  1. thought thats what I said or are you suggesting to place them directly in the tunnel entrance and then covering with peat, so its raised off the ground
  2. well, your using the same IP address, as are a few other forum names, I cant see any valid reason, why members should have multiple user names, and will post in the mod section, that we have a clean up and delete everyone using more than one name
  3. bury them in the entrance hole/warren
  4. I love how they keep mentioning that charlie the jack russel, has been "specially trained" to catch rats, our jacks must have gone to training school then, when we wer'nt looking
  5. Id say, bad Idea, most of us use straw/shredded paper, cheap and disposable, they still need cleaning out in winter, how long would you leave your sheep skin in the bedding area before disposing it
  6. got my cert before gun and cabinet too
  7. you'd be better off applying for a job with one of the large pest control companies, starting at the bottom as a tech, although the money would be poor, you'd recieve all the training for free, plus hands on experience with cockroahes/bed bugs/wasps etc etc, then a year or two down the line, you'd be able to calculate if theirs a market for your services
  8. shotguns can only be posted to a RFD, (regested firearms dealer) not to your home address
  9. keep WET bar of soap next to you, if you happen to cut to low and it bleeds, push the bleeding nail into the soap, stops the bleeding and seals the nail
  10. well, as promised, recieved a cheque today from the customer for £20 better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick total £110
  11. anything thats smelly and can be liquidized, herring works well, if you can pre bait, do so, are there any areas that have a normal light left on all night?, as baiting in these areas, the rats will already be used to the light, no lamp/filter is then needed in those areas make sure you have comfortable shooting areas to sit, bales of hay/straw etc, as if its cold/hard/crampted, you prone to fidget/move more, making niose
  12. all members have the warning meter, but only the member can see their own, if as stated you'vre been a naughty girl, and it hits 50%, you can be banned from the site.
  13. gun still here if you want it, any sensible offers welcome needs a price to stay here,
  14. it makes sense to use latex gloves, have had a few pictures put up on here with me and my blue latex gets a few laughs, but saves driving home smelling of shite/guts
  15. I had used a large cardboard box with small entrances to cover all three fenns, as the attic area was unboarded, and there was evidence the squirrel had been through other stored items up there, maybe I should have taken a picture of that in situ just to keep you happy
  16. well this has really cheered me up, just got in from work, and had an e mail waiting for me, from the above customer, telling me how grateful they both are with all my efforts over the last few days, they have given out my cards to all the other householders, then went on to ask for my postal address, as they did'nt have alot of cash in the house yesterday, so want to send me a thank you cheque...
  17. one problem with big companies (as matt the rat stated) is that theres lots of workers other than the tech's our company has, shall I say, a surveyor that wouldent know his arse from his elbow, he constantly either underprices on very big jobs, or under estimates the time limit, and has admitted to myself and other tech's, that its because of "his commission" which gets paid to him, when the job is accepted, rather than when its finished, all he see's is ££££££ signs, rather than the actual problem
  18. well, it was a member of the public, I reckon even the most fluffy bunny/squirrel hugger would turn into a reformed killer once they have had squirrels in their property, as I stated earlier, the homeowner was a very nice couple that wouldent hurt a fly, yet by the end was asking me to "blow it fecking brains out" with a shotgun, I had mentioned ferreting them out, but this lady was so paranoid about "things in the roof" she then started worrying that we wouldent get the fert out
  19. just keep them seperate put the young hob/s down with the experienced jills, still take your good hob, but keep him as a "reserve" that you can use on his own, if the other ferts dont seem to be flushing the warren I normally use 3 jills a mixture of young and old, and include a young hob, once they have been run through a warren a few times and there are no more rabbits coming out, they get boxed, and "ted" or one of the other big hobs, are then put through on their own, this normally gets me one or two extra rabbits that have been trying to sit tight
  20. if the other kitt was the same, but has been sold on, then obviously they are old enough to be split from the mum, so why not just remove him from her cage, would be the simplest solution
  21. Id go with a mk3 as for collars, start with one and build up to more as money becomes available, I started with two collars, as I just worked a team of two, now have four collars, now use 3 jills and a big hob
  22. JOB COMPLETED; had thought we had one remaining youngster in the loft, get a phone call this afternoon while doing a pidgeon proofing job, customer tells me there's two sticking their heads out the open soffit, I called around at 6pm and was told one had fallen out, and as it tried climbing back up the house wall, a neighbour had wacked it with a shover so the last remaining one was having none of me getting it, so I removed all the mk6's and kania from attic, and re set a mk6 on the open area of soffit, where they had peered out, then back into the attic, to try and chase it, i
