  1. As long as the owner/owners of the golf club gives you permission to shoot rabbit and,as long as it is at a suitable time when it is not a danger to anyone then there should be no problem.
  2. Just before Christmas I bought a CZ.22LR from a new gun dealer and have never faulted it in any way. I paid £340 for the rifle itself. A friend of mine was interested in a .22LR and I took him down to see what was on offer. The dealer said he had new .22LRs in at £250 for rifle only. My mate looked at one and said OK. The make was PUMA. He sent off his application and had it back in 3 weeks. We went down and picked up new rifle and nikko stirling scope and moderator on thursday evening. We went to gun club grounds to zero scope and I now sort of feel guilty for getting him his rifle. Well the
  3. Thanks for the replies lads, just what I thought.
  4. Was up at gunclub ground this morning releasing the 6 week olds and another member ask me "Is it legal or illegal to shot foxes with a .22lr" I started to laugh and replied "Off course it is legal" he shook his head and replied "I wouldn,t be so sure" Apparently he was in a well known gun shop here and this was the conversation. I told him I never knew it was illegal but I would certainly ask. What is your thoughts?
  5. Thanks for the comments lads, good to see everyone agreeing on something for a change
  6. For £400 mate you could pick up a really good second hand Beretta 301 or 303, have 303 model and has never let me down. I could have sold it 10 times now but naa.
  7. All interesting reading lads, Thanks. Northern Ireland Firearms Certificate Holders are told on their F A Cs A minimum of 5 pellets must be used in any shotgun cartridge, therefore slugs are ILLEGAL here.
  8. OK Here we go. I have shot, hunted, dug, fished, you name it for probably 35 odd years and enjoyed every minute of it. All over the summer months my friends and I have attended the shows, game and country fairs all over N Ireland, Scotland and have even judged shows in England. I am sick, sore and tired of So Called Country folk who attend these shows and can find nothing else to do but criticise the results and outcome of these SOCIAL events of the Closed season. I have never met or spoke to people like Albert J Tettrinton and his associates but I have great admiration for their determination
  9. Question. Are solid 12g slugs legal or illegal, and if legal, Where

Doodles son, 30 years ago I would have agreed. I was talking to a man who had a gun shop in a local village, who retired recently and he has a beautiful house and a lot of land around it which he likes to keep to himself or friends whom he invites up for an occassional shot. He was watching out the front window one evening and spotted a bright light coming up the road towards his home which alarmed him. He waited until the vehicle was adjacent to his home and stepped out and stopped it. What are yous at he asked. We are from Queens university in Belfast, doing a count on hares in the ---------
  12. A load of balls. My good friend and gentleman told me off a time he was at an army range in Northern Ireland ( I shot on it many times ) off a time he was there and an American Navy Seal was showing off and demonstrating his shooting skills and was actually very good until he came out with the statement that One time he set up 10 targets at 1000 mtrs away and took 10 shots, 1 at each target, with a 308 rifle, and he placed each target on top of each other and there was 1 hole through all the targets. It could only happen in AMERIKAY
  13. Cheque being cashed means nothing only they have recieved your application, this neither means you are successful or otherwise. 3 weeks, PHEW, Jesus man, wait 3 months and then start wondering.
  14. SAK mate, I have one on my CZ and it cost £30. With Winchester X Sub Sonics the hammer makes more noise than the round does. Shot 2 cubs at 45 yards a week ago didn,t even know I was there.
  15. Well done young lad, you will always remember that one
  16. I was working in the garage this morning and about 9.15am the phone rang. It was my uncle ringing to say he was down the mountain checking the sheep and a fox walked past him limping, carrying a back leg and disappeared into the whins (gorse). The cover is 2 parts of whins which almost come together in the middle. We usually take 3 or 4 foxes of this cover each season with the hounds and if my uncle sees a fox on it he is on the phone straight away. The last few times he rang we went out but the fox had obviously carried on and out the other side and away. This morning I rang a couple of mates
  17. I cant understand how returning DEAD fish to the sea is preserving stocks. If a trawlerman is only allowed to catch a certain quota per day and he goes over that quota then he shouldn,t be allowed out of the harbour until that catch is used up, rather than throwing perfectly good healthy fish over the side.
  18. Have a couple in the gunroom. I peeled the tail of the bone and washed it 1st. Then got a 2 litre plastic milk carton (washed it out) and half filled it with meths. Push the tail through the top and close carton with cap. Give it a good shake and leave for a week, shaking it once every day. Take tail out and wash and you will have no problems.
  19. Great job mate, well done.
  20. I dont think its a daft post at all. I wouldn.t carry a set off scales with me but if I shot a speciman fox I would like to know the exact weight of it. I don,t think 26.5 lbs is a record though.
  21. Well done to the moderators for removing arseholes post. Young lad, you keep on posting son and sooner or later someone in your area will show you the ropes.
  22. THANKS LADS FOR YOUR REPLIES, GREAT READING AND SOME GOOD POINTS. HAPPY XMAS

  24. Yeah at least the young lad is interested in work and not lying on his backside with a play station, we are supposed to be encouraging young lads, you PLANK
  25. Well lads, just back from trying out my new .22lr, well impressed. We set up Bisley air rifle targets at 25 yards and after a few tweaks on the scope we were hitting or clipping the bull each shot. We shot 100 CCI Mini Mags, 20 Winchester T22s and 20 Eley subsonics. At that range there was no significant difference between the rounds. I am happy that any small game will pay the price if it comes within yds. We retreated into 1 of the out buildings and waited for some crows to settle and 2 paid the price with a Mini mag each at about 40 yards, there wasn,t much left of them and now the .22lr i
