  2. or rolling down a cliffedge breaking two ribs lol
  3. I wouldnt ov minded seeing asd bulpa run in his day I think andy rated him more than any other dog he owned.
  4. I feed it only when the dogs are getting alot of graft during the season. like you say a cup full mixed in with dry mix greyhound gain, the dry mix brings the protien down also I only feed this 3 times a week or every other day as my dogs get minced chicken carcases in between. hope this helps atb markg
  5. the goverment say we dont get bad winters every year so why invest in new machines to cope with the snow, but where I live north east, highest point in county durham we do get bad winters most years up here its as if it doesnt snow down south then theres no reason to be concerned about the snow, and we dont complian about it.
  6. did anyone hear the gamkeeper say how he new the difference between urban fox and rural fox when he was asked, he said urban foxes will come into the lamp and rural foxes tend to be alot nervier and run away from the lamp. bit of a stupid thing to say, so what if its a rural fox thats never seen a lamp and you start sqeeking it comes striaght in, just made me laff abit.
  7. the old ways of the poacher vol 1 by the warrener, the bloke who uses the catty is a gypsy and a cracking shot, he can hit and kill more game with a catty than he can with a 410 shotgun, well worth a watch lads. atb markg
  8. you should keep a spare bulb up the handle on your striker you never no when there going to blow.
  9. yep you still see the eyes of your quarry reflecting back and if anything the eyes are brighter and stand out more just my opinion. atb markg
  10. when asking for permission I normall give a range of methods and if he says yes he can pick which method he wants using and if your lucky like me its usually lamping and ferreting. good luck anyway. atb markg
  11. Chartpolski's right about how to adjust the beam. I also keep a filter holder attached all the time which helps reduce the peripheral glare round the edge of the beam. I've used them for years and I like them as they're light, small and give ample light for me, whether used with lurchers or on top of the scope on both rimfire and centrefires. Kenny Yes agree here. I use one, they are very good, and as you have mentioned small and light. I've had mine for 3yrs into it's 4th. No electrical problems what so ever, and good usage time too. I agree with the usage time mate as I us
  12. its been like this for a few year now lol
  13. alot of people forget about how the weather can effect the numbers of rabbits on the ground and hillend weardale area was hit very hard as its high ground some of the snow drifts were ten foot and the lying snow was at least 2 foot.
  14. where abouts in haltwhislte were you lamping as my mate has alot around that area?
  15. most lurchers can run faster than that, whilst running the dogs behind the motor for a few miles nice and steady, you can do a few sprints as well, most days i will have them running around 40 mph for a couple hundred metres. then back down to a trot tomo mate thats proper road work, do you ever have any problems with there feet like pads wearing down especialy when there feet arnt used to the road as there must take some walking for a few weeks to take that much stick?
  16. i do there very same i only take what i need when i get around 6 or 8 bunnies i try for a fox or two.No point killing bunnies iv no use for I no wat you mean by saving some for others etc but where we go theres alot of stuff about and if the dogs are fit we like to get at them and test the dogs plus I like to sell a few, but alot go too the dogs during the winter, but then agian dont mind a look out local for a couple of runs and the odd bit other game but at the end of the day its the enjoyment of what you do and if you enjoy it and the dogs put there all in then thats all that matters.
  17. yep the only way to get them to peak fitness is lamping, you can do all the road work and other types of preperation but at the end of the day it will never get them lamp fit.
  18. road work, biking and if you are luky enough to have some nice hunting up land which holds plenty of game then this gets the dog in tune depending on how fast your dog works cover, but theres nothing better than doing the actual lamping of rabbits to get the dogs fit, the more time you are out and the more runs you are getting then the dogs guna run itself fit simple realy. hope this helps atb markg
  19. will he still keep the site informed like write ups of how the nights have gone, and good look to all who have entered. Are you running in this years comp tomo, I think visa could do well?
  20. he's leaving it a bit late isnt he should of been in full flow by now its cool enough to run the dogs and the amount of rain has aloud the ground to soften. come on whin let the lads n lasses no whats happening. atb markg
  21. this vet sounds like he knows naff all about feeding dogs meet. always feed raw if you feed cooked then only boil, its cooked bones which stick in dogs throght.
  22. charlie boy, theres dogs out there that have cuaght more than 14 hares in one night, there used to be a long thread on here about minshaws a few year back when all the good lads were on and the bags them lads got were into the 20s but better than the photos which they put on was the reading that came with them, some good old stories of when they used to get chased off angry gamekeepers an such, sadly it got took off as there were too many nobheads joining and they just riuned the thread. if you are happy running what you have and the dogs putting 110% effort than thats all that matters. at
