  1. Mr Hancocks lurchers are probably not all shit, but as far as know he dose not work any of his lurchers, he once told my mate, and this is going back a few years, that his studs were worth too much to work, that statement alone would put me off, his ear numbers arnt worh the paper they are printed on he has no idea about the dams progress as he never works them, he only used to get sales bacause he sold on the word of plummer, my mate , much to the annoyance of myself and another lad who knows his lurchers, decided to purchase a lurcher dog, at nine months old it was decided to return the dog,
  2. looks a bit like my two bitches, very strong, the bitch is from cheshire, i think out of nuttalls terriers, the father was from the hunt kennels at badsworthbramhammoor foxhounds, he was stolen last year, but managed to sire one bitch, jeez, i dont half miss that little dog though.
  3. I have spent thirty five years hunting rats with terriers and ferrets, had a few ferrets that have had bad maulings, and a few that would refuse to enter a rat warren after the maulings, never lost one though. Jills make the ideal ratters just beacause of their size, but i have used hobs to bolt them from under hen houses or piles of rubbish, smokers are good but after a while the noise of a chainsaw motor drives me mad, and i think the rats are scared to bolt sometimes, yes i would always use a ferret to bolt rats but your terriers have to be one hundred pecent safe around them.
  4. look, just stay away, the keeper of whoever he is, is haveing trouble, your just adding to his worries, just walk your hound somewhere else, failing that, find out who his employer is, call in, with your best bib an tucker, bottle o whisky in your coat pocket, and ask for permission.
  5. A few years ago, cant remember exactly how long, but it was just after that australian guy, andre jorjescu had released his fox calling vid, he had just made a long range call, so me an mi mate bought one, we were up on thorne moor doncaster, lamping fox, after what seemed like hours , and wandering for miles we spotted a fox a few hundred yards out, called it and charlie comes running straight down the beam, the bull crosses were on the slips and i decided to see how close we could get him in, twenty foot out and with the red filter still on the fox ran straight into my legs, bowled me over a
  6. would be the north penine foxhounds? ive been to their terrier show a few times.
  7. where are the scarview kennels, any chance of a day out, i hunt mainly with the BADSWORTHANDBRAMHAMMOOR FOXHOUNDS, always nice to have a day out with a foot pack, sometimes i visit the wensleydale, nice views and some good hunts, must dust off mi fell boots, all the best, mark.
  8. well, i were there, what a great little show, some very nice looking hounds, cracking terriers and a good day all round, apart from the heavy shower at the terrier show, but bugger! it was the lake district, my mate who has never been further north than his front garden was overwhelmed at the scenery, coulnt believe there were so many types of hounds and also had a good day . Hope ya all had a good day , maybe someone could put some pics up, me, well i forgot mi camera, derrrr.
  9. i will be there as well, mark from leeds, where ya from. deadhorseanddonkeydealer, i am up york road just near the killingbeck cop shop.
  10. when i started ferreting for the waterboard, twenty years ago, i would visit the same warrens once a week, but numbers were obviously down, i would leave for at least four weeks, although you could still bolt rabbits after only a few days, depends how many rabbits there are in that area.
  11. niceone any reason why im struggleing to understand the difference of them an what they both do? A vascectomy is preferable to castration for one reason only, A vascectomised hob will still produce sperm, a castrated hob wont, althought he still produces sperm the sperm is dead, thus he will still perform as a hob should, the jills will be brought out of season and whence, nomore unwanted kits.
  12. yeh, build a run at the side of a bought shed, thats what i did, all wooden frame , the metal corragated sheet roof came from a barn on the farm i hunt that had blown down, i got the shed from b an q, all in all it cost me about 120 quid, the floor in the run is all flagged, quicker than concrete, its warm dry and draqf proof.
  13. I have a two and a half year old whippet dog, red brindle in colour, he is the first running dog that i have ever had, game as the terriers , works cover, catches rabbits, works well with the ferrets, marks, has a relatively good nose, and is a total pleasure to have around, Yes he or they arnt as good as good lurchers, well not the ones i have been out with anyway, but they are fun to be around, so yes i would purchase a whippet for hunting rabbits along the dunes, its all down to personal choice, so good luck with your new running dog whatever the breed.
  14. Good show.Wouldnt want taking as my birthday present though. Tightarse!!! i dont know, you men are hopeless :rolleyes:OH come on forrest, she might even like it, i will take her for a bag of chips somewhere, an if shes really lucky , might even make her a brew when we get home, but she;ll have to jet wash mi kennels out when she gets home from work tonight, only jokeking though, honest.
