet and exercise and finding out if there are any triggers to the fits will help you find a way of living with it but she will probably end up
  2. yeah it tends to go on what size the dog is going to be as to how long. the bigger they are the longer it takes them to grow so larger dogs will need to stay on it longer and the opposite for small.
  3. its just bacteria in the skin from rough cover some young dogs get it from grass. just keep it clean bathe in warm salt water they should pop then dry up. atb mrs A.R.D
  4. you just have to wait its quiet a common thing in GSD's the thing with the epilepsy drugs they are toxic so if your dog only fits now and again no vet will give you med's for her. what kind of fits does she have? grand mal or peti mal? The diet can play a big part in controling epilepsy.
  5. we got ours from medicAnimal @ £1.38 per tablet Drontal plus.

  8. Im a fan of the EBT although i dont own one. i personaly like the old Hinks type, its more athletic than the kc type and bred for ability rather than strange looks lol. i searched the net for info on Hinks type and found some good pics and they look alot differant to the kc even thought they are fundamentaly the same thing. atb mrs A.R.D
  9. the terriers we breed wouldnt be suitable for pet homes. i agree with carraghsGem on this. atb mrs A.R.D

  13. we have a lurcher out parents that havnt done alot just to prove that upbringing has alot to do with it. She does everything we want a lurcher to do and she totally outshines her parents and litter mates. Even the people we got her from would agree she's like that because of her up bringing, we've had her since 6 weeks old. atb
  14. Ive done that pin down thing before works quite well i find, if you hold the neck with a firm grip, and wait for them to exhail a big breath then you know he has calmed right down, then i release i seem to find the older the dog is the longer it takes to stop bad behaviour and create the behaviour you want, and if you terrier is 9 (think i read that lol) then it would take a long time, my 8 year old went through a training crash course last year as did the dalmation, the dalmation (only 2 at the time) picked it up fairly quick, the other not as quick but after a few months was perfect and
  15. my lurcher is allergic to raw meat and bones it gives her really bad runs to the point where she passes blood and not just a little bit. she has to eat dry food and i have her on C.S.J lamb and rice wgf. where as the terriers will eat anything lol,.
  16. iv tryed all that with my terrier and it doesnt work, he's too head strong! but with the others who are generaly well behaved if they start trying it on i pin them to assert dominance and thats all i have to do for them to get the picture. i just make eye contact with the lurchers for them to behave. i give my boy plenty of exercise, he gets worse if he's tired lol like i said before i think he's just a nob lol love him to bits tho.
  17. iv got a nasty terrier, he's a bully with people and if he thinks your scared it makes him worse, he's 9 years old and iv never found the cure for him and belive me iv tryed everything. Although he's never acctually biten anybody but thats only because i know what he's like and im on top of him all the time. iv come to the conclusion he's just a nob but he's good at his job, needless to say this dog wont be getting rehomed when he retires. looks can be decieving!
  18. congratulations! atb mrs A.R.D
  19. Iv found its not bad as a maintainance diet when mixed with meat and used in the summer. But i wouldnt feed it to young dogs or in the season. iv found not all dogs are suited to this but our terriers do fine on it. atb
