  2. just been informed I may get a mention on field sports tv tonight, for my homemade night vision unit, 7pm http://www.fieldsportschannel.tv/
  3. I currently work for one of the big firms, whilst doing "privates" on the side, the local private jobs could never keep me working full time alone
  4. hi all, the pest control firm that I work for, covers the pest management contract for london underground, we have four night techs, which I'm one of, and two day techs that run the falconry section, flying the birds in train depots now my manager called me a few days ago, saying he had the deal of a lifetime for me, as I'm known within the firm to do lots of country sports, he said the management wanted to send me on a falconry course, pay for an aviary/mews to be built in my garden, and give me one of the harris hawks, and that I would have full use of the bird for my own, as long a

got mine day before yesterday, took the night off work and played solid till 10.30am, then slept, then did couple jobs last night and home by 01.30 to play again, getting signed in can be a problem, mw3 connects instantly, cod is more hit and miss
  6. ferts can withstand the cold, its heat in the summer that kills, if you have more than one fert, they all pile in and keep each other warm I have inside and outside quarters in my ferts court, inside is shavings, hay, straw and towels, yet Ive had them sleeping overnight in a hammock outside with snow on the ground
  7. its funny, but you lads wanting to use a muzzle, must be doing something wrong, and because of this, rather than learn the correct way to do it, your looking at a muzzle to correct your mistakes in all my years of ferreting, Ive never had a fert kill and stay with a rabbit, unless it was boxed in, and thats what locators are for, now years ago, muzzles were used because locators wernt invented, but times change why do your ferts kill and stay, ??? are they starved before ferreting, thinking this will make them better? a days ferreting is pure playtime to a fert overworking one fert rather
  8. barbaric, if you really feel the need, you should not be keeping ferts :nono:

    ...........

a good net needs to be double bagged, so from 200yds you'd get 2 x 50yd longnets (100yds each one) if youre hoping for 70yd nets they will then only have 30yds of bag, less than 50% bag rabbits may bounce off, but thats only my suggestion, others may have different opinions
  10. is it wearing camo as I cant see it??
  11. in future I wouldn't be leaving it in the kitchen, thats the one room in house thats bound to have falling and rising temperatures due to cooking, temperatures act differently on your gun/air etc, making it the worst place to store it, better off either in wardrobe/cabinet or under your bed
  12. you have permission on a pig farm, yet reading your reply it sounds like you're using ONE TRAP???????????? seriously, for any trapping to be effective you need to obliterate the area with traps, cant see the farmer being happy with one rat every few days your better of either placing some bait down and shooting, night vision or mk4 fenn traps
  13. I certainly wouldn't haggle on price, theres lots of second hand guns out there, you find one that you like and pay the money when I was after my ruger 10/22, eastern sporting had 3 in stock, ranging from £145, £190 and £245, the highest one did look and feel the best so I took that, didn't ask for a discount, but did ask if they had a set of scope mounts to fit a scope that I took with me, and if they could sight it in with the laser I ended up having all that done free of charge, including the mounts which came to £48, plus 2 extra 10 shot mags (new) at £15 each
  14. mine handles bigger loads better, as it uses some to re cycle the bolt, smaller rounds are when it jams
  15. if your "waiting" then surely you must have already asked for certain calibres, or are you saying your waiting until you know whats what before applying
  16. I have 2 slots and therefore have one of each, a cz452 bolt action, used mostly for lamping, as with night shooting you have a few seconds more to make that 2nd or 3rd shot, but at the same time I dont want to be shooting bullets all over the place in the dark, as it has been known for dick heads to walk around in the dark the ruger 10/22 is my daytime rifle, as the rabbits are a little more skittish in daylight, you then have a very good chance of 2 or 3 rabbits without changing your position, yes the action was a little noisy, but watched utube clips and did a few home mods on it myself,
  17. did you put a few of all different brands of ammo through it? it sounds crazy, but not all rifles are the same, my mates 452 loves winchesters, my 452 hates them, and therefore I use eleys, dont take anyones word, you need to try for yourself and find out my semi auto on the otherhand loves winchesters
  18. I taught myself to shoot right handed (Im left handed) because of a weak left eye, but saves problems when looking at new guns
  19. as you asked about fac for rabbit and pidgeon hunting, it suggests you dont know the full ins and outs yet about fac, far better therefore to apply for a shotgun license first, you dont need to be a member of any club, or have any land to shoot over, its your right to hold a shotty certificate same as a driving license, it will also get you used to filling in the forms, and it does help a little later down the line if/when applying for fac, also if you hit any problems applying for a shotty, best to find out now, rather than later, as fac is even harder plus, theres nothing worst than going l
  20. so you have land with permission if the land has both rabbit and fox problem, then put in for .22 and 17 when you say 1st gun, do you mean ever, ie no shotgun,or air rifle before
