  1. Im sure yours would, if you were left with two females maybe they have had enough of him, giving him the cold shoulder, you should only run a snipped hob in with jills for a week or two, then remove them to other quarters until the breeding is over, otherwise they can tear up the jills necks too much
  2. although my ferts are kept in a court together, come summer time, one hob needs to be seperated "on his own", maybe for 5 months, but of course, he's handled every day, he's still alive and kicking... Ive never heard of a "singularly" kept ferret dying, have re homed a few of my ferts to pet homes, they end up getting better treatment than most, and I doubt very much, they'd ever die from boredom
  3. only as much as what someone is willing to pay
  4. not condoning vets, but many years ago, I took a hob to the vets with a rash on his neck, paid around £40 for her advice and pot of cream, and the normal lecture on how I was cruel to use them for ferreting, of course, it was'ent a rash, but simply shag marks where his brother had been having his wicked way, I went back to the vets, not to try and get a refund, but just to tell her, and hope that the next time a ferret was bought in, she'd know the reason, she would'ent listen, told me hers was the correct reason, and mine was nonsance, needless to say, never used them again
  5. that looks a decent bit of kit, now how long will it take to save a £1000
  6. the torch strapped on is ok, as long as your ok on approximating distance, ie, whatever your scope is set up at we set our sights up at around 20 ish yards, then a laser is tuned into the same distance, it then sits on the center of crosshairs on the scope, a quick flick on, look through the scope at any object at the same distance as pigeons, if the red dot is still center in your scope, you know you at the correct distance, higher or lower, and you can adjust your shooting area by walking forward or back, dunno if that will work the same for you, we can get anything from a few, to 20 plu
  7. as said, its a nice thought, a shame your so far away, my eldest son is a scratcher (tattoo artist) and Im sure he'd go over that for you
  8. fair do's, I knew I'd spell it wrong Ill hold my hands up an appologise, bad day at home tends to become a bad day on the computer too, not that I should try to make an excuse
  9. the bummer is the permissions are ferreting only, I, up until recently only had one shooting permission in essex, a small farm with noise issues, hence the hushpower, even as a full time pestie I could'ent find any others, then out of the blue, a customer that I did a rat job for, offered me 58 acres of very private land to shoot, even gave me FAC permission, so Im waiting patiently (not) for my FAO to visit
  10. there are mites that will feed off ferrets, "red mite" normally found on birds, can feed from ferrets, but will only breed on the host animal, also tics, fleas etc you really need to identify if it is a mite of some sort, before spraying/dusting with treatments, as it could also be a skin condition, which treating for mites could make worst, Id say unless you have a friendly ferreter close by you could ask, then a trip to the vets wouldent go amiss
  11. good for you coming back to answer them mate to many folk on this site quick to pick up on little things like spelling, i know it hard when you know what you a saying and it looks right when you type it but it is wrong. some folk just need to learn that they might be hurting peoples pride on this and should stop and it they dont the moderators should give them a warning after all it's a public forum and you might have turned away after CHILDNESS remarks like that. but then again it was a mod that decided he was better and would point out you spelling mistakes. yet that was wo
  12. apart from learning to spell SHOOTING, I think you need to read the laws on what you can and cant shoot, and for what reasons, otherwise you'll sound like yet another spotty kid wanting to shoot anything that moves
  13. well, west ham's right next door, now in grays, bout 5 minutes from the dartford bridge, have a couple of permissions in braintree though, I too had a 12 gauge pedretti hushpower, was as good as the 410 if not better, but sub sonic carts were around £6.50 a box, so ended up getting rid, for a semi, much better having more than one cart for the pigeons
  14. welcome to the site, where abouts in london, ex east ham'er here now living the country ish life, lol have a pedretti 410 hushpower (no, not selling it) for humaine fox dispatch, great little gun, and good for permissions with noise issue's
  15. have tidied this topic up and removed useless posts, it may be said it humour/tongue in cheek, on replies we have witnessed in the past on how to stop biting, but when I start recieving reports on such, its needs sorting, this topic can either carry on, trying to give good advice, or I'll delete it, simple as that
  16. with pigeon, I normally cut the wings off, pluck the breast a little and chuck it in there, with rabbits, I gut them first then in they go you'll probably find its better to SHOOT their tea, rather than SHOUTING IT
  17. foxes will come for the chickens hungery or not, its their nature, as suggested keep the shotty close and next time get some lead in them
  18. always good advice for kids, but do they listen, my advice though, take the caps lock off, its classed as shouting
  19. if I put my trainers on, I can beat them easy
  20. just ordered one, at that price its gotta be worth a watch
  21. Im no expert, but I thought the voltage depended on thickness of metal to be welded
  22. its probably funny in america
  23. a good place to start is in the FOR SALE SECTION in the LIVESTOCK/DOG section although your now a donator to the site, and can therefore advertise dogs, make sure you read the rules and continue contributing to the site, as members who only post for sale items, are seen as puppy peddlers and banned irrelivent of status
  24. Im affraid it's a big NO here I dont need someone to tell me Ive got a pretty ferret, it bolts rabbits, thats enough for me maybe those that show, need that assurance in life
  25. best place Id say, is your nearest dealer, Im not a lover of waiting for stuff to be delivered, stuff happens, delays etc, then your waiting to get out you can just ask your dealer, tell him you want some cheap clay carts, mine charges around £3. a box (25) and some decent pigeon ones, eley HB pigeon, charges £4.20 I could probably save a few pennies here or there by shopping around, but Id then loose that saving by wasted time and extra petrol
