  1. if you can get a van and get over to essex, you can have this one for £25
  2. I dont think there is any golden rule, its just being in the right place at the right time, five years I had been trying for doorstep permissions, not diddly squat, and Im a full time pestie with some of the big companies, loads of permissions an hour away, but that makes them pointless when you only have a few hours spare, then happened to ask a farmer that Id already asked multiple times, and got a yes, permission 15 minutes from home so Id say, return visits,
  3. had planned on a days shooting, but a bad bout of man flu has put paid to that, thanks for the birthday wishes though
  4. no need for me to say anything else then...
  5. nice to see that not only are you undercutting him, but have pinched his video too,

  7. of course, again far better if you strip the tail from the bone, can be tricky first time, but easy to do, I have both fox and squirrel tails
  8. if the blood is red and running, fine Ill take it, if its darker and sticky I'll leave
  9. over there vets are allowed to remove the scent glands
  10. well after being impressed with the utube video, and chatting with a mate who has ordered stuff from usa before, I used the site above, they have the unit on sale at the moment at around $10, I added to that another decocoy that fits in the centre with rotating wings, and it totalled around $42 with the delivery charge, which at the exchange rate, works out to around £25 I marked it as a gift, as you dont pay import tax on gifts, hopefully, fingers crossed it'll get through and I'll put a post up on it, its got "doves" rather than pidgeon decoys, but Im sure with a bit of white tipex around
  11. if you have cavity walls then pests can enter at low level and climb up into attic, tree rats can also climb outside brickwork to holes in facia or loose slates, peanut butter on your traps will catch either, place in your attic, and check outside for entry points, dont take the advice of putting poison down rats suffer from neophobia (fear of new objects) so can sometimes take upto 2 weeks before going near a trap
  12. less likely to recieve a warning or banned from this forum, unlike some muppets that come here
  13. what are they feeding on without your traps in place? dustbins bird table scraps? other? try baiting with whatever they are feeding on already
  14. thats what I thought too, and as a pestie for london underground and having to remove dead animals that have been hit by trains, thought it would be best to have all neccessary certification, yet on phoning natural england, they assured me I didnt need any such paperwork, apart from my waste transfer notice, as I could prove from fault reports that the animal was dead before I touched it
  15. we were throwing away an old garden gazebo, and the metal tubes all lock into each other, or push in at least, Ive got 7 x poles 4ft long each, so use that to get the crow deeks up high, then put the owl on say 5 poles, brace against a branch and push the bottom into the soil, leaving the owl on the green poles, blends in ok, was a bit windy last week and took around 20 minutes to loft the crows back down, I have a large funnel that I tape to the top poles, easier to locate the crow deeks bottom piece of rod
  16. to a degree, I used mine and yes a few birds came in to it, but I mean only a few, a few weeks later I bought a pigeon magnet and that does what you want so much better, although of course that little unit is lighter to carry as it was collecting dust in the shed, I revamped mine, and turned the supplied "doves" into magpies, by spraying black and white and adding a longer tail and beak, not that it brings them down any better
  17. if your saying its a front paralex scope, Im thinking these are used for larger rifles, ie rimfire, as the lowest setting is normally around 25/30yds, maybe thats your problem, I too tried putting to large a scope on an air rifle once, and had simular problems that your having, why not try a different scope, say a simple 3-9 x 40 if that zero's ok, then its definatly your scope at fault I use a 3-9x40 on my rimfire, shooting out to 100yds and its fine, no need for bigger mag
  18. well went out last week, had made 2x crow and 1x magpie hanging decoy, so put those up a tree right under the crows flightline, at around 26ft high, then placed the owl on the pole, with a dead magpie fixed at its feet (glued a screw-in eye at feet) for attaching birds, at around 20ft high, this was on a saturday morning, now crows must be more inteligent than we/I though, as 5 days a week, you'll get 200 plus crows flying over my permission towards the local landfill site where they feed, on weekends its shut, no lorries,no diggers moving, and I reckon the crows know that no lorries means no
  19. so glad Ive got a vitara and not a discovary, always wondered why mates with them, dont like mud
  20. well, do yourself and us a favour, and check out the defra website, and LEARN THE LAW then, using a live animal as bait, wild or pet is totally illegal, then it'll save you looking like a muppet with the above posts Chill out son he was only have a laugh!!! his posts did'nt come across like a joke, was'ent only me that picked up on it, but had it been meant in humour, he could have pointed that out in his third reply couldent he its ok having humour, as long as its made clear, as stated nearly every week, NON HUNTING TYPES, plus ANTI'S regularly check these forums, are you s
  21. well I was trying to give you PROFFESSIONAL ADVICE, as a fulltime pestie, you need to know what you can or cant do/shoot etc by all means carry on as your doing, as the above poster has pointed out, your FAO would be interested in your replies, we however are not
  22. you dont use a mould for lead shot, you use a drip tray, do a search on u tube to watch
  23. pigeons will prefer to drink from puddles rather than streams what are the pigeons feeding on at your permission the two you have shot so far, did you breast them?, as you could then have looked in the crop and seen what they had been feeding on, giving you the heads up
