Fascinating stuff Pete one thing going through my mind when reading this is I find myself comparing it to one of my passions, photography ( not the technical side lol ) and ( you may have noticed ), I see a bird, I take a pic and if its say a x bill my knickers get wet i suppose the same as when you find something "exotic" in one of your traps, seems to me though you're passion has alot more to it than just taking a picture so I say " hats off to you mate " keep up the good erm,,,, work -
wild caught in the mix ? - you're basicly correct mate, alot of the British folk are show men/women so adding wild caught to the mix would turn the clocks back, why catch wild birds ? I used to do it when I was a laddie Pete, it was pretty much one of my main hobbies along with ferreting climbing trees etc lol, I suppose its the primitive being in us, I kept them in aviarys for a few weeks then released them again, they never lost condition, not something I would do now though because I'm all grewn up

todays concoction - seeding grasses, dock, milkthistle, knapweed, plantain, ragwort, hawksbeard, meadowsweet and the odd dandelion not sure of the plants name but grows everywhere and something which you can start collecting now, hangs on the dry stems of the plant untill the end of winter so plenty time, not for feeding the birds but for nesting material, I collected it for my birds this season and it makes a lovely silky smooth nest lining cheers

Aye stick them in a big flight cage in the birdroom and give them a budgie type box getting to the darker nights now though so may have to provide extra light, well done with the parrot finches, smart birds I've always fancied Off to the birdroom then I av extra lighting in there for the birds any way so hopefully Thay do well in there.I av 3 pairs of parrot finches at the min also av a pair of red headed star finches but thay keep laying there eggs all over the cage floor and not the nest box?I av put 4of the star eggs under some benges all full so hopeing thay bring then onP.s sorry for

F**k karate! We just legged into the nearest pub and looked out the window in nervous amazement! Like f**king marbles they were! Really hammering down too. It's a wonder no one lost an eye. bit strong scot, dinnae hud back lol, they'll realise in the not to distant future Scottish games fecked withoot us orange cxnts lol

Now, that's interesting! It must have been about thirty years ago now, I was in a hail storm just like that. It was a Sunday. I was going to a karate grading at an 'away' dojo ~ this is how I remember so much detail ~and f**k me, did the shit come down! Weird thing is; I'd be pretty happy to guestimate that that too was an August! aye you would need your karate skills to survive that mate, size o them lol
