  1. the reason for the sloping inwards top, is to channel/guide/push the birds to the ladder area, having a flat top, they could simple sit there, without going near the ladder, ladder spacing is sometimes trial and error, so make it simple and adjustable, make sure the ends of the ladder are solid and not open, otherwise birds can climb the sides and get out cant see any reason not to make it from things to hand, ie, wire fencing, as long as the shine dont put birds off, may need spraying?
  2. that will be poachers.com then most people years ago, would find a jacket/coat they liked, and added extra inside pockets themselves tell him to watch out for the fashion police, as he'll look like the mitchelin man

  10. Ive lost count on the amount of ferrets Ive had since being a teenager, and my mates too, have yet to see any "baldness" in a ferret, so cant be that much of a common problem, ferret-land, you sound like one of those dotting mothers that aint happy unless their child is sick,
  11. great bag of pigeons there, but why, if people don't want to be seen, do they bother getting in the picture, surely that makes what you'vre done look wrong, when really its perfectly legal

  16. most will say seperate them, and only you will tell how your ferts are with each other, people always say hobs will eat the kitts, couple years back I put it to the test, I left jills and hobs together, hobs were a mixture of castrated, vasectamised and complete, all was fine and the castrated hob even became a surrogate mum, helping with the kitts, I did however eventually remove all the hobs as the kitts got older, around 6 weeks old, as the intact hobs smelling girl kitts were trying to mate them, not good
  17. go back through my old posts, you'll see I always advised either fresh rabbit or ferret biscuit, but this last year things got a bit tight at work etc, and I tried breeders cat biscuit, big difference in price, ferret 20kg around £38 cat 20kg £13 so my ferts have had that down for a year, along with wood and feral pigeon, the odd crow, rabbits and even goose, cant say Ive noticed any difference in condition, coat or health so Im converted

  20. had heard that myself, but have failed as yet to find a cheap fox decoy, dont really want to pay huge amounts, but staking up a dead fox seems the answer have just secured a new permission with 100's of crows daily
  21. so, ferret goes missing, you croutch down at a hole and the box on the ferret "bleeps" now does it just bleep, in which case you still only know its underground somewhere or does it shout out a gps point and depth of the ferret I reckon the first, in which case, forget it as an underground locator, I did tests for a company a couple of years back on the loca8tor, and above ground but below
  22. sounds like your expecting one hob ferret to work all day, are you resting him between warrens, feeding him, giving water hobs are slower workers, I would advise you get at least a couple of jills to work alongside him
  23. even as a proffessional pest controller, Ive not got that many shooting permissions, just one small farm around 40 minutes drive away, all the other permissions are ferreting only, up until now Ive relied on invites to friends shoots for days on the woodies, but recently myself and shooting partner were given lamping permission on some local land, I mentioned to the land owner about pigeons, but he replied that he already had pigeon shooters, rather that leave it at that, each time I went early morning lamping, I not leave until after sun up, and would then text the owner, pointing out what fi
  24. Ive tried all sorts to decoy crows and magpies in, have the large plastic owl, have tried fence posts and also lofting up a very high tree, have tried all sorts to no avail, my best day was simply using a dead rabbit, belly up, once Id shot the first magpie, they start piling in to look at their dead commrade, then simply popped one at a time, until the figured out I was there
