  1. stubby have you ever fed them to your chickens? they love mice, i remember many many years ago digging out an old compost heap with a bush in it, it was in my chicken run and i dug out a mouse nest that was in it there was about 8-10 mice and about 20 chickens, the mice were ripped to pieces i couldnt believe it as i didnt know they did this at the time. It was pure carnage. yes mate, people are amazed when they are round ours and see chickens fighting over mice, they are bloody quick at catching them too
  2. do you have transport?, can you easily get over to essex? we still ferret throughout summer, if you want Ill give you a shout
  3. traditional methods the reason they wernt used years ago was because too expensive, or not invented so apart from leaving injured or dead rabbits below ground, what happens if your fert gets stuck in a stop end, no amount of key jangling will get it out
  4. our garden has an assortment of animals/cages, we have the ferrets, chickens and a big rabbit, funnily enough the rabbits cage is under a ferret cage, and of course he gets visited by mice, we had noticed a few mice pinching food out of his cage, so yesterday I set a row of break backs, within seconds of placing them, baited with peanut butter we had our first visitor, followed by another three, all while me and the missus watched, re set and checked this morning, another three to add to the tally, ferts love their mid morning snack
  5. my daughter has a pet albino jill, lives in a very large cage in the front room, anyway, year before last we had a "runt" ferret out in the workers quarters at end of garden, me being a bit of a softie, bought it in the house and hand reared it as it was getting bullied/missing out on food, same as yours its now silly tame, but so bloody small at 2yrs old, anyhow the only thing it did to bug us, it would scratch the bottom of cage just when the good TV came on anyway as Im a night worker I came home one morning for my missus to announce she had, had enough of the scratching a put "weasel" ba
  6. you'll feel even sillier now, castration means the hobs (hobletts) can be left with the jills all year round, as they wont get those urges, vasectamised/snipped, they just fire blanks, are used to get jills out of season, but still need to be seperated
  7. your other post (2 hobs) your holding a polecat, and further down someone has posted a picture of a sandie sorted
  8. castration means he wont have any balls to go down
  9. carry on ferreting throughout the summer, maybe a few more digs, but its pest control
  10. you wont want to be keeping him housed with the jills, as a snipped hob he will still rag them to pieces, house him seperatly until the season is over, then once his balls have retracted he can be overwintered with them, just put him in with them to get them out of season, then remove
  11. wack them down a hole, instinct will kick in, all of my ferts are treated as pets first and formost, none are biters, wouldent keep one if they were, but you'll find they may start off slowly, but get better as time goes on, please dont put them down holes though with a lease attached, if you cant afford a locator, just do shallow sets until you can.
  12. is that "some" or everyone mate, you'll see from my price list I charge £90,

    50p

you think thats funny, I can remember buying a packet of "little demon" bangers, 10 number 6 fags, and get change from a £1 note also 2p to get the bus home from school
  14. same here, Ive never tried removing lead shot from anything, be it shot with the air rifle, shotgun or rimfire, although wood pidgeon breast is allways removed first for our consumtion, normally find the pellets in bottom of food bowl next day
  15. thats just looks like an OBESE pet ferret, think theres a bit of difference between big pets and big workers, Ill take a few pictures later, I''ve got two huge brothers, that just fit down the holes, but they dont half make rabbits run
  16. thats where us pest controllers having been going wrong we have been charging for pest control, rather than seeing it as a sport
  17. use the search box top right hand side of page, this has been asked so many times before, doing a quick search will bring up loads of posts with pictures
  18. first check the exhaust, mine came apart via a couple of bolts, so I drilled a larger outlet hole (15mm) then put on a 15mm compression tank connector (plumbers/diy shop) then simply put in a length of 15mm copper tube, around a foot long, then a trip to the car spares shop for some 20mm radiator hose and a jubilee clip, that wont melt remember to add you 2 stroke oil alot thicker than normal to make more smoke, till the petrol nearly turns black is a rough guide
  19. so, they want to pay a firm, but you want someone here to do it for FREE, so you can get a deal from it
  20. your probably making the mistake of trying to aim, non moving targets are fine to AIM at with a shotgun, but moving means, POINT, rather than AIM I have the same trouble, shooting an air rifle for work, I then get out of the habit of pointing the shotgun, it normal takes me a few misses to get my head in gear again
  21. Can you tell me where to get some cheap decoys please. dead pigeons, cost of a cartridge
  22. you have to state a good reason for wanting a 5 +1, a not just because it holds extra carts
  23. the reason you'll get members telling you to go knock on doors is simple, your asking for "approacable" landowners, yet how does any member here, know how YOU conduct yourself, A LANDOWNER THAT THEY HAVE DEALINGS WITH, MAYBE APPROACHABLE BY THEM, BUT CHASES YOU SHOUTING "GET ORF MY LAND" it was constructive infomation, like everyone else on here that has got themselves permission, the worked for it, probably knocking on more doors than permission given, why would anyone on a forum say, yes go an see farmer so and so, tell him bert sent you, no one knows these new members from adam,
