  1. true, when I started 4yrs ago, I left a 30k year job in construction, and started at the bottom on 16k, but within 2yrs had risen to 26k basic salary, (not inc overtime/bonuses)
  2. if he had wanted to ferret, would'ent he be asking that instead jazz take the advice of others here mate, as ferreting would probably cost more in the long run, a shotgun could probably be picked up cheaper than a ferret locator, before all the other equipment,

    WARN

if that were true, you wouldent be here
  4. it should be pointed out to you though, she needs to be in season also, hobs tend to come into season before jills, so he maybe ragging her too soon, have you checked to see if her vulva is swollen if not, then Id remove the hob until she does come into season, otherwise you could end up with a jill with a very sore/infected neck, or even dead and then use this time to read up all you can on "breeding" once she has been in season a week or two, then put the hob back in, I tend to leave them in a good week, even longer in some cases, couple years back the hobs stayed in with the jills
  5. you need to go to specsavers its a polecat marked ferret
  6. you need to list them, title and author
  7. click on your name, go into SETTINGS, then look for CHANGE AVITAR, go into that, you'll need to either upload a photo, or host it on a site like photobucket, then simply right click on the picture copy the URL, and paste it into the box marked, MY AVITAR, that should sort it out for you...
  8. at the end of the day, just go out and try, all the formations are just examples of what have worked for other people, they may, or may not work for you, maybe start off with a basic U shape, put the bouncers at the ends, as if they were pidgeons coming into land, you'll want the curve of the U around 25yds away from your hide, but again, these are just examples that have worked for me, once your out in the field and trying patterns out, you'll find one that in your eye's, brings the birds in, and you'll tend to stick to that, until you have a bad day, then try another, I started with 12 decoy

    CAN'T SEE

Ive gone with cleancut 2010, its got things back to normal, but as above, its blue  any ideas is we can make it green, as it just dont look right
  10. as the rabbit is classed as a pest species there is no "season" but you'll find you get two different answers, those who ferret for sport/pleasure will only ferret in the winter months those of us that ferret as pest control, will do it all year round if asked
  11. my FAO told me never to cross out a gun on my ticket, it gets removed when you get a new cert on renewal
  12. I read the title, and thought it would about something compleatly different
  13. Good for you mate. Too much thoughtless breeding IMHO. I think what Stubby's trying to say is that if the technology is there you should use it. As much for the ferret's sake as for yours. it was more a case of you saying that they didnt use locators years ago, so you dont, and me saying years ago they would'ent have a snipped hob, its not impossible to stop ferts breeding without one, where did I say you couldent use it for ferreting I have snipped and castrated that are used
  14. a contradiciting statement if you ask me, you say its ok to use ferts like they did 30yrs ago, yet admit to having a snipped hob, surely something they wouldent have done 30yrs ago, yes years ago the ferreted without locators, but ask WHY I would imagine because they did'nt have the money, it was more to put food on the table, than a pastime as it is now, back then money did'nt come easy, christ some people that live off the state get more money than me as a full time worker, so you cant even really use money as an excuse, at the end of the day though, its horses for courses, you have y
  15. you should already have the shotgun details etc, on your license from when you bought it, just copy all these details, again underneath yours, but with the buyers name, address, cert number
  16. I'll give you a run down on them mate, show you my set up etc, when you pop in on saturday
  17. most ferrets kept in a court system will have a pecking order, you'll always get little fights here and there, but ferrets are tougher than you think, so let them get on with it, just keep an eye out for any fighting that goes too far, but also at this time of year, hobs will be in season probably before the jills, if theres other hobs, they simple rag each other, if not they will try it on with the jills, my court is housing eleven mixed ferts at the moment, only have one hob "ted" alone in a cage as he was picking fights with everyone they will stay together prehaps another month, before
  18. if its a mk1 Id say too big, but a mk3 is the same size on a standard 16ft mk3, I use one on my big hobs
  19. well if the other post is read, three people bought them, Ianb, chrissbee, and chimp, so a pm would get the answer
  20. also, as already mentioned, make sure she's aware that with a SGC, you can never get in trouble with the police, as you'd loose it, so she'll know you wont be out causing trouble, driving cars, giving oap's lip etc
  21. are you using a magnet/bouncers etc, were getting largish numbers over rape, using one or two magnets, around 25 deeks and 2 bouncers, not the greatest of shots at the moment but wev're had 32 on 2 outings

    legal?

Showing my ignorance here but I was sure you can bolt rabbits with a ferret and chase 'em down with a dog. Blimey have I been breaking the hunting ban? Oooops rgds Swampy criminalning using a dog on a bolting rabbit is fine, it has a chance, but once caught by yourself, if then dropped for a dog, would be classed as inhumane, so yes, thats very illegal
  23. although they may perform well, dont expect anything great untill they are in the second year
