If anyone can explain how to do a fix could we have this thread pinned please? I use a blitz variable. I love it and if the wiring goes I want to be able to fix it.

recipe for the best collie grey lurcher?
Maximus Ferret replied to CarraghsGem's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
They sound good for the job. Part of my objection to using Irish coursing blood is that they're bred very tall. If the lurcher pup grows tall with a heavy body it's feet come under a lot of pressure on sharp turns. They'd probably be OK with your strain of collie. -

I'm not too sure where you'd find an English coursing greyhound these days and IMHO an Irish coursing hound isn't as suitable for this job. I'd suggest an ex racing greyhound that has remained free of foot injuries or one that has been hunted and lamped and remained sound. The working hill collie seems a good choice. Working beardies are good too but if you have borders that can work hard and long and that are level headed they should be as good as any. I don't believe it matters which one is the sire or dam. -
Why do you want to get her out of it? If you want to obey the law you can release it and if you want to eat it then surely it's better for the table if you kill it rather than the dog crushing all its bones.

I had a Mick Douglas lurcher years ago. Micks line were mainly kept by him for coursing when saluki greys were a little bit less popular than they are now. Mick told me he didn't like salukis much. I think his line started with a collie grey and he used studs that were winning at matching so it was a "bitsa" line. When I bought the pup he'd named it Ashly. One of the dogs it was bred from was called Ashy but he'd named another pup from the litter Ashy. I changed the name of mine to Ashy too as I liked it better than Ashly. At the time Mick was fielding a bitch called Swiftney but my pup was br

I've been bitten once or twice alright. Once through the fingertip of my index finger and that hurt! Most rabbits won't bite at all and I often pull out live rabbits while the ferret's attacking them. It's so rare for a wild rabbit to bite that I never expect it when it happens.

THE RABBIT ROGAN JOSH
Maximus Ferret replied to 3 Turns's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
Rabbit needs way more cooking than chicken - especially older rabbits. Long and slow is the way to go. -

That's the most interesting reply on the thread Artic. Seriously though, if the ban was lifted it would still only be legal for those with permission. There were no more "cowboys" before the ban than after and I'm sure most of us have done a little freelancing in the past.

A couple of 20ft sections of longnet through the hedge at right angles. You may need to cut out a few twigs to get the nets through but you shouldn't damage the hedge of course.

Have you got any videos with dogs running better than Red? A vid of hares says nothing about Reds abilities.

OOPS! I've just repeated Wildrovers post. Sorry bout that.

I bet you always hold your lamp in your right hand and have Bryn walking on your left. If you always heel your dog to the same side it gets sort of "stuck" there.

has any 1 had or knows or have seen work

24 inches to the shoulder. This took her about an hour to dig when we were camping. As a worker, well she's only starting this winter so it's hard to say much yet. She's been ferreting a couple of times and her concentration is good. She's learning to listen and she's ready for bolts. Lamping is taking longer. She goes down the beam like a rocket then gets unsighted on the first turn. After a few outings like this I took her with my 12 year old collie greyhound and ran them as a pair and she got her first rabbit. She now needs to go on her own again.A bad sign is that when she loses a rabbi -

Strange? Need some advice please!
Maximus Ferret replied to kieran121's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
If they eat lots of cowshit their poo goes green. If they eat rat poison their poo comes out blue or green. Otherwise I've never heard of it. -
Some good advice here. I'd get another pup but I'd still be looking for the stolen bitch. You put a lot of time into her and I'd bet if/when you do get her back you'll be pleased to see her. Best of luck with whatever you do.

I have a first cross collie greyhound. He's 12 years old and I had him out lamping last night. He'd six runs, catching three of them.He doesn't yap and returns when the lamp goes off. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/167810-pictures-of-first-cross-collie-greyhound-no-beardies/page__p__1693481__fromsearch__1#entry1693481 The link shows him when he was younger. The photo here shows him in his bed this morning. He has a bit of arthritis from an old injury in one wrist so he's limping a bit this morning but he still loves going out and never limps 'til he gets home.
