Well done young fox caller, keep up the good work, you never know your dad might let you have a go at the next one. Hi mate, I have already been shooting for two years this month and hunting for about 5 or 6 years. Last year after I shot a Fox about three miles away, my photo was in sporting gun magazine along with that day's story.

Well Folks, my dad got talking to a local farmer today and the farmer said there was a fox or 2 knocking about his glen and could we do anything, leave it with me said my dad. If my dad has to call foxes in he dosn,t use a lamp because he believes that there are so many tits about all the foxes are lamp shy, so he prefers to go out about an hour before dark or just after dark in the morning. About 8.30pm tonight we got kitted up and drove the odd mile to our permission. As we turned of the road onto the lane we noticed a fox about 100 yrds away so we kept on driving past it to a derelict farm

Hi mates, this is Younggun. On the very first day I went out hunting, it was with the Hounds and I was only about eight or nine, I was nervous, naturally, as I did not have a clue what to expect. The first stop of the day was at my great Uncle's farm, he nicknames 'the mountain'. It's made of about four or five fields and there is two different parts of heather in the middle. The guns where arranged to cover both the sectors of cover, me and my Dad (Terryorr, on the site) went to the very bottom of the farm - at the very end of both sectors of cover...The howling of the hounds started and then

I would say just a normal .22 - the bullets are cheaper and the .22 will kill a fox at about or 100 yards. some say the .22 magnum is too powerful for rabbits and although the magnum has a slightly longer fox range than the .22, it's just not worth the extra money for the magnum's bullets.

Hi mates, this is Younggun from Northern Ireland. Over here the waiting time for a firearms certificate is at an average about four months!!! But i heard about a farmer who waited over a year for a .22 rifle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As long as it is covered in a secure, fastened sleeve. It is recommended that the bolt is removed, it cannot be loaded and your are meant to conceal it from view where possible. You were not doing anything wrong mate as long as it was covered - he'd no right to stop or caution you!

Hello, I'm younggun from Northern Ireland, i'm fourteen now and love shooting and hunting. I have been hunting for the past 4 years roughly and have first-hand experience in many forms of hunting; Terriers, hounds, lamping, decoying, rough shooting and dogs. I have appeared in 'sporting gun magazine' in November 2009 (p.g 24) after me and my Dad went to aid a farmer one night who was having trouble with foxes, my Dad called the fox to about thirty yards and i shot it cleanly. In September when the season starts i plan to have many stories and information to share with the other forum members.

Well done mate, 225 yards at that time of the morning is some shot, 200 yards at any time is even a good one! Nice piece of kit that rifle - .223 is a deadly foxing calibre.

Well done mate, if only there where more people so willing to get their young lads out. Im fourteen now and love the shooting and hunting, it keeps me out of trouble and gives me a life-long hobby. WELL DONE

Hi mate; my answer to your question is as follows - the choke you are using depends massively on what type of foxing you are doing, for example, terrier work where you are challenged with a bolting fox demands a wide spread choke (An open or 1/4 choke), rough shooting, where any range can occur demands an all-rounder (A 1/2 choke), and hunting with hounds where a long range shot may occur demands a tight choke (A 1/1 choke). So basically what i'm saying is that situations vary massively. Another thing to remember is that you may/may not be a skilled enough marksman to use a full choke all th
