Yes I saw you win Waterloo cup with it No buddy i never kept coursing ghounds all trackers...WANKER.

Thats more bullshit mosby, any otter i have seen dead from road kill are in the 4ft range from head to tip of tail. Now goin back to your mates dogs you said the otter buzzed through THEM like a chainsaw leaving several dead. How many dogs were on the game and it must have had a ak47 not a chainsaw to leave several dogs dead.I have only dug the 1 and bolted 1 but the 1 i dug the terrier in question worked it as he would work fox or badger and it was a very big dog otter. They are better than fox but i would not count them in the same league as badger all pre ban of coarse.
-
Does it really matter what colour it is or what breed you associate it with as long as its bred to work. This thing off fell.patterdale.lakeland.beddy.border why not just call them all working bred terriers and safe all the arguements.
-
Mosby you say an otter buzzed through your mate's dogs killing several of them, how many were to ground with it and what were they.I personally think thats pure bullshit as an otter is not as hard as badger,or as tough skinned and if this did happen which i doubt very much then your mates dogs must be shite earth dogs. When you look back at some terriers that were used for diging otter, what you have said is pure nonsence.Ok their tough and as fast as fox to hit underground, but any decent terrier should be well fit to hold one at bay.JMO.

The old dog i had here was practacially blind and would latch onto anything that came within reach.

I would love to know if he still has stuff with that old black.n.tan dog blood in them,Has he ever mentioned him to you,he was another top dog,big but could get to his game no bother.I put him across the BLUE.N.TAN bitch i had but she never held which was a pity as she was a good bitch.Im sure RK could arrange a field for the show,he has enough of them haha.
-
Yeah GE kept a good line of terrier as long as i know him.He dug up here on one of his first times over with a couple of lads from athboy. He also had a dog called one eyed bob, seen him dug to and he was one hell of a dog.
-
That dog was as blue as you could get keven, stripped out or not.The dog did not need striping out as it had a tight harsh coat.He also had more in kennels the same.Dont know what the sire or dam was but i bought the dog at almost 5 year old and lost him about 4 year ago this year.GM said he was selling all of his adult dogs that time as he had plenty young stuff of them that had just started.I think there is 1 of that same litter up dublin direction not sure.I also remember the lakeland stud dog gm used about 15 year ago when he lived up in meath. He was a big black.n.tan dog also very hard, and

We do one we call the horse'y earth as the field is always full of horses, and although we have permission we dont know the farmer's surname. Not too far away from you micheal,we do another we call the lamb earth as we dug out a dead lamb in it one time and it turned out the farmers surname is lamb, haha funny old world.

Mark i know the difference between blue and grey or black. When i say i had a blue dog and a blue and tan bitch they were blue and no beddy blood in them.
-
Could be but maybe there just blue lakelands as neil said the kc except them so who knows.I remember a bitch i had here and so would neil and she was blue.n.tan but far from kc reg.

Its funny liam the man that had him stuffed and mounted is dead and buried a good few year now and the pub has changed hands a good few times since but the otter remains on a shelf over looking the bar,i have often overheard people say what a lovely creature it is and how could antbody kill such a lovely animal, make you feel guilty if one had a consionce.I just smile to myself and remember auld spot the bullxrussell we dug him with.
-
When we dug that one years back we had a staffxwheaton that would face any animal. We lifted the terrier that day and let the strong dog have a look.He went straight too it and it hit him like a ton of bricks,it was the first time i had ever seen that dog hesitant on his game.He took it out and finished the job but they are one hard animal. They are as strong as the badger and as fast as the fox so quite a combination and opponent for any dog. This was all pre ban,and that same otter is mounted in a glass case in a pub in the midlands to this day and i still call in from time to time just to have
-
They were what i kept at the time.Nothing special to look at but good honest workers,i think a sounder was the better dog for otter as they were known to bolt easily enough.
-
Bullxrussell type i had back then,or lakey's they all done the job.
-
Lost a blue lakeland type dog to ground bout 3 year ago.Dont know the through breeding of the dog cause i bought it in as a worker, but do know it was very tightly bred as i know the man who keeps them.He is an english man living in eire a good few year now and his dogs are like peas in a pod all the same, very hard gear i might add but honest workers.

In all the years ive been diging both now and pre ban i have only ever come across two to ground. The first was beside a river which ran out of one of the best brown trout lakes in europe. We were beating out a small bank of furs or whins as some call them and the terrier went to ground in these. We found and dug to the dog close up with a very big dog otter which was a very hard challenge for any dog.The second i bolted with a little lakey bitch in an area where there is no waterways for at least 2mile so it seems they dont always stick to water. They were both pre ban and ive only seen a few sin

He only took them ducks for the QUACK neil.
-
Well said neil.
-
When do otter's have young, are they the same as fox..badger and so on.
-
While out walking terrier's earlier on along the bank of the local river i spotted a big dog otter, well i say dog as it looked big on the oppisite bank about 100yds down from me eating what looked like a spent salmon as the river is only a spawning river. It spotted me and was in the water and disappeared in a flash.Lovely looking animal great to see them. They were a good challenge for a terrier to ground pre ban.I seen a lot of them killed in eel nets down through the years, sad ending for such a nice animal.

The tattoo's are idenification markings.A race dog would be ear checked against his card before it runs to make sure its the right dog.
