well to totally blow your idea out of the water, I applied for my FAC last year, only for a .22 rimefire, (pest control) recieved that, along with an OPEN cert on first application, maybe proving to the fao your need, experience etc is more important than calibre sizes

get out there, have always found golf course rabbits to be less affraid of us, as they are so used to golfers walking around, whatever the weather, even if you get a couple of bad nights, at least the groundsman will know you have been trying, rather than only seeing you now and again, we hit the golf course minutes after the last golfer leaves, just before dusk,

if you can find a stockists, you can get cb longs, or rat stoppers, very simular to a shotgun shell, they have a clear plastic dome end, filled with lead shot, you need to remove the moderator though when using these, so if noise is an issue they may not be best, outside into grass is fine, the cb longs, have a lower fps, do some google searches on .22 ammo, you'll find them, sometimes dearer than sub sonics though. as long as your cert allows you on that land, to shoot vermin, then I cant see any reason not too, you could always make your own safe backstops, paving slabs on edge, feeding

dont put food down for wood pigeon, its illegal,
-
if the smaller piece of land has been deemed safe and cleared for hmr, why not spend so time working out safe backstop areas, even if it means introducing a few man made ones
-
well, production of these may be back on the cards, I bought a new soldering iron and its so much quicker putting these together, off out for a proper feild test on wenesday http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnJ58yvkLSM

I have a pedretti single shot hushpower, but wanted more than one shot, second hand mossbergs are like rocking horse poo, or they hold their price being in excess of £500, so I opted for this, a norca 410, bolt action 3 shot full hushpower, used with sub sonics, it really is as quite as a springer air rifle, love it

some of you may have seen my attempts at making a pecking unit to fit under a shell decoy (cheap type) well Ive took them as far as I can, but feel they are too fiddly and time consuming, for me to go into production of them to re sell, so my hopes of becoming a millionaire are dashed so instead, heres a video of my finished unit, and link to the e bay seller so you can buy your own bits, if you fancy trying to put a few together http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLExGF97oYc

learn to scruff a ferret, its handy when close inspection or application of ointments is neccessary

the trouble is, unless you pin every topic in its own page, and therefore take the whole first page up with pinned topics, we will still get duplicate posts asking the same questions, the hunting life has been going a fair while, and belive it or not, your not the first member to ask for "pinned topics for newcomers" it has been tried before, and guess what, we still got new posts, asking the same questions, that were answered in the pinned area, I can understand you saying not everyyone is pc minded, but the search facility (top right of page, under your name) is simple enough for everyone, ent

right, as the title says really, its possible that I might start using more 410's than I used too, so reloading my empty carts seems a good idea what with them being dearer than 12g carts, looking on utube and other google searches, seems I could obtain certain tools to use by hand, rather than these all in one jobbies but can anyone point me in the right direction and say, "thats what you want" item number etc, also can anyone explain in reloading for idiots language how I go about reloading, cheers all

I dont know if this guys anywhere near you, he's on pigeon watch, he pm'd me saying he had an un-modded one advertised on around 3rd page back, was up at £200, but he'd accept £150, only payed £225 for mine with the hushpower flazz Newbie Pigeon Shooter Group: Members Posts: 8 Joined: 16-February 11 Member: 29756 Gender:Male Location:ingleby barwick -
although Ive got a pedretti 410 hushpower, it tends not to get used much, as its only a single shot, a couple of weeks back though I took it out whilst checking some fenn traps on a permission, and enjoyed the lightness and ease of use of it, bagging a few kills for a nice stew, anyhow, it got me wanting a multi-shot 410, so started looking at mossbergs, but as with all good guns, second hand one's are either few and far between, or they hold their price, but then I saw a member on pigeon watch, advertising a norca 3 shot bolt action, fully hushpowered, at a very resonable price so it was wor

have you been using a motor with a gearbox? as have tested mine for 8hrs each day and all ok so far although I doubt anyone would be in the field for a continuous 8hrs Im sure a remote would work, if using a external 6 volt supply, Im not electronic minded enough to know how it would be wired up though
-
right, after a few enquiries from here and PW, Ive improved the design a little, Im now adding 2 extra wires with bullet connectors, all units will then come with the 3 volt battery holder, but you'll also have the option of connecting to an external 6 volt battery, via the bullet connectors, so you could run 2 or 3 from one battery, the 3volt are turning a roughly 50rpm (50 pecks per minute) field test video to follow soon
-
Ive had a few comments on noise reduction, probably because Im filming so close to them, trust me, a rotary is making more noise than these units, and as Ive stated in the video, if a birds that close to hear it, you should have shot it its not a pinned disc, just an egg shaped cog, pins would catch inside the decoy, and would tend to involve more work, therefore costing more to produce, I wanted to make something small, cheap and easy to fit to a cheap plastic shell, which Ive done, the real test will be over the field
-
I could, but thats top secret, so Id have to kill you sure, its not copywrighted, if you can get the bits or simular together, then go for it, I had to do quite a few searches to find the right motor/gearbox supplier, and buy in quantity to get the price down, but if you fancy having a tinker in ya shed, then go for it, for anyone not having a shed, or being into making their own, I could probably make a few extras up, and probably charge around £8 each, thats just for the gubbins mind, not including a plastic decoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_VAn-LHMDA Ive made 2 types, 3

Ive been working on making my shell decoys move, in a pecking motion in the hope that it brings the pigeons down, as the magnet/bouncers don't seem to be having much luck in these parts at the moment, maybe too many of us shooters the full write up is over on pigeon watch, but heres my final production proto-type, 2 are connected via a 6v battery, and one running on a 3v battery pack, I took my ideas after looking on flea bay, they have the same idea on there, both units look very proffessionally made (in china probably) where as mine's made out of bits in the garden shed, but of course,

land wanted near Barry, south wales
stubby replied to land.deprived.shooter's topic in New Member Introductions
Id count yourself lucky, having one permission, some on here aint even got that, but saying you'vre only been a handful of times in 2yrs is even worst, irrelevent of there being no rabbits there, there are other pest species prehaps the way to go, would be to put up an invite to shooters from here, in your area, to go on your permission first, be it woodies or targets, at least you'll be offering first, rather than being one of the many new members that visit here, that rather than get known, go straight into asking for more permish
