  1. It varies depending on the model. Mine is this one:- http://www.twogoodkayaks.com/KayakSpecPDF/ScupperProTW.pdf and rated at 350 to 400 pounds, depending on water conditions. I'm around 13-14 stone and wear a weightbelt (for diving) weighing around 20 pounds and carry an anchor, speargun, food and hot drink, camera, small telescopic fishing rod etc plus whatever I catch. I've never had problems. I think the angling models might be rated for more as they're a bit wider and maybe a little slower. Mines designed for diving from.
  2. aaron brand mate I wondered where you'd got to.
  3. is a pedigree not just a list of dogs parentes grand parents.a family tree the diffrence being when they register with kennel club like with labs spaniels etc so really you do get a pedigree of your pup when you buy it {a family tree} correct me if i am wrong yes his collies that he uses might be pedigree but his pups that he breeds are not @ theworkingferret. You're wrong. Pedigree just means a list of what the dog is bred from. What you mean by pedigree is a dog with a KENNEL CLUB pedigree. This means nothing in working dog terms. Most of the top working collies aren't register
  4. He is indeed but in that part of county Durham you wouldn't have much trouble finding working bred salukis.
  5. If you feed a good quality diet of mainly meat and bone your hound will have a shine like you've never seen. Eat the yoghourt and cod liver oil yourself.
  6. I use one for breath hold diving and spearfishing as well as a bit of angling. The model is "Scupper pro" by ocean kayak. I rigged it myself with sounder, anchor etc. My advice is to buy admiralty charts of your area and learn to find good fish holding spots and areas. Learn all you can about weather, tides and winds, and watch the forecasts carefully. I've been caught out a couple of times and been shitting it before making shore . . If the surf picks up then landing can be tricky too so launch from somewhere sheltered if possible. Here's some photos:-
  7. Thanks for posting those Fuji. That's my kind of scenery and I walk my own dogs in those kind of places as often as possible. Nothing like watching the sun rise where the forest gives out to heather up on the high ground.
  8. Rico always seems to pay top dollar for "salvaged" stuff. I'd prefer to find it dumped, nick it from a skip, offer to take it away free of charge etc etc.
  9. I've had some fun looking through this thread and realised that it's not compulsory to be a racist to be on here. Anyone remember the early 70's, getting f*cked up and rolling round in mud for a week listening to....
  10. Hi Darren, where abouts in West Cork are you moving to? The terrain varies a lot. I live near Clonakilty in a mainly dairy farming area. I have no trouble finding a few rabbits and can get double figures easily enough in a couple of hours. I don't hunt foxes these days but always see plenty when I'm out lamping. There're fallow deer here and there if you know where to look. As you travel West from here the terrain gets hilly and rougher. 20 or 30 miles West you start to get onto sika areas and the nearer to Kerry that you drive, the more you'll see and occasionally reds too. Poaching with l
  11. They should get you to video the matches George. Some of the footage I've seen is diabolical compared to yours .
  12. Great jumping. I must get a suit like that for taking the dogs out! Wonder if they do them in realtree.
  13. wouldnb't hold out much hope either but they do occasionally get found as in this link. http://petsireland.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=60059&st=20 It can help if they're chipped.
  14. Heartbreaking. I hope they get it back but I wouldn't be very optimistic. I'm wary of leaving any of ours unattended in the car or even at home when nobody's in. They're all pets as well as workers and I'd dread losing one that way.
  15. where abouts in rotherham pal i got a 7/8 saluki 1/4 grey from some breeder in rotherham and i am sure they had bred a litter of that breeding. Has it got an extra leg mate?
  16. Did you mean 3/4 greyhound, 1/4 collie? Just curious.
  17. I've looked through this thread a few times and meant to post some photos of collie crosses I've had over the years.
  18. I reckon you've hit the nail on the head there. In my opinion the gradual increase in habitat since the 70's and earlier is one of the main reasons for the increase in deer numbers. At the very least they need regular patches of some kind of woodland in amongst the farmland before they can colonise an area. (Unless you're looking at hill and heathland of course.
  19. Was it this one?:- http://www.mayonews.ie/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=17196:man-in-court-for-trespassing-on-land-while-hare-coursing&catid=23:news&Itemid=46
  20. If every member on here, even the ones who've never posted and the ones who live abroad, if they all took 14 deer, they'd still not take 700,000. It doesn't sound very likely to happen really.
  21. How much handling did this pup get in his first three months before you had him? He sounds like a typical un socialised pup. What they don't get in their first 12 weeks can be very hard to replace. If it IS lack of handling in the first 12 weeks then DOG Magic's on the right lines but it takes a lot of time and patience. The long lead is good because you can correct him without making too much of it and without getting wound up yourself. I once took on a border collie from a farm where they had fed it but never touched it or put a collar on etc. I eventually got him so he'd come to me when ca
