  1. depending how good he is when you handle him, you could use an eye dropper (well lubed) and put a squirt of olive oil up his passage

    for sale

offers are for e bay, state a price
  3. bet he'll never mention to his mate's, that he was gagging on a large horn
  4. we'd all love to only do the "better" stufff" and not have to deal with insects, cockroaches, wasps etc, but you really need to cover all pests, rather than a select few, also I know using BOP's can be good in city areas, train depots etc, to scare off roosting birds, I cant see the same happening on farmers fields, and the hours spent in exchange of catch/kill rate, I would imagine to be very long hours, but low kill, cant see a farmer being happy with that, not when he's paying out money to start with your mate could simple work out what he needs to earn weekly, to pay the bills, then div
  5. if your still stuck after all that good advice, take pictures of each ones undercarriage, post them up, and were tell you

    warn status

I suggest you read the forum rules, as use of TEXT TALK (ie 4 instead of for) will see your warning meter rising
  7. is it a north and south thing then? Ive always sold at £10 to £15 which I reckon is a fair price, not just for me, but the buyer also, crazy that people will pay £££££'s for a dog, yet moan at that price, for an animal that can potenionally bolt 100's of rabbbits for you
  8. [quote name='bleachtastesnice' date='21 June 2010 - 01:09 PM' , thinking about feeding them mice and rat (purchased frozen from local reptile store), Does anyone think this is a wise move? why buy, just put some mouse traps down and catch them for free
  9. one last point, most ferreters, while try out a number of kitts, pick one or two that reach the mark and sell the rest on, some may keep them all if they have the space, my whole strain is built from two jills that did'nt reach the mark (in their previous owners eyes) thus I picked them up, at the time, for pets, having the intention of ferreting, but being truthful with the breeder, I then started working them a year later, they have got to be the best workers ever, most people from here that Ive taken ferreting, have remarked on what a good job they do, they work each warren in turn, before

    Gardener

Ive done it as one of my many jobs, enjoyable in the summer, with young housewives bringing you out cold drinks, could never have made a living from it though, remember, if your ever laying turf, its green side up
  11. my first posts was meant to be patronising, re read it yourself, put yourself in our shoes, its writtern as though we dont know the process of obtaining an FAC, but also like the 100's of other posts we see from new members, who havent contributed one bit to the forum, yet straight away ask for "permission" you then dont approve of my reply, and state your experience, ok maybe you know people in essex and your now in bristol, Ive been a pest controller for 4yrs, have loads of ferreting permission, yet have only just aquired FAC permission, thats not from asking others, but all my own doing, s
  12. Ive often said this in the past, but as there is "no certification" required to call oneself a hunter, and as this is an open forum, theres not much that can be done about it, plus when you think about it, for a "pet" keeper to prefer visiting this site, rather than a pet site, says alot for this forum as a whole it also, I think helps bridge the gap between worker keepers and pet keepers, too many "anti's" out there, for us to try alienating pet owners too plus kay for one, gives lots of good advice, to new keeper/ferreters, rather than jumping on the offence and say'ing she cant as she onl
  13. as stated, culling at the correct time and for the right reasons, I dont have a problem with, but is it the same across the board, or only ferrets, those being a low value animal, ie, a working terrier from good parentage, should it be culled if a working home cannot be found, rather than placing it with a pet family, with the understanding that you can use its breeding, should anything ever happen to your own line. Im not saying thats what I do, as I expect "pet" ferts to be spayed or snipped I suppose were always get a mixed answer to the question posted, but its good to hear everyone
  14. even ferts bred from workers, dont always turn out to be good workers themselves, most kitts dont show any true potential until their second season, so sometimes your left with a good, well handled fert, that just dos'ent reach the mark to keep within your team, in these case's I always look into re homing as a pet, I have nothing against a humaine cull at birth, but not 2yrs down the line, last year I re homed a hob ferret to a family friend, since having him she has had him castrated and chipped, alot more than some ferreters do for their ferts, plus he has the run of her whole house, regula
  15. exactly my point, as the topic starter asked after mossberg pumps, they seem to hold their money far better than other guns, my single shot hushpower cost me £200 second hand
  16. I'd expect to be looking at between £350-£450 for a 410 pump, but you never know, you may find cheaper
  17. Ive been looking for the "Bunny reducer mk1" was always in the back of the vitz, cant find it now
  18. doubt you'll get a pump 410 "CHEAP" single shot pedretti or invvestarm maybe
  19. right, still waiting patiently, not, for my fac, but when it eventually gets here (fingers crossed) I'll be looking to buy rifle, bits and bobs plus a lamp outfit, now hoping to buy the rifle s/h private as it seems I'll get a better deal, but what about a lamp, new or s/h, theres so many models and makes out there, its getting a bit confussing, I already have a battery (12v 7)and charger from my pigeon magnet, so hoping I can use that, and therefore save of buying another battery and maybe postage costs on a heavy battery although Ive read lots of posts reguarding 100yd plus shots with
  20. to the old forum, every page loads up now, and at the click of a button
  21. click on your user name, go into profile, top of page, you'll see topics and posts, click on either
  22. you simply have a few choices, either try getting her to take all the kitts (or some), but risk her abandoning the lot cull the kitts of the dead jill, far better a humaine death than slowly starving try hand rearing (can be done, Ive done it before) but need time and dedication how's the one you tried putting in with the other jill?
